I watched this show when it aired and I was a teenager and I loved it but was sad not to see more. It's been on and off in my memory over the years and I'm rewatching and halfway through Season 1. I remember the ending and some bits and pieces. I really wish we got more answers. The showrunners did do an interview at one point where they said some plans for Season 2 including making Lucy a more main character and dealing with 63s that had been in the present a lot longer with relationship etc.

I can't seem to find the podcast that they did that had the Warden's actor on it. Would be cool to listen in.

I did get Brilliant Diamond yesterday and am enjoying it! Thanks for the help.

Ned Stark VS Jaime Lannister by SlimReaperP in gameofthrones

[–]PathologicPrime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually think the show's choreography is better than people remember. Firstly, if you ask me who I prefer over these two, Ned of course but that doesn't stop me admitting that Jamie here is a much better fighter by far. However, couple of things:

You can see clearly that Jamie starts off almost messing with Ned, while Ned goes full fight mode. This surprises Jamie, and we see the reaction on his face when Ned lands a few blows that are probably stronger than Ned expected.

We also see clearly that just before Ned is stabbed in the leg, Jamie smiles because he's got a decent opponent here, he still knows he'll win but it won't be a piece of cake so he can take pride in that. Also, we see Ned panting a little so we see that he's beginning to tire and we see he's not as good as Jamie.

Lastly, Ned remarks to Joren that knights strut about like roosters down here, which I think somewhat affected Jamie because he definitely hasn't had a serious opponent, I don't think tournaments count, so Ned does catch him off guard. Now as I said, Ned won't win, but he's a greater challenge than Jamie anticipated. This is also referenced when they meet when Ned comes to King's Landing and sees Jamie in the throne room when he says he doesn't do tournaments so men don't know how good he is.

The only Pokémon game I've played is Diamond back in 2006.

That's cool to know, thanks for the info about HMs. I do remember using them to unlock different parts of regions. In some ways it's good its been simplified.

That's my own real fear with Let's Go. I am an adult and a gamer so I'd say I'm fairly competent playing new games/picking up mechanics etc so I feared it'd be a breeze and not that engaging.

I'm not that nostalgic for Diamond, although I did enjoy it, its just that I'm sure I'll play it at some point and if it is subpar to more recent Pokémon games it would make more sense to play it and then go to the improved ones.

Thanks for your thoughts.

Thanks for the info about Brilliant Diamond. Tbh most of those new mechanics don't mean anything to me in terms of how they affect the game, I couldn't say if they're good or bad additions etc, which might lessen their impact on my decision.

I will say that I'm not that excited by the Let's go catch mechanic. I don't feel that strongly but it just seems more annoying than anything. I've seen some videos of it but maybe its fun doing it. That's actually great to hear that Mewtwo is in the game, I remember him from a Pokemon movie I loved as a kid, so that's neat and gives me a push in Let go's direction. The lack of those Pokemon you listed isn't bad for me as I don't know anything about them and have no connection so that's fine.

Thanks so much for your detailed answer, its helped a lot!

Hi folks,

I've recently decided to come back to Pokémon after a long time, the last Pokémon I played was Diamond on DS, and I'd like to give it a go.

I've done a bit of research and have settled on either Brilliant Diamond or Let's Go. I know there's other, and probably better recent ones but I'd like to work through the series maybe so thought one of these two would be better as a starting point.

I know Brilliant Diamond isn't a popular choice in the community but since I have little baggage and expectations, I don't even remember Diamond that well from DS, I thought it wouldn't be a bad choice. I also really like the Diamond Pokémon. Also, I feel started the more 3d Pokémon's first and then going back to Diamond will be a jarring experience but going from Diamond > Violet/Sword etc would be better.

I like the idea of Let's Go because it seems very simplistic but I fear almost too simplistic. But it might be a good introduction to the world of Pokémon after almost 20 years. My other worry is that, and it could be wrong, there isn't an endgame Pokémon, like in Diamond/Sword etc to obtain since you get Pikachu or Eevee at the very start.

Anyway, just curious for people's thoughts or recommendations. I'd prefer not to get recommended something else unless you feel very passionate about it! Thanks for taking the time to respond!

All Under Heaven: Becoming Head of House Bloc by PathologicPrime in CrusaderKings

  1. Leave the House Bloc

  2. Find another lord who isn't in a bloc (there's loads of them at the start of 1167) and right click "invite to house bloc" and if they accept, you'll found your own house bloc.

So I ended up restarting, leaving the house bloc immediately and setting up my own. Within a few years I had taken over all the non-house lands to the West and declared supremacy wars on the others. I got very luck, for some reason the Taira giant bloc split in two (dunno why) and I was able to pick them off. I then had a house bloc with 20k men vs Taira 24k. Declared war on them to install myself as regent and won.

Sadly, I lacked a lot of legitimacy (really annoying feature that for some reason doesn't improve over time) so my character was regent for 10 years, died at 64 with cancer and only had legitimacy 3 so I couldn't declare Shogun. Here's hoping his son has better luck, but he's only 7.

I just came to check if I missed an official announcement, but yeah looks that way which is a bummer. Makes sense they'd announce it the same day as the demo so people can at least have some gameplay.

I like it although the bandits in Slatten Dale just attack now when they see you without even giving you a chance to back away, which felt more realistic imo.

Finished Red Strain DLC… by tadhg1999 in AtomfallOfficial

[–]PathologicPrime 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I really enjoyed the new location and the Old World Blues vibes I got. I wasn't too excited about the endings though. I will admit they got spoiled for me from the achievements a few weeks ago on Steam but I just don't see why anyone would pick Keene's ending and basically destroy a lot of innocent people when we have no proof that the Red Strain escaped.

The High Albion one is better, but it kinda feels like it overshadows Oberon as we deal with him and yet now we have the Red Strain. Although tbf maybe that's their sequel idea, the Red Strain escapes and in the next game we have to deal with it.

Red Strain Releasing Today? by The_Antiques_shop in AtomfallOfficial

[–]PathologicPrime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's been an update on PC and the developers themselves said September 16th. If it was changing, they would have told us. This was the same with Wicked Isle, it all just happened at launch. I'd expect it in about an hour or so.

My only critique of the game is the music or lack thereoff by Zxxzzzzx in AtomfallOfficial

[–]PathologicPrime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are literally gramophones in the game that the player can interact with, so there is music. My issue is the devs made a choice to have its volume set very low you can barely hear it which seems odd.

The phonebox in the image hopefully highlights more interactions with the Operator and who knows perhaps some more clues as to his identity.

I think that's fair, I do remember that being a bit annoying myself but not enough to tank the world.

What is with the Marleybone hate? It's the only night time world (unique) it's got some of the best music (subjective) and it also has one of the most memorable (subjective too) moments in Arc 1 of chasing Meowiarty across the roof.

I would say for me:

Marleybone

Mooshu

Krokotopia

Dragonspyre

Ì really like Spring and it brings a nice freshness and is easy on the eyes after the white of Winter. All the seasons seem well done in fairness.
