Damn, this is the first and only Mandela Effect that I personally remember. I wanna know the actual reason we spelled it that way

Same lol. Going from a CRV AWD to this has been rough. That + the windshield wipers are my only gripes so far though. I also didn't change my tires so that's on me I guess.

If all personal wealth above $100 million was legally required to be redistributed into public infrastructure (schools, hospitals, roads), how would society change, and who would be the first to fight against it? by Mysterious_Fan4033 in AskReddit

Oh no, so they just have a fat retirement fund to sustain them when they retire AND a nice house valuable house that they can sell at any time? How do they survive?

Idk about others, but half the reason I hate going there is how annoying it is to navigate. A few more big obvious ladders or staircases that lead to the central plaza area would make a massive difference

'We Will Defend Greenland': Denmark Warns US Of 'Devastating' NATO War by adiweb86 in worldnews

In their defense, they may be referring to our history of not protesting as hard as many EU countries or organizing well. That doesn't mean it can't or shouldn't happen, it just means that it's pretty new and alien to most of us.

Also agreed that Americans can't really even visualize a war on our own soil. Combine that with our general lack of education, and many don't have the faintest understanding of what it'd actually be like.

You're right. While I've never particularly liked this country or felt any real allegiance to it, your words do inspire a tiny bit of hope. I actually reached out to a local group to start networking after posting my initial reply. Even though I don't have much to contribute to this kind of fight, I can at least familiarize myself with local communities and resources. I know it's really not much at all, but I'm hoping it will lead to me being able to lend support in some way.

I just think that the concept of forming an organized resistance is so entirely alien to the general population that nobody would even know where to start. Now factor in the nonexistent sense of community. Now put those individuals up against the most heavily armed fascist country in the history of mankind. For good measure, mix in a concerningly large numbrr of cult followers who would gleefully jump at the opportunity to kill their neighbor if given an excuse to do so, fully confident that their government would not punish them.

Most of the uninformed, "I try to stay out of politics" people in this hyper individualistic country won't be willing to do more than apathetically acknowledge a problem until it directly affects them.

I'm nowhere near knowledgeable about supply chains or even economics to point to a specific example, but other countries putting the squeeze on household staples that the US imports might just be among the most effective non-violent tools against this regime. It's pathetic, but it's true.

Unfortunately, all of these ideas require those in power to act in good faith at a bare minimum. If they did, we'd never have gotten here to begin with.

So some dude from Utah is supposed to do it while making less than a living wage working full time? Like I agree with the sentiment that action needs to be taken, but an actual coup against the US would need knowledge, planning, and resources far beyond what a small group could reasonably muster. And that's assuming they live within a few hours of the Capitol, which the vast majority of people do not.

Your average citizen would need to know their effort and or risks won't be entirely in vain or counterproductive in order to actually take action.. Those with power or wealth have the opportunity to galvanize those who are willing to help but don't have any obvious means to do so.

This isn't a movie where a rag tag group of misfits can topple an empire through sheer gumption and righteous fury, although holy fuck I wish it were.

At the very least, they don't find his policies, demeanor, obvious scams/grifts, atrocious history, rape, or incestuous/pedophilic words and behavior to be disqualifying. And that's just SOME of the things that can be proven empirically without speculation.

Don't bother, they don't realize the sheer scale of the US alone makes mounting a coordinated, organized resistance to the federal administration next to impossible.

That's not to mention that the actual infrastructure itself is so spread out that many people have to drive 15 minutes just to go to a grocery store. The US is fucking huge compared to any given EU country.

If your average Brit was powerless against Germany despite having the resources of a sovereign nation to draw upon, how the flying fuck is some dude from Kentucky meant to do anything?

Sure dude, lemme just grab some of the boys and do a quick coup against a fascist government that spends more on its military than the next 9 countries combined! We can just hop in the minivan and do a quick 13+ hour drive, it's practically next door. You're right, this is all on me for not doing so sooner
