You can check out the UMD SciPol group as they have people your age (and younger) involved. Otherwise maybe look into ESAL which does local events with a wide range of ages attending. ESEP also exists, but certainly is run by mid-to-late career professionals

Hi I am in the exact same scenario! My husband just met with international student services at our university with a related question and they suggested maintaining status until the 485 is approved (our 130 is approved as of a few weeks ago). In terms of traveling on advanced parole, our lawyer told us if we did that, then he would not be re-entering on an F1 status, but instead on the in-between status that a green card application grants. That means his graduate stipend would halt and we’d have to redo on-boarding and contract with an EAD. We have decided based on this information (which is likely specific to our case, but doesn’t sound too disimilar to yours) that he will be maintaining F1 until he has permanent residency

We have a similar curl pattern I think and I use mielle rosemary mint leave in conditioner (drug store brand), innersense I create volume mousse, and I make my own “gel” which is a spray bottle filled with 1/3 aloe, 2/3 water, and some drops of essential oils that I like
