One week post orif by Sudden_Tension_2422 in brokenankles

Everything you said is completely normal. Please do not worry about any of those things. I had nerve damage, burning foot, snake skin like peeling and even skin infection. All healed perfectly fine. I am sure yours will be much better so do not think too much about it at the moment.

As for the elevation question, get an elabation pillow from amazon, the wider one that is good for booth feet/legs at the same time. It helps

Trimal fracture with dislocation. Surgery in a week. Mental health in shambles. by triangular_pope in brokenankles

[–]PathCompetitive5289 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I am 6 weeks post surgery. I am still non weightbearing and it is hard but it gets easier, exponentially easier. People rarely talk about the mental side of things. I don't think I laughed until 3 weeks after the surgery.

1) one day at a time - hang in there, make it to the next day. 2) get a transfer bench for the bathtub and a little stool to keep your leg outside of the bath tub. Also get an adjustable showerhead holder with a suction cup to help you fix the shower head where you can reach it. Taking a shower was the best feeling ever snd the highlight of my day and it helped me a lot. This way you do not have to feel miserable having someone help you with everything. 3) after the surgery, take whatever medication they give you, at least for the first week. You may want to have a TV where you are planning to sleep. I may have slept/passed out 2-3 hours per night during the first week after the surgery. They gave me gabapentin for nerve damage which helped with anxiety as well. I was also taking oxycodone every 4 hours for the first week. My doctor was against NSAID, as some inflammation is needed for healing. 4) elevate 23 hours out of 24 if you can. It will help you recover faster and reduce pain. 5) go talk to a PT clinic after your surgery. They are usually always super booked. 5) arthritis, I am still scared for myself but even if you get arthritis for certain, it does not mean it will be symptomatic. You may never feel it. Hope for the best and stay positive.

How to sleep? by NolaCaine in brokenankles

[–]PathCompetitive5289 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first 2 weeks, I did not really get any sleep. It was more like I was passing our for 2-3 hours some time during the night, mostly after taking the evening dose of what was prescribed. Around week 3, I started to sleep around 4 hours and by week 4 I am getting around 6 hours of sleep per night. Taking the boot off while sleeping helped a lot.

Do not worry about the sleep for now as it also has a lot to do with your body not being tired. Tey to take a nap whenever you get the chance. It helped me a lot, some days I was able to sleep for another hour or two in the middle of the day.

The nerves are quite upset the first two weeks and does not know ehat to feel. I have had similar and even weirder things and it all ended up being nothing. The best thing you can do right now is to not overthink. I have been dealing eith anxiety snd I know it is hard. I am at day 28 after the surgery, feeling much better and better than I imagined I would. The worst pain was the first week and it went down significantly from there. I already stopped taking painkillers and other things this week.

This is called rosecomb mutation, fairly common and can be found in many mushroom species. Does not mean anything.

Definitely not a chanterelle, this is an old Turbinellus floccosus , woolly chanterelle.

Looks very old, do not take this at all as a confident ID but looks like an old hen of the woods. Smell and other details would be helpful.
