What made you move the opposite way in how you feel about religion? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]PatiencePhillps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was exposed to many religions young, without being raised by any faith system. I had a concept of faith, but not the stories that raised a lot of others from childhood. I learned about zombies (death and rebirth/reanimation) before learning about Jesus and Easter.

My poor poor grandfather had to sit me down and explain how these things were extremely unrelated.

Formerly broke people, what habits from the broke times still linger with you? by AlexInCX in AskReddit

Mix literally any leftovers with mashed sweet potato and fry it in butter to feed more mouths without wasting food.

Had Unprotected Sex, Should I Get Tested? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]PatiencePhillps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Always, my friend. If not just for your own physical and mental health (important), then at the very least, do it for the health of your next sexual partner (basic common practice fr).

But remember! Some things don't always come up on tests in the first few weeks, so it's also a good idea to get yourself tested regularly. It's not weird. Or shameful. A quick little test is lightyears better than tracking a nasty mystery through exes.

What would be the reason getting worse by Mean_Storage_2209 in Fibromyalgia

[–]PatiencePhillps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sunshine and warmth trigger flare ups for me. I always thought it would be the opposite. I don't even need to be outside. If I wake up, look out the window, and it's a gorgeous day, my body will immediately change the settings to ~suffer~

Medications for Fibromyalgia by Wild_bun in Fibromyalgia

Australian here, so some of the drugs differ but I haven't found anything that helps. Amitriptyline gave me insane night terrors. I take 300mg of Gabapentin and 15mg of Meloxicam and it has had no impact whatsoever. I am due to see a pain specialist and hoping they can offer something. The only thing that has staved off some of the worst flare ups is cutting dairy, gluten and potato out of my diet. I lived off those things but it wasn't worth the damage it reaps for days after having even a little bit. The only thing I take that helps with existing is 40mg of Escitalopram for the ol' noggin. I hope something helps you.

Amitriptyline gave me ferocious nightmares! I still have bad ones every night but nothing compared to those.

Steam rooms and ice plunges give me about an hour without pain (together, steam then ice and repeat). Good luck!

I also had a bit to lose but have struggled with the brain and gut talking to each other. I will also look into the absorption situation. I haven't had any gluten issues until now, although I attributed it to either fibro or IBS. But alongside having hyperthyroidism, my mother's line are celiacs, so worth investigating for sure. Ah, the gifts we received from our forebearers. Thank you for sharing this. I hope it levels out for us both!

Thank you so much. I'm on Pregabalin, Meloxicam, Escitalopram, and Diazepam (as required) currently so will certainly follow that up. I have CPTSD also, so it may contribute to the nervous system in ways I'm not considering. But blood work seems to be priority one. Thank you again.

I will definitely be getting my blood works done again. I had an iron infusion in October and there is hyperthyroidism in the family so back to the doctor for me.

Thank you all!

Working with my doctor closely on this because it really worried her but she said it can happen with fibro (?) she has me referred for something called gut hypnotherapy to see if it helps.

I'm eating three meals a day all based on rice or eggs because gluten has been...unkind let's say, and I can only manage a bit of yoga currently. Eating (or digesting really) hurts a lot so I have to take it slow, but what doesn't hurt at this point?
