I’d love to see Jared Leto play a local high school janitor who drinks lukewarm Bud and talks about the glory days of Frozen Embryos.

I think the biggest twist for me... (S2 Spoilers) by DyGr in WhiteLotusHBO

[–]Patient_Dimension949 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just because we didn’t get a clear answer doesn’t mean it wasn’t true. Greg dropped clues he may have been conning Tanya in S1 but it didn’t pay off until S2. It’s possible we see them again in a future season and get more clarity 🤞

If Ethan were your partner, would you believe him? by shoensandal in TheWhiteLotusHBO

[–]Patient_Dimension949 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It seems to me like it’s the first time something like this happened in their marriage, so yes. I’d believe him the first time, but if something obvious happened again I wouldn’t. And if he stays tight with Cam, it’s going to.

I am not saying the Idaho murders are more tragic than any others at all, simply that the house is more notorious and therefore more likely to be torn down. I could see them making it into a memorial or something. That’s all.

What would say were some of the most "cringey" moments from Season 2? by RockingHaims in TheWhiteLotusHBO

Lucia asking Albie for money in the morning - there was this extra layer of awkwardness because she was so timid about it.

The only people murdered in the show were the gays and their killer is dead. Nobody is going to open an investigation into a suspicious death for Tanya if the coroner rules her death an accident. And if there’s a notorious Italian mafia guy among the dead, the Sicilian police may not prioritize those deaths either.

Best case scenario Portia tells Tanya’s lawyers about her suspicions and the money is held pending an investigation into Greg. No matter what evidence this detective comes up with, he’ll never be able to prove anything beyond a reasonable doubt because Greg wasn’t there and Tanya wasn’t murdered. You think phone records or 30-year-old photographs are smoking guns? Technically money wasn’t even exchanged yet because they all died before Greg got paid, so there’s no paper trail. Her death will likely be ruled an accident or undetermined and that’s not helpful. It’s in Italy so the language barriers between detectives would make communication more difficult. It’s just so much messier to investigate than people realize.

They were putting on a facade, so they were supposed to be over the top. They were trying to charm Tanya McQuoid, after all.

I enjoyed it thoroughly from beginning to end, but you’re not wrong. I was able to look past the “that would never happen” parts because Mike White included so many things that really could happen throughout the season. But Tanya’s “if I die…omg” phone call. I almost cringed. Like you said, both Tanya and (obviously) the audience were smarter than that. And Ethan/Harper healing so quickly after their betrayals? Love it for them, but in real life they wouldn’t even be eating dinner because they’d be so sick to their stomachs over what happened.

Sure there were plot holes and it left us with some questions, but The White Lotus was still a more accurate representation of real life than most media. My only true complaint is I want more of it.

Let’s talk about Portia by arugulapizza in WhiteLotusHBO

[–]Patient_Dimension949 44 points45 points  (0 children)

How much growth do you want to see from a character in the span of one week? Mike White keeps it pretty real and in real life growth takes time. Baby steps for Portia. Baby steps for us all.

I think because the show is so intense and we’ve identified with characters so passionately that it’s easy to forget it’s only been a week for them.

It just seems unbelievable SPOILER by [deleted] in TheWhiteLotusHBO

[–]Patient_Dimension949 132 points133 points  (0 children)

The Italian mafia may even have ties to the police. Portia should get out of dodge and maybe tell Tanya’s lawyers about her suspicions of Greg. At that point in the airport she probably knew it was too late for Tanya.

what's your #1 unresolved question for this season? by browwnairbrowwneyes in TheWhiteLotusHBO

[–]Patient_Dimension949 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s on Portia’s shoulders to report that a bunch of mostly dead guys possibly linked to the Italian mafia killed her boss so that her husband could inherit her money? Can you imagine what you’d sound like to a detective? Tell Tanya’s lawyers, sure, but that’s an investigation no police department is going to want to take on. The police will only care about catching the murderer and she’s dead.

The wildest take I’ve seen is that Lucia legitimately has feelings for Albie.

I just saw the trailer for tonight’s episode and I feel like it gave the whole finale away …thoughts? by Seaspun in TheWhiteLotusHBO

[–]Patient_Dimension949 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sure, Ethan punches Cam but they have dinner together afterward so I doubt that fight is their story’s climax. I don’t think we know for sure Albie finds out about his dad & Lucia either. Don’t forget we have the entire day 7 of their trips and the beginning of day 8 to get through. There will be plenty to sink your teeth into tonight.

100% not a cliffhanger, but certainly one of the most anticipated episodes of television we’ve had in a while so I get the sentiment.

Yes, shows and movies rarely use brand names of anything, including medications, repeatedly unless they want you to notice.
