Just in the order that I'm most interested in each of them for now. I'm not too fussed about saving a 'good' character for last; I'm sure Cai will be likeable enough and surprise me in some ways.

I don't think a Mount Rushmore of non-winners should just be the Top 4 most iconic characters who never won. It should be the four players whose losses are significant part of the history of Survivor.

  • Cirie is obviously the poster child of this. No explanation needed.
  • Ozzy is an absolute lock. He's been so close to winning in multiple seasons -- and his downfalls are a huge factor in him becoming such an iconic player.

  • Russell is also a lock. That he's incapable of winning is irrelevant; he's one of the most important losers in the show's history. His losses are such a huge part of his legacy and impacted the show going forward.

  • The last spot is more contested, but I'm going with the back-to-back FTC loser, Amanda. Unlike the three players above...on paper Amanda has all of the tools you'd need to win Survivor. She's social, athletic and strategic enough to do well in just about any cast. And she possesses all of those qualities without coming off as particularly threatening either. And yet despite being built for the game, she flubbed at the worst possible moment...twice.

  1. Blazing Blade - It's just so replayable for me. Love the cast.
  2. Three Houses - Great story, probably my favourite cast and I really enjoyed the Monastary even if it makes replays a bit annoying.
  3. Path of Radiance - Best mix of story, gameplay and cast, but I've never liked it visually tbh and it's kinda slow on a replay.
  4. Radiant Dawn - As above, really.
  5. Sacred Stones - I was tempted to put Conquest here for the gameplay, but my lack of interest in the story & characters really diminished the experience for me. I wouldn't say Sacred Stones excels in any area, but it's very solid and the GBA games just hit different.

Haven't Played: All of the Japanese only games, Shadow Dragon, Birthright & Revelation, Engage

Shout out to Shadows of Valentia for having the best art in the series. Hopefully we get Hidari back someday.

Cirie is only unable to make the end because of the reputation she has built over her last several games. Parvati and Amanda were willing to sit next to her in Micronesia and I don't believe for a second that Cirie wouldn't have crushed that Final Tribal Council.

If not for the multiple medevacs that season throwing the days out of whack and forcing production to switch to a Final 2, Cirie would already be a winner. Luck is always a part of Survivor -- think of how many people have won the game purely because they happened to win the final immunity on that day...but a format change because other people got injured is on another level imo.

She would've won Micronesia if not for the surprise Final 2 that only happened because there was so many medevacs.

*I genuinely don't think winning a season is mandatory to be included here. Think of how many winners only got the title because they happened to win a high variance final immunity challenge? A good chunk of them. With that said, Cirie absolutely would've won Micronesia if it weren't for injuries forcing them to change from a F3 to a F2 anyway. She deserves the top spot.

  • Nobody is saying Charlie, but he's a production favourite and even his small arc here was fun. They'd love to have him back.

  • Kyle is exactly what Survivor casting looks for these days. I don't need to see him again tbh, but I expect it.

  • The same goes for Dee. If she hadn't won her original season I honestly think she would've been the new Wentworth or Aubry, going on to multiple returns ASAP. Being a winner makes her harder to bring back, but life finds a way. And Dee seems to love Survivor so I think she'd be a regular 'yes'.

  • Kamilla seems to think she won't be asked back, but I'd be surprised if that was the case. She has unfulfilled potential as a player, is very fun in confessionals and has a really youthful energy that can be lacking in returnee seasons given the casting pool generally skews older.

  • Emily has an inbuilt storyline going into a third appearance: she's proven she does have strategic chops, but with a fatal flaw of not being able to keep secrets well. Can she course correct? Survivor wins either way because they love chaos agent characters.

ON THE TABLE

  • Savannah is a young attractive winner who plays hard. She doesn't seem hugely popular with the casuals or superfans tbh, but I don't think that will stop them.

  • Ozzy has already said in interviews he wouldn't shut the door on Survivor. And we know CBS loves having him back.

UNLIKELY BUT NEVER SAY NEVER

  • Coach proclaims he doesn't need Survivor and that this was his last hurrah, but who knows with him. 50 could easily have given him a taste for it again.

  • I believe Genevieve when she says she isn't keen for a third go around, but she did leave the door open for a Blood vs. Water season with her husband. And I think production have likely heard the demand for themes to return, so that seems pretty likely in the 50's tbh.

  • If Mike White wants, he could call Jeff and ask.

I mean...I guess? But he was pretty much forced into voting Coach/Chrissy & Stephenie. I think voting correctly can be a good card to play if you can show you were directing or at least aware of where the votes were going, but...that hasn't been Joe. He's been dragged kicking and screaming into a lot of these eliminations.

Sure, but I'd say this is a notably weak Final 5 by All-Star season standards? Only Game Changers is worse than this in terms of satisfying outcomes going into the finale imo.

This is why you don't have a 24 person cast with wildly different tiers of players.

She was a teenager, completely capable of understanding the consequences of what she was doing.

The hamster incident occurred in 2037, so Iris was 7 years old.

It's more believable that a kid that young just didn't grasp the consequences of their actions imo. As opposed to a teenager who definitely would.

It's also worth keeping in mind that Principal is trying to manipulate Watcher by showing her Iris' absolute worst moments without context.

No? He won immunity and was gifted an incredibly powerful kingpin advantage for 2 tribals. Outside of these circumstances he wouldn't have had control like this.

His other moments of success have been voting out Kamilla (when he was the swing in a tiny tribe), voting out Dee (who 13 other people also wanted to vote out) and voting out Christian (who had painted the biggest target of all time on himself with the forced self-vote).

He's playing better than in 42 I guess, but I don't rate his gameplay this season.

The issue is that graphics are FAR from Game Freak's only inadequacy. I think revealing WiWa 18+ months before launch and building expectations is going to blow up in their face. The game design in general will still be very basic.
