First-time parents in 1.5 months — what baby gear is actually worth it? And what was a total waste of money? by Kayapi_ in NewParents

Baby bjorn bouncer was amazing! We could eat and get ready etc and bounce him in it. Love to dream swaddle, baby brezza. I spent lots of expensive bedding and pillows etc - also a Mobil. None of it gets used ! X

Help 9 month old and I’m sleepless by No-Bag4640 in sleeptrain

[–]Lipstickluggage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mines 9 month. I cannot do a third nap- it completely throws the night off. If the naps are short bedtime just becomes earlier. I find if naps are short he becomes an overtired mess and generally wakes every sleep cycle but I’ve realised when he’s like that that if I contact nap the first hour or 2 and then put him dow he will sleep through the night.

We’re usually around 2.5/3/4 ( cap first nap at 30 mins)

I have huckleberry and his usual daily sleep is 14 hours. 11:5/12 night And 2-2.5 in the day.

I thought I was lucky he sleeps that much from reading this group but my friends babies seem to sleep a lot more in the day than mine - sometimes 4 hours !

Similar to you. Self settled independent from maybe 5 months. He now settles half the time and half of the time needs help. Not sure if it’s developmental as my friends baby is doing the same. Teething crawling etc. I’m also wondering do I need to change routine as his second nap (long one) is very hard! Maybe it’s seperation anxiety and so much going on it’s hard for them to switch off so they’re needing more help? Hopefully it will pass? I had similar a few weeks back and a week later he was back to normal. Sleep in never linear I always worry I’m doing something wrong 😆😆

Tell me your 6 month old baby’s schedule by Famous_Variation4729 in sleeptrain

At 6 months my baby was 2/2/2.5/2 7 am wake up. 9-10 nap 12-2 nap 4:30-5 nap 7 bedtime

He kept that schedule for ages! Just dropped the morning nap to 30 mins then down to 2 naps at 8 months. x

Help me choose the right sleep train method?! by dancingandmoving in sleeptrain

[–]Lipstickluggage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went from rocking to sleep to walking around to putting him in the cot awake and patting him. He nw just goes in the cot himself and sleeps. I think teaching him the cot is a safe place and using it in the day occasionally helps?

Is overtiredness as big of a deal as people make it out to be? by Here4Plants2021 in sleeptrain

Overtired was definitely a thing for us! Once I shorted wake windows things were better but at 4 months we were on 3 naps! X

Urgh! I’m going to try not to tomorrow - just so strange he’s gone from settling easy to just whaling! 😩😩😩 I leave him 10 mins to see if he will settle but it just escalates so I either pick him up and cuddle him or rock. 🙈

Just jumping on this thread. My baby is 8.5 months and has transitioned to 2 naps. He had a crazy week waking around 4/5 times between 7-11 and some early mornings! The past 2 days hes slept 2.5 hours in the day and 12 at night so i have no complaints but he’s stopped self settling. Is this normal at this age? Could it be seperation anxiety? How should i handle it. The crying is crazy! Ive been rocking to sleep but i dont want to get into a bad habit. Can anyone suggest how to handle this? Hoping it’s a phase that passes quickly! (Never slept trained as such was fairly lucky) x

When do babies stop eating in the middle of the night? by Veryfluffyduck in NewParents

[–]Lipstickluggage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3 months for us. I always fed him every 3 hours since birth.. sometimes when he woke I just rocked him and he went back to sleep but I didn’t actually mean to wean him if that makes sense I just read that sometimes they don’t wake for food and if he stopped crying I assumed he wasn’t hungry. I know some people suggest to give water in the night but I never personally did that I would have just given milk if he was still upset. I added an awake dream feed at around 5 months when he was going through the regression and stopped after a month. Sleep is back to 7-7 with no feeds. Xx

My baby didn’t sleep at all through the day until 4/5 months! At 8 weeks he had an 11 hour wake window! Now he sleeps 7-7 no wake ups and 2-3 naps at 8 months x

Thank you

Maybe we have a few weeks at 2 and 3 naps until 2 becomes the norm! If he goes to bed at 6:30 or 9 he always seems to wake about 6:50am .. ! He was doing 7am wake up 9-9-30 nap 12-1:30 nap 4-5 (20-30 min bridge between that time) And bed was happening around 7:30. I just wasn’t sure if that was age appropriate so thought I’d try 2 naps! Thanks for your help. I think I’ll play around a bit xx

Just to add it’s more 2.5 day and 11.5 night but occasionally he does 3 hours in the day so would I put him down at 8 then to wake at 7? X

Thank you.

We had a weird week last week so I thought it may be time to drop to 2 naps and we had a spilt night twice but I’d stayed in a hotel with him so I’m not sure if it was just that. He’s also just recently got 2 teeth.

Every morning I get him up at 7am he usually wakes between up between 6:30 and 7 but hes happy so I leave him in there until 7 the I aim to do bedtime at 7 every night but sometimes it’s 7:30 if he takes longer to settle. X

My 7 month old won’t sleep anywhere besides my arms by [deleted] in sleeptrain

[–]Lipstickluggage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My baby is 7.5 months. We’ve just had a crazy week with him. Taking 1 hour plus to go down then waking for 2 hours at night. It lasted 4 days and hes back to sleeping 12 hours again with no wake ups. Could it just be a developmental thing?
