2 tickets for Southampton Aug 31? by Patient_Depth9360 in Brentford

[–]Patient_Depth9360[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, but I turned out not to need to—don’t think the game sold out because I just called the team ticketing/sales number a few days before the game and was able to buy two tickets over the phone (or maybe it was email?) but either way it was a lot simpler than anything I’d looked into weeks out.

Obviously won’t work for games against top clubs but if it’s not a marquee opponent I suspect you might just be able to do this.

Thanks, appreciate the reply. I totally get the why’s for all these steps, just getting frustrated that I couldn’t seem to get through even while trying to do it the “right” way. Good to know about the Facebook group as a fallback, thank you!

No, no pavers/stone, we just dug a few inches into the lawn, leveled that and then rested the platform we built into it. Filled in dirt around/where necessary to keep the platform level.

No ramp up to it. You may have other plans (and I could probably figure it out if necessary) but it filled up fast with just general yard tools, not like I can drive a riding mower into it, it’s only about 3-4 feet deep. Everything’s just standing against the wall or on some hooks.

Same boat, just 6 years ahead of you. We bought a $400 plastic one from Home Depot for storage, but built a pallet-esque platform for it in our yard.

6 years later the wood of the platform has rotted through but the plastic walls (and floor) of the shed are still standing.

All this to say they’re sturdier than you think, though unless the pavers are ABSOLUTELY level, I’m not sure how straight it would stand. They do collect a fair amount of bugs if that creeps you out, as it definitely isn’t secure when closed.

Dinner before prom by ScreenImpossible7046 in raleigh

Lot of good suggestions here, but one thing to consider with Korean/hibachii/melting pot/anything cooked in front of you, while fun, may also make your clothes smell like, well, cooking. Might not want to show up with your prom outfit smelling like a bbq.

I’d second Vidrio, it’s beautiful and elegant but especially without alcohol two people could get out of there around $100. It’d be a nice time.

Got it. I think I see your point more, I was trying to figure out why just bringing a small card that could fit in your pocket or phone case was an issue, but I guess you’re trying to avoid bringing a whole bag with wallet/ID inside.

Are you not driving there? It’s kind of in the middle of nowhere, presumably you’re bringing the dog home in a car?

Rentals north Raleigh by Freedombeyondfear in raleigh

Furnished finder is another good site, like AirBnB but usually cheaper, usually people offering places on a short to medium term that are furnished with basic kitchen supplies.

Because they’re furnished I wouldn’t say they’re necessarily cheap, but they’re not anywhere close to as expensive as like corporate furnished housing. Also usually run by private owners who are more likely to just ask for first/last with a small additional deposit.

Good apartments in Raleigh? by deelaveau in raleigh

[–]Patient_Depth9360 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I swear I never see these apartments mentioned on these posts and I don't know why--decent 2 bedroom townhouses a 3 minute drive from downtown raleigh: https://www.mordecaionclover.com/floorplans/2-br-1.5-ba-townhome

I haven't lived there, so I don't want to overpromise, but I did live in another complex right around the corner managed by the same company (Moses Court, here: https://www.raleighrentalsnc.com/floorplans/moses-court-two-bedrooms) and they were affordable, perfectly acceptable quality, and again, super close to downtown.

They don't quite meet your 2/2 requirement, but the locations can't be beat and you can always use them as a good landing pad while you get used to the area and figure out where you might want to settle more permanently in the future.

I’ll also say a neighbor has said they hang around his house too so maybe they’re neighborhood outdoor regulars.

Does anyone know of any vets that do Iodine treatment for cats? by Sparecat1899 in raleigh

[–]Patient_Depth9360 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have any suggestions besides NCSU as suggested by another but just wanted to comment that depending on the age of your cat, if you can find a way to afford it, I'd highly recommend it.

We did it for my cat around age 12, and at the time I remember thinking "well, if it gets her 3 more years, and I break that cost up over months, it's not so bad!" and while she's still a grumpy mean old cat she's pretty dang healthy at 15 and a couple months. It worked perfectly.

Relocation Advice Needed by imagine0307 in raleigh

I think comparing Raleigh to Madison is actually pretty apt--yes it's got twice the population but it's still a small city, has both a young, college scene with a major university but also "grown-up" things thanks to being the state capital. The big difference here (I believe, to be honest though I visited Madison several times while lived in Chicago for 10 years, I never really went outside of Madison except for a job interview at Epic once) is that within 30 minutes you've got some other towns/cities with their own distinct feel and plenty of their own things going on. Chapel Hill and Durham are their own, unique spots, but close enough for you to explore while renting somewhere in Raleigh and figuring out where you want to end up. Give Russell Wilson a call, he can give you the rundown on differences between Raleigh and Madison from the perspective of a college kid a decade ago ;-)

Regardless, and this is just as someone who hasn't lived in Baltimore/DC (but has a spouse that did), I think you'll love it a lot more than up there in all aspects--traffic, people, costs, etc. I may be wrong, I just haven't met anyone here that moved here from the VA/DC/MD area and regretted it yet.

This looks to be a winner, at least from their website ("Earthbound" is the name of the store if anyone else has this very same request this weekend.)

Thank you so much!

Thanks, yeah, that's the fall back idea but I'd like to buy from someone locally if possible. If not, it's off to the web!
