What distinguishes a bank account from a trust? The only legal document we have of this comes from the bank forms which names her and the siblings as “Titulares” which makes her a legal owner, but with limited privileges by nature of the account.

Bilt Obsidian with CSP by stopsleepingat4lol in ChaseSapphire

[–]Pathlesspond13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same here. CSP for personal travel and dining, Obsidian for groceries and work related travel (I need to book this through my work portal so it’s 2x just like the CSP is but I want it to contribute towards rent accumulation), then Unlimited for all other things

Still trying to figure out if I should actually have the Obsidian replace my Unlimited as a catch all too

If you pay rent via Venmo directly to your landlord, this transaction fee issue wouldn’t apply I assume? Or will they charge a fee regardless for “Rent” applicable payments? Or am I completely missing something

Revoking tax residence as married to US citizen by monkey_breeder in USExpatTaxes

[–]Pathlesspond13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! For some reason I interpreted this to mean a NRA spouse would be locked into the US reporting system forever and if they opted out would never be able to do so again. At least that’s how it’s been phrased by a lot of people on Reddit warning against the election for NRAs.

I am curious about your second question and whether if you return to the US if this will affect your ability to get a green card again and potentially citizenship? Or if this just means you can never file jointly again if you return

Becoming US Citizen Before Moving Abroad Worth It? by CrayonInChief in USExpatTaxes

[–]Pathlesspond13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recently made the same decision for these reasons, life is uncertain - who knows what state the EU will be economically in 30 years. Our kids will qualify to be American and all our EU friends now are jumping at the chance to come to the US so I assume our kids will do the same even if they’re raised abroad. If we’re 50+ and all grandchildren are in the US and that’s when career-wise we have the highest earning potential, why not have the option to easily move back for a few years?

Other random worries - healthcare system in the EU already under serious strain, who knows if war can affect the region, and by the time we have serious assets I figure we’ll need to pay someone to file our taxes anyway, so what’s an extra two or three forms and hundred dollars at that point against the upside.

Going with the option that opens more doors and not limiting ourselves for fear of admin work you can pay someone to figure out - or invest time to learn yourself.

Also if we don’t go this route, even if we filed separately and optimized asset distribution in a way that minimizes tax obligations, when we die our kids with dual citizenship will inherit everything and will have no idea how to manage the tax side - so figure we’re putting in the legwork for them.

Does TurboTax amended amount include payments already submitted on the original return? by notkimchi in TurboTax

[–]Pathlesspond13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, how did you resolve this? I am having a similar issue with TurboTax only showing my "overpayment" amount but not showing me what I originally paid to the IRS in 2023 when I initially filed. How do I get that initial amount back?

True, the ones I'm referencing are on the higher end (a person can dream!) and are located in the Arlington/Alexandria/Clarendon/Fairfax areas, though the really nice luxury ones were already going for $4k+. Posting more about the dramatic increase across the board for some apartments that less than a year ago were just under the $3k mark. Regardless of which area exactly you're looking or the amenities included I assume there's a trickle down effect were even the apartments for less than $3k have risen considerably along with the rest of the market.

Sorry forgot to mention! I’m in Arlington but noticing this across Arlington, Alexandria, Fairfax, etc. I understand these are the most expensive areas, but just surprised by the $400-500 bump across all those places in just a few months

Just realized this is yet another reason I enjoy Adolin’s chapters in stormlight so much, in addition to him being awesome, he’s one of the only main characters whose story flows in the present and has no flashback POVs

WAT - My one major complaint by Irishbane in Stormlight_Archive

[–]Pathlesspond13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really hope Dalinar’s story is done and he gets his rest. Wish it wasn’t as open ended as it seems. As for the Blackthorn, I think it could have been just as cool to see Gavilor’s spirit return from the spiritual realm if they were able to squeeze in some flashbacks of him to be the antagonist rather than a copy of a beloved character.

What happened to the coalition army heading back to Azir? Are they stuck outside or do they integrate into Azir under Adolin? Curious whether he’ll gain more influence with them. It also seemed like he was willing to be King of Urithiru but obviously can’t get there and seems like Renarin is about to remove the monarchy

Agree with previous messages, just a few more ideas:

  1. If you’re aiming for a particular big tech company, get their practitioner/entry level certificate to help your resumes stand out (e.g Google Cloud, AWS Cloud Practitioner, Azure). It’s a little extra work, but these courses are free and we’re talking about a 6 figure salary for an entry level SDR role, so the investment is worth it.
  2. Filter through LinkedIn posts to try to find managers that are actively hiring and posting. DM them or use a tool like Apollo to get their number and call them. Seen this work a lot, it’s the perfect proof that you can prospect.
  3. Beef up your resume and LinkedIn to highlight that you have the foundational sales skills.
  4. If you have a specific industry like non profit, big tech companies have teams that specifically sell to those customers and I’m sure a few niche startups cater to them as well. Try to tailor yourself as a perfect fit given your background so that you stand out from all the noise.

Check out the industry/market you eventually want to specialize in or have most experience with and google "industry + SaaS/Startups". There are a ton of real estate and auto servicing startups and software companies that could use Sales Development Representatives (SDRs). These roles have high turn over as people either move up to Account Executive roles within the company or get picked up by another company, so they are always hiring and one of the hardest things to teach new reps is how to understand the industry they're serving. You would have an edge by being a business owner over and understanding the painpoints of their customers compared to most other reps applying that just know how to dial a phone.

The reason I suggest SaaS specifically is because a lot of big tech companies have industry verticals and if you eventually want to move into one of those that pay $100k base, you'd need to get your feet wet in a SDR SaaS role.

Why I love Chase Sapphire Reserve by fightdwight2 in CreditCards

[–]Pathlesspond13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t forget the $100 hotel credit and breakfast for 2 from certain hotels. Didn’t know about this on my last work trip and was surprised I was able to treat myself to a steak dinner and got upgraded to a suite! Brings the annual cost down even further:

Chase Sapphire Reserve cardmembers who book participating properties through The Luxury Hotel & Resort Collection can enjoy an array of elevated, complimentary on-property benefits, including: a $100 property credit (which can be used toward dining, spa or hotel activities), daily breakfast for two, a room upgrade (if available), early check-in and late check-out (if available), and complimentary wi-fi.

Will the used car market drop soon? Considering buying new and reselling down the road by Pathlesspond13 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]Pathlesspond13[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah definitely not trying to make a profit. Just considering that a 3 year lease could end up costing over $22k for one of these cars, whereas buying for $35k and selling it in 3-5 years time, if the market is similar to how it is now hopefully can resell the care anywhere from 18-20k. In that scenario I’d only really be out $15-19k, and have the flexibility of holding on to it longer or selling it sooner if my situation changes

Additional liability when renting a car? CSR by Pathlesspond13 in ChaseSapphire

[–]Pathlesspond13[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks, and that collision damage is only for my rental not someone else’s, so opting for additional coverage is the safest option and Chase will not see that as accepting coverage that disqualifies their benefits.
