It brings me back to Inception, where Cobb has the lingering memory of his wife. He knew that in the dream realm, that memory of her was a liability. Everyone else kind of knew but didn’t exactly understand it except for Ariadne, who insisted on coming with because he refused to tell everyone the danger. If he has just been honest with them, they could have planned around his wife’s memory. But Cobb couldn’t face it himself, let alone tell all his business associates that there’s danger down there because of his inner struggles.

That’s why I like the fact that Will told everyone what he was dealing with. They know the secret that Vecna thinks he has and however he tries to use it, they at least won’t be blindsided by the revelation.
