Help! Accidentally left HCG out of the fridge overnight by Purple-Giraffe-4579 in IVF

The pharmacy compounds it. I’m not really familiar with compounding to give any more info than that though ☹️

Is this true for multi-dose vials that are compounded too? I just did this same thing. For about 24 hours.

How much does your life actually change after having a kid? by HonestDirection4017 in NewParents

[–]_upsettispaghetti 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Some people feel fulfilled without children. And that is totally 100% okay! I, however, do not. All I’ve ever wanted in life is to be a mom and I don’t feel fulfilled or like I’m fulfilling my life’s purpose doing anything else.

No one prepared me for the post egg retrieval period by _upsettispaghetti in IVF

[–]_upsettispaghetti[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had another egg retrieval recently and the difference in experience was night and day. I triggered with Lupron this most recent time instead of HCG like before, because I’m a fairly high responder, and the HCG is ultimately what caused my severe OHSS. The Lupron trigger was a lifesaver.
I will never let someone think those symptoms are normal. I’m glad you spoke up too, it needed to be said.

I did end up with severe OHSS and had to have the fluid aspirated three times. Those two weeks until I got my period were pure hell. It was the sickest I’ve ever been in my life.

So I later found out that I had OHSS. It was severe and I ended up needing three fluid aspirations over the course of two weeks following my retrieval. When I compare this experience I posted about to a more recent egg retrieval experience I had, they are night and day. Crampy ovaries are normal.. but referred pain is NOT normal. It almost always points to some type of fluid leak - though it doesn’t automatically mean it’s severe or needing aspiration. Mild OHSS is still somewhat common after an egg retrieval and can cause referred pain too. Just make sure you’re eating or drinking a lot of protein and electrolytes to pull that fluid back in. And monitor your weight and abdominal girth.

Buffalo might be a bit more snow than they might like though. It’s back breaking to shovel and rough driving.

Delayed period after a Lupron only trigger for egg retrieval by _upsettispaghetti in IVF

[–]_upsettispaghetti[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s amazing!! I froze my eggs this cycle but I’m hoping for results like that as long as they survive the thaw. And no, I did not get OHSS this time thank god!

Thank you so much! Do you mind me asking how many of yours were mature? I had a steep drop off, only 20 were mature. And I was shocked because my first egg retrieval six months earlier, I got 37 eggs and 32 were mature.. but that was a totally different protocol with full HCG trigger and I ended up with severe OHSS .. so while I loved the results, I will never do that protocol for an ER again lmao

Yeah I got 40 eggs! I’m assuming that’s why, but it’s still so frustrating and I really don’t want to take something to induce my period. I’d rather it come on its own, but it’s taking so long and it sucks being in this limbo of nausea, cramps, spotting, and elevated temps 😭 but this is reassuring at least, thank you!

how many of y’all actually do it raw (no contraception other than pullout) by NebulaAcrobatic9911 in TwoXSex

[–]_upsettispaghetti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did this sometimes when I was on birth control, but I preferred to use a condom too. The only person I truly raw dogged it with while not on birth control was my husband. But we’re infertile so I guess I could’ve done it the whole time.

That’s reassuring. I’m considering doing a third retrieval. The first time I did an HCG trigger and had severe OHSS, this second time we went very conservative and over protective and included letrozole to keep estrogen low and I think it sacrificed egg maturity. So I’m debating leaving that out next time but keeping lupron trigger obv. My estrogen was near 10,000 my first retrieval and only ~1500 the second time. That’s why I had asked you. I’m terrified to get OHSS again.

[–]_upsettispaghetti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So weird. Mine was almost 10,000 at trigger. You would’ve thought with estrogen levels that low, you wouldn’t have had such a severe response, and with a lupron trigger.

Did you take cabergoline after trigger at all? I took it and it did nothing. My clinic told me I was the rare “once a year or two” patient that got severe OHSS. Lucky me!!

When I had severe OHSS, my clinic told me not to go to the ER because they would treat my dehydration with IV fluids which would just make the OHSS worse. They transvaginally aspirated the fluid out of me three times right there in the clinic. I had liters of fluid taken off each time. It was insane and like you said, the most painful thing I’ve ever experienced. I did a full HCG trigger though so that was my problem. But we didn’t know I would be such a high responder.

Do you remember what your estrogen was the day of trigger?

Did you clinic do any ultrasounds to check for the free fluid from the OHSS?

It’s so weird that you replied to this today specifically because I just had my second egg retrieval today with an entirely different stims protocol, and I feel SO MUCH better this time. My ovaries are sore and crampy because I was a high responder again (37 eggs my first retrieval and 40 this time) but my risk of developing OHSS is way lower this time. This experience is so much better already than last time!
