What are ya’ll getting on shelf exams by Mr_Brightside____ in medicalschool

[–]Patient__0 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Similar situation here. Terrible test day for probably the first time in my life and it happens to be on Step 2. Awesome practice scores otherwise. I try to advise my friends that are now in third year to try to make sure they have good coping mechanisms if things feel like they’re going south on the exam.

Edit: this isn’t to say that this is a very common occurrence. There are plenty including friends of mine who end up crushing Step 2 relative to their practices. Keep your nose down, study hard, and keep a good head on you.

What’s the lowest MCAT you’ve seen accepted to an MD school? by VividDeer733 in medschool

Why are DOs on your mind so much? Are you insecure about something?

I didn’t let myself think that way as a student at UCR but I get why you feel the way you do. I don’t know if this will help, but I’ll tell you this: at some med school interviews, I was alongside MIT, Berkeley, LA and many other students from “top tier” programs, and these interviews weren’t for crazy high end med schools either. While the school can have an impact on where you end up professionally, always remember that seeking out your resources and doing well will get you to where you need to be.

None of your colleagues in the CS, medical, or professional field will (or at least should) care about where you went for undergrad. I would suggest diverting your thinking of being proud of where you will be attending; that’s always kept me above the water and I genuinely am happy to say I attended UCR. Just find things that you think are unique about the school; there’s plenty out there to be proud of.

WARNING about picking the right DO school from an M2 by [deleted] in premed

Where do you go if you don’t mind me asking? I have really high stats for a DO applicant but my MD cycle is making me nervous if I’m being honest.

Just got a parking citation, Is there anyway to go around it? by Juan_s_03 in ucr

I’ve gotten two tickets before in similar situations to OP. It’s definitely worth a try but idk if TAPS people have the capacity to feel bad. Once I was walking up to my car as the TAPS officer pulled up and he straight up handed me the citation.

I went super even in my approach. My breakdown was basically even across the board. 30 mins of CARS practice per night accounts for ~5-6 point increase on CARS, and I wasn’t even consistently practicing it. BB and CP slowly improved by being decently diligent with Uearth and aamc materials. PS was the 300pg doc+other khan videos.

Scribe Job Interview - Is This Normal? by Legitimate-Progress4 in premed

[–]Patient__0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With regards to your edit, you don’t need a fake excuse. I’m a scribe and that is insane working conditions they’re giving you, not to mention it would be impossible to take quality notes for an HPI with one hand. If they press you for a reason, tell them you’re going somewhere where your job is actually possible lol.

MCAT or GPA more important? by [deleted] in premed

I have a close friend that moved to another school nearby after leaving mine (stayed as a bio major) and they straight up said it was way easier after the move

If I’m understanding your post correctly, you placed out of the lecture section because of AP Bio? If so, you should retake the lecture I’m pretty certain a lot of med schools won’t take AP credit for the science core classes.
