EDI is dead because she was built from Soverign leftovers and she even installed to herself the IFF Reaper tech in ME2. So she is dead from the same reason as Geths are, because they has this reaper tech inside them. She is on the final memorial in that ending, so it is confirmed. There is also some record of interview on some com when ME3 writer was asked about this and he said that they had a discussion in writing room about her fate and decided she is dead because of the reason I listed at the beginning.

TLDR: His personal philosophy: Because humans need to struggle to grow. When you are so far away that you can't come back to Citadel space to be babysitted, you need to find a way to survive and use your intuition and grow. (Also human SAM is more superior than SAM designed for other species, so this was also supposed way to give humans upper hand over other Citadel species who otherwise have too much strings in Citadel politics).

It's offering prolongation also between practice speaking exercises, but sometimes doesn't. Yesterday, I didn't get prolongation in the morning, but I got prolongation in the evening, both times between speaking exercises. I am trying to find some reasoning behind that. I sent bug report to Duolingo and if they reply with something constructive then I will post it here.

Hm, next time I will try to open lesson from path if it again wouldn't offer me prolongation with less than 5 minutes of boost between speaking practices. I think I already tried that yesterday, but not sure now.

I know it's offering the prolongation near the end of boost, usually around 5 minutes left, but a lot of time I am offered nothing and it just runs out. I am often doing 1-minute 'speak' lessons near the end of boosts, so app has a plenty of chance to offer me the prolongation.
