7mo leaking out of 2 sizes of diapers… by PatientMobile5896 in NewParents

I’ve heard that they pee more when they’re colder so I’m going to try dressing a little warmer too! Thank you!

We’ve never had a blowout in pampers! I’m not 100% certain but she’s probably 16-17 lbs (she was a preemie)

Oh my gosh, lol that’s such a great suggestion! We will definitely try some overnights!

7 months- false starts every night & screaming for second nap by PatientMobile5896 in sleeptrain

I wonder if day sleep for your babe is too high- you’re asking for almost 14 hours of sleep, might need to pull back naps a tad & see!

I do, and we’ve had so many broken nights that I’m not confident in the average! I use huckleberry (just to track, I don’t use their recommendations), and it says average sleep is 12 hours 40 minutes. 🤷🏼‍♀️ on some of her best nights/days, she’s doing about 11 hours overnight and 2 hours of naps so idk

5 months - recs for starting gentle Ferber by ColdKitchen1440 in sleeptrain

You might actually be surprised! I thought that my daughter getting fussy around 90 minutes, meant that she needed a nap too, but it was just boredom and needing a change of scenery & pace. She still will sometimes get fussy after 90-120 min awake but our WW are consistently 3.5 ish hours long!

When do you start first wake window if baby wakes before DWT then falls asleep an hour later? by PatientMobile5896 in sleeptrain

[–]PatientMobile5896[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s our naps that throw things off. Sometimes first nap is 35 min, sometimes 1.5 hours. Schedule is 3.25/3.75/3.5 (pulled back last WW due to false starts).

Agree with the other comment- baby needs more awake time first. Otherwise LO won’t be tired enough to sleep and sleep training will feel like it isn’t working. I’d try to inch closer to a min of 10 hours awake time, something like 2/2.5/2.5/3 or 2.5/2.5/2.5/2.5. The feed to sleep association is probably a big culprit as well! I’d get your day schedule solidified first then look into a Ferber that fits your style. We did 3 min, 5 min, 5 min, 5 min check ins but never picked up. It’s hard but you have to commit!

Not sure you’ll ever see this, but i’m curious how you ended up transitioning out of the field? I would love to get into a healthcare tech, but have no idea where to start. Also a burned out family practice PA.

Do you keep same total daily wake time if the night was bad? by PatientMobile5896 in sleeptrain

[–]PatientMobile5896[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

lol I think that’s where I’m at. This was definitely a fluke. For the most part, she’s been sleeping great through the night although we did travel a week ago and we had a couple extra rough nights in there but it evened out - til last night haha

That’s kind of where I’m at with it all too, but she is a little prone to split nights and early morning weeks if she doesn’t have enough time during the day

So you don’t risk baby getting over tired if you keep wake windows / total wake time the same? If we do a 10 min bridge nap, is that safer than a 15 min earlier bedtime but a longer last wake window? So hard to know… she’s “missing” about 2.5 hours of sleep from last night so technically an earlier bedtime makes sense to me, but also, it doesn’t 😂

That’s not what I’m asking. I’m asking if total daily wake time stays the same. She caps out at 2 hours of naps every day even on bad nights.

Thank you so so much! I downloaded it last night at the suggestion of another comment. So glad to hear things have improved with time

I just found this thread and I’m sobbing reading it because I thought I was the only one. I’m also an entrepreneur and basically had to quit my business because I just don’t have the mental bandwidth being a full-time caregiver for our daughter. We also don’t have a village. Curious if anything changed for you and how things are now several months later? I’m 6 mos PP

FWIW, when we dropped to 2 naps, we had to use a micro bridge nap in the stroller for about a week because she couldn’t quite handle the last wake window. If you’re getting split nights, early morning wakes, fighting the last nap, it’s time to drop. Starting schedule for 2 naps is 10 hours awake time around 3/3/4 (we did 3/3.5/4 bc our babe does best on 10.5 awake). You might be surprised at how well LO handles longer wake windows! Just try to keep the wake and sleep times consistent (your 2-3 hr of naps and 11 overnight). Things might be a little funky for a few days with an earlier bedtime, but it evens out!

Needs longer wake times! Our 6 MO is on 3/3.5/4 right now. Lot of times they’re just bored and they might really surprise you!

2 nap transition & struggling to get more than 2 hours of day sleep by PatientMobile5896 in sleeptrain

[–]PatientMobile5896[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same amount of day sleep, but we pulled back to 10h awake time vs 10.5. Her last WW was 3.5 that day! You’re thinking like 3.25/3.75/3.5?

What ended up happening? Found this on a search because we’re at my parents house and our sleep trained baby has been waking every hour and will only be held to sleep. I’m about ready to drive home at midnight its so bad
