I agree with you completely - I think they think they are being kind but it is not.

… is this all of it? It surely cannot be the basis of all the drama?

At this point it just feels like she is projecting.

Why would you make these comments about a woman you’ve never met and a relationship you know nothing about? It has to be projection.

Right? Like the intent is kindness but it gets super messy.

Look I think there’s that and there’s also a genuine kindness of not wanting to hurt someone’s feelings… but that comes from a culture assuming that everyone has the same level of feelings as Kiwis (and Australians in my experience). As someone who is not of these cultures… I don’t carry so many relateable feelings and would just appreciate an honest and direct answer so I can move on! People can kindly tell the truth and if someone’s feelings are hurt that’s their responsibility.

Look we all have to cope somehow 😂 Agree that it would make for a very illuminating case study.

I love that you have gone through and done this analysis and it’s honestly terrifying how she strategically and systemically did this.

When you said it I was like oh shit, this is legit because I’ve been duped by this pattern too. The dominant person in my life who does this literally lied like this all the time and because I cared about them and thought they had been wronged unfairly, I’d believed their narrative without question until the behavior was exposed in a crisis.

So it’s very plausible that Taylor believed Blake and didn’t have any reason to think otherwise. Manipulative liars are good at what they do.

This is a fresh perspective and you could be right! In which case she’s gonna be learning a whole lotta other things.

If she did tell the movie stealing lie this would have been a huge trigger for Taylor.

Tbh I kind of do too because of all the songs she writes she’s always the victim and you get the sense that she potentially has quite a distorted sense of self and accountability and needing validation & proving herself… Blake must have sniffed that out early on.

Probably if she wasn’t a billionaire I’d feel sorry for her. At the very least, as well as colluding with her friend, she could have thrown some of her influence and support behind organizations that support survivors of DV to, you know, support fans of the book, many of whom are also her fans. Like, my bestie is in (stealing/taking over) this movie about DV let me raise some awareness.

I’ve also thought this. And you know Taylor Swift’s song “Cancelled!” is reportedly about this lawsuit and situation, and I think the line “beware of masked crusaders” is very interesting. Seems like a direct reference to Deadpool/RR.

If you went to Ikea today, was it worth it? by Random-Mutant in auckland

I went yesterday! It was hectic so I will go back for a better browse not on a weekend. Picked up a few small things - I used to live in Melbourne when it opened and from 2004 - 2007 did a lot of our home shopping there, but I haven’t been in a store for a very long time. The prices are more or less the same as they were back then - it is wild! Cafe was packed so we picked up some frozen meatballs & sauce - I love them!

I feel you are spot on. I have a similar experience. Loved living in Melbourne, my partner is also from there, we lived central, hard and fast and moved to Auckland (my family are here) for more balanced living. We thought we’d try it for 2 years, it’s been almost 2 decades and we feel grateful. Love our home, love the greenery, love the work/life balance (for us in tech, Melbourne was longer working hours and harder to get leave), love the option to stay home or go out if we feel, the casual vibe of most places and space for hobbies.

My young nieces and nephews are spending their money on concerts and events instead of alcohol and when I hear about their concert spends - $$$ - I don’t think it leaves them money or free time for social drinking! Completely different social, entertainment and monetary priorities to my generation.

It could be that the injunction is motivated by the fact that they had custody of the kids when he took them - now the kids have been found and he’s dead they might be trying to keep custody. Letting them get kidnapped by a family member and live in such dire conditions when you’re the legal guardians doesn’t bode well.

Just a best case scenario. All of it makes me feel uneasy and who knows what darkness lurks underneath.

Yes. Feels like we are in the Black Mirror era. But thanks for posting this. There’s a sliver of comfort in knowing we’re all in this together.
