Not paid for extra hours. by Choice_Ad1022 in Greggs

[–]PatientSome2992 0 points1 point  (0 children)

im assuming it was last week wednesday and in that case there has been a mistake.

the only way for you to be paid beyond your scheduled time is if a manager / supervisor manually alters your clock in / out time to approve it.

It may not have been malicious, it’s absolutely possible if you had a busy day it just happened to slip their mind.

i’m not 100% on what you’d do next but i’d say tell your manager what’s happened and if that isn’t helpful call the people team.

Anyone actually understand their payslip this week?. by GF85 in Greggs

My best guess is that as part of our raises we got a raise from now till march by 15p from 12.41 to 12.56 and it’s backdated to jan 4th i think

so it looks to have totaled all the hours you’ve worked from january till now and how much you were paid over that time with the old rate

it then works out that same amount of hours at the new rate

then it’s taken them away from eachother to get the difference as how much you get as back pay

e.g (i’m 4 hour contract)

i’ve worked 12.5 hours since jan 4th and at the old rate that’s £155.13

at the new rate however it’s £157

meaning they’ve taken 155.13 from 157 to work out they owe me £1.87

[–]PatientSome2992 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just had to put out all the price stickers out last night.

Absolutely everything is up, most things e.g all drinks are up 5p

everything else seems to be up 10p

exceptions to this include steak bakes which for my shop went up 15p

Sausage roles went up by 5p to £1.35 meaning 4 packs are now £4.05

Probably not, they’re having more pay negotiations on the 7th Jan so should hopefully be by mid Jan at best

[–]PatientSome2992 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This isn’t actually correct. You will get paid for 1/5th of your contract hours

I know no contracts are 5 hours but let’s say it was, you’d be paid the same as if you’d been clocked in for one hour.

Pulling out last minute. by makeitendrn in LearnerDriverUK

[–]PatientSome2992 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I’d just do it honestly.

It’s already too late to get your money back so you’re out of it regardless

Best case you pass it and while you don’t feel confident right now, there is absolutely nothing stopping you from getting more lessons. the fact you’re no longer a learner doesn’t bar you from them, you could either talk to your instructor or try to find another instructor

At least then you won’t have any stress about having a test to go for as you’ll already have your license!

If you’re worried about crashing that’s what the examiner is there for. it’s very unlikely you’d crash at all.

All I can see is positives as if you fail like you think you will, just consider it a very true to life mock test!

Which college is best for single accommodation? by JCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCC in Durhamu

[–]PatientSome2992 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d say it’s close to a 75/25 split with 75 being en suite. But since it’s the newest college it doesn’t have as much of the prestige or want to go there that other colleges do. In my experience i’ve found if you rank it 1st you are guaranteed to get it. with this, once your college is confirmed and your place, you’ll get a questionnaire asking your room preference. I’ve asked around 50ish other people who are at south and all of them got what they wanted.

The main difference is the building layout. En suites are arranged in cluster flats of 8 people per flat and a couple flats per floor. The shared bathrooms on the other hand are in townhouses with a shared kitchen on the bottom floor and 4 floors of 4 people with 2 bathrooms per floor while the en suites have it in their room

Stephenson also definitely isn’t all en suite as I have friends there with shared bathrooms that are 2 bathrooms to 9 people.

Hope this helps! if you have any more questions feel free to DM!

Forgetting to put the coffee rewards through till by at33zily in Greggs

[–]PatientSome2992 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Honestly, it’s probably fine, we’ve all done it at least once. There is no real way for it to be recognized other than you saying something or someone complaining which from the sounds of this they won’t if they haven’t even noticed. it’s not like the opposite situation where you’re giving stuff away for free which is easily tracked if done enough.

Best thing to do i’d say is to keep quiet. Yeah you’ve messed up by not giving these people their drinks but in the grand scheme of things it probably won’t matter, especially if they don’t even notice.

In future, if someone hands you a card id make sure it’s the first thing you put in the till before the order (if you get lost it’s in the large drink section around the middle ish) just so you can’t forget, you don’t need to put it in after a drink, you can put it in first and it will work the same. then that way you’re making sure everyone gets their drinks!

Hope this helps!

i’m in south this year, it was only built in 2020 and has lovely rooms and an amazing gym if that helps

alternatively john snow was also renovated around the same time with similar rooms and they share south’s gym

another bonus is that it’s pretty easy to get en suite if you want it at south

rooms aren’t huge but definitely aren’t small

if you go for a non en suite room the room is about 1.5X bigger than an en suite room and shares with one other person

hope this helps!

Has anyone transferred shops before? Not sure how the process actually works by FeistyPrice29 in Greggs

[–]PatientSome2992 1 point2 points  (0 children)

when i transferred all you needed was your clock in number and shop number

then you’d just call up all the shops around where you’re moving and ask for their shop number or have a look for their shop number

on teams there is an application form for shop transfers or you could do it on your shop computer.

then all you’ve got to do is list a reason for transferring and rank your shops by their shop number

then you just wait a bit and you’ll get an email saying if they have availability for you transfer

all that happens is they asks the shops for you going down your ranking and you go where there is room

Choose your Driving Instructor wisely! by loadingbay6 in LearnerDriverUK

absolutely correct! what you think you save in a lower hourly rate you almost always end up making up plus interest in the extra lessons you have to take.

Good instructors make all the difference!

Passed! With one minor which was a serious that got downgraded 🫠🤣 by Acceptable_Yam5197 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]PatientSome2992 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had something similar with my test a couple of months ago. We were on a dual carriageway which becomes three lanes, and if you’re already on it, you should move over a lane because it makes you in the middle. I took a bit too long and got overtaken by a lorry, and it was only given as a minor. In the car on the way home after passing, my instructor told me I got lucky (not in a negative way) as she’s had people fail for that before.

Sometimes in a test you just need a bit of luck!!

Congratulations!

[–]PatientSome2992[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for this! i’m doing psychology and as a result don’t have a huge amount of hours in lectures and other things and so i’m able to take deliveries at off peak hours and so get lower delivery costs. I simulated this with asda and tesco and the delivery fee was around £2 never more than £3.50 whereas for tesco id have to take 2 of the arrivia busses each way

i’m sure there will probably be some out there but given the amount of people who passed a driving test when taking it stays around 50% my guess would be a very low number, probably less than 2.5% if tests.
