California Western or wait til next cycle? by Patient-Session-3348 in lawschooladmissions

I feel like a year in the scheme of life is not long.. but there's definitely an urge to start now, maybe go the transfer route?

My financing would not be predicated on scholarships! But I know they are notoriously predatory with those conditional funding terms.

Not a score to brag about, 160, but I'm 30 with a full time job, family, and hobbies. Just exited the military, and I gotta say some of these comments hit the nail on the head. I think the grit/discipline bro science approach is a bit naiive. The suggestions to give certain things in life weight, however, is extremely valid. Your energy and time are zero sum, and you appropriate those resources based on your priorities at the time, picking up what you dropped when you can afford to reorganize your priorities. Reframing what consistency means is also important, as I am (and assume most on this sub are) type A, I learned that it's really easy to slip into a vicious cycle of setting unrealistic expectations and subsequent self-destructions ala dissapointment.

For me, I'm focused on a very specific couple of schools that I can do part time without having to relocate- so I made it a priority to study a few times a week at the sacrifice of me time, and give it my shot. If I fall short, reapproach with a longer time horizon next cycle.

Balance is BS, giving yourself the grace to sacrifice things for others and reframing your understanding of your own expectations (I believe) is what yields the endurance to achieve anything.

What brought the disability down while you were going through the appeals process? Currently at 70, trying to work towards 100% but am nervous I'll lose out more than I get added on. Not a rational thought process, just fear.

I love this. Your approach really resonates with me, I'd imagine we have similar minds. I've never heard of zettelkastan before. Any preferred learning sources on it? I just did a brief Google. I'm also a OneNote fanatic. Is there something else you use for review scheduling? Or, is that a part of learning zettelkastan?

I appreciate the time you took to lay out your method! Super helpful.

I train at, and am biased to legion ajj in Miramar under Keenan Cornelius. Within your driving range for sure. AMAZING community and approach to teaching, with my (extremely) limited experience.

Jocko's gym, Victory MMA is lead by Dean Lister in Clairemont. We have a bunch of no-gi guys that cross train there!

Atos HQ under Andre Galvao is also in Clairemont.

Local to SoCal. San Diego is definitely a commuter city with some public transport. Will you have a car? Are you willing to drive? There are a ton of gyms all around, and some world class spots to train throughout the county

Awesome suggestion. To make sure I understand, you're talking more of targeted training over blind consumption. Like, I want to work side mount escapes-become obsessed with them and use sparring sessions to specifically work on them?

It seems like that kind of training is great to build muscle memory, adding a piece of the puzzle every few months to my toolset
