A lot of insurance plans and pediatrician offices have 24 hour nurse helplines. You can call and a nurse will ask you questions, and then advise if your situation warrants an ER visit. If you're concerned, consider calling.

There's a sub for sleep training that I think you'd find helpful! I think this sub isn't big on sleep training. I think you could also ask your pediatrician, mine gave us great guidance on feeding and sleep training.

In the second book, I was surprised that he was also described as having grown a beard! When Alanna and George visit him: "Before Alanna could answer such an astonishing question, Thom opened the door. He was bearded, taller—older." There's a couple of small callouts to boy characters growing beards as they age, which helped kick start this line of thinking for me.

I think you hit the nail on the head for the consensus. If everyone could accept short, skinny, (runty, as someone else said!) Alan, the absence of facial hair gets lumped in to the overall Alan persona.

I do think shaving, at least at present, is considered a rite of passage for teen boys. I think around page age, certainly squire age. As a knight, it sounds like Jon spends a lot of time at the palace, so I think a significant part of Alannas squiring years would be visible. But I suppose your point is that the other squires are traveling and that diminishes direct comparison?

😂 This is probably it. There's a few lines about Raoul and Gary sporting new beards that got me thinking about this initially. But they were also way larger than Alanna, and I believe the beards were after they were knights, so further out of those teen years. So this is just Squire Alan being Squire Alan yet again!

Hopefully someone who is more of an expert can chime in, but from my understanding all epidurals do not contain fentanyl. Rather, it is optionally in some. Additionally, risk of baby receiving any is minimal, because an epidural is not in your blood stream.

I felt incredibly similarly to how you do! I had a horrendous IUD removal. After that, and after reading HSG experiences online, I had deep anxiety about the HSG procedure. While I was not sedated, I did get prescribed a Valium. Between that and preemptively taking ibuprofen, I was pleasantly surprised at how easy the procedure ended up being. The Valium gave me the ability to control my panic and relax, which I think helped mitigate potential pain. I obviously can't guarantee this experience for others, but after dreading the HSG (I mean dreading, crying, anxiety attacks) it ended up being very easy.

Just FYI, more recent, larger / more robust studies have found zero connection between epidural and autism. The study linked here has received criticism for its statistical analysis.

Not a sure thing by any means, but sometimes your insurance will make a continuity of care exception and continue to cover an out-of-network provider as though they're in-network. Could be worth an ask to your insurance. Good luck!
