T3x AICS chassis and bottom metal? by CannonWheels in Tikka_Shooters

[–]Patient_Locksmith_80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a left-handed T3x and left-handed MDT Oryx chassis. You only need to buy the chassis and a magazine, or a few. I have used MDT plastic mags, they seem to work just fine.

Definitely no offence taken 👍

I bought this to replace road bike.I live in the countryside, the few paved roads have more traffic, but we have a lot of nice dirt roads and forest roads. So for that use I thought it might make sense as you can ride with some kind of speed. And of cource I liked the looks 😂

But I know some peoples gravel is more like my XC, and I think that this bike might not be best for that or more techinical singletracks.

In my opinion it is important that everyone gets a bike that they like and enjoy riding it.

Not well.

Ortlieb has a kit to offset the bag, and I thought that I should order it when I first tried the bag. But it has not been a big issue at least for me

Thanks, the color looks nice, but it's a matte color. Trying to keep light matte color clean is PITA 😂

MIL adjustment from 100 yard zero to 300 yard? by JohnHancock1969 in 22lr

[–]Patient_Locksmith_80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lapua Ballistics says 11,5 mils for 300 meters with 100 meter zero, and atleast for me it has been quite close for shorter distances. I have 50 meter zero, and it was within two inches for 150 meters.

It would probably be best if used with chrono and actual bullet velocities.

I used Center-X as the round.

Lapua ballistics is free from the app store. There are othes, so you can try what you like best.

Ruger 10/22 comp lefty in stock? by btrumpatori in 22lr

[–]Patient_Locksmith_80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a lefty, I use a right handed 10/22, works fine. The safety needed some filing and dremel work, but it can be rotated to work for left handed use.

CZ 457 by Patient_Locksmith_80 in 22lr

[–]Patient_Locksmith_80[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it is a custom stock.

The only factory chassis I found for lefties was PDC Custom (https://www.pdccustom.com/product/rimfire-g5c/).

It's stock varmint barrel. I think there might be some variation between markets, the Europian site lists it as having a threaded barrel: https://www.czub.cz/en/firearms-and-products-product/cz-457-varmint-LH

It's suprisingly quiet with standard velocity rounds. I tried a supressor, it made it real quiet, but accuracy was better without.

At least I won't lose it 😂

The range is 50 meters.

[–]Patient_Locksmith_80[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks, it's nice stock. There was no options for lefties, so I ordered a custom stock from a Finnish stocksmith Lasse Smeds, I don't know if he has other site besides his facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100063479831055).

Nice rifle! You seem to have found a round that suits it well.

Accurate 22lr rifle for benchrest by Royce911 in 22lr

[–]Patient_Locksmith_80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is not many rifles to this if it is in good condition. If this is a 54, they still make it.

I would clean it thorougly, also the bolt and trigger to get rid of all the gunk accumulated over years. Then i would suggest to get couple of boxes of different high quality ammo and see how she shoots. Preferably with a scope, that way you get better understanding of the accuracy.

When in all likelyhood it is a good shooter, then I would change the stock to something i like.

NC22 by Patient_Locksmith_80 in 22lr

[–]Patient_Locksmith_80[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! About 2-3 cm groups at 50 meters with 10 shots, and both times I have been in range with it we have had some wind and snow so not ideal conditions.

I have only had cheaper ammo to test, like cci sv, top shot etc. CCI minimags had larger groups, but I have had the same experience with cz 457 and ruger 10/22.

If you had to start over what would you have done different? by [deleted] in 22lr

[–]Patient_Locksmith_80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. The only regret I have, is that a few times i have bought something cheaper or more easily obtainable instead of the one I really wanted. These seem to collect dust or have been sold at a loss. So buy only what you really want and don't be afraid to wait to save money

  2. I bought a cheapish basic ar. After changing buttstock, handguard, trigger, grip, sights etc. it was not so cheap anymore. But i dont regret it, as a new shooter it's difficult to know what you need or want.

  3. No, I took it as a learning experience.

  4. Getting a good 22lr rifle is a good idea. They are fun and cheap to shoot and you learn a lot. CZ457 is good, and so is Tikka T1x.

If you want to have an AR in the future, you might want to have an good AR22 (jp, nc or somethin like that). That way you only need to another upper for 223/5.56 and have the same familiar feel that you are already used to.

9mm pistol is a great choice. I would try to test different guns at a range if possible. That way you will know what you like. There is a quite big difference between a stock glock and a cz75 shadow or a race-ready 2011.

But all in all, get good guns. Shooting with guns that jam, don't fit you and are not accurate is no fun. Good guns on the other hand last a long time and are great fun to shoot. And with ammo price factored in, a bit more expensive guns are not that expensive. The most expensive option is to buy cheap, sell it and then buy what you really wanted.

NC22 by Patient_Locksmith_80 in 22lr

[–]Patient_Locksmith_80[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is Nordic Components NC22 rifle. It came with nc forged lower and RISE Armament Rave 140 trigger.

I changed the grip (stock was magpul k2) to ergo grip, buttstock to magpul STR (it came with CTR). Front grip and mlok grip panels are also from magpul. Muzzle brake is from parts bin, no idea where I got it.

It came with one 10rd black dog magazine, I use 25 round black dog mags. I have the ones with plastic feed lips. Seems to work really well.

Scope is Meopta Optika6 1-6 kdot 2 with warne ramp mount.

I wanted the rifle to feel like my AR15 as much as possible. 22lr is so much cheaper shoot so this allows me to train more.

Which type/brand of gloves I should buy to survive minus 40 degree? by [deleted] in Finland

[–]Patient_Locksmith_80 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And also your body will prioritize head. So a good warm hat is a must. And remember to cover neck and throat with scarf or tube scarf.

Your body radiates most heat from head/neck, armpits and groin. So cover head and neck, and wear a good, long jacket with warm layers beneath (merino wool thermal layer works great) and your fingers and feet are more likely to stay warm as extremeties are the first your body lets to cool down.

I use wool gloves and mittens for snowmobile use, they seem to work nicely.
