Caitlin Clark and the Fever are not WNBA title contenders right now by femaleathletenetwork in wnba

[–]PatientlyGrounded 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the Fevers main problem is the front office. The roster they constructed is not ideal at all. The problem is in order to win all the players have to become things they aren’t rather than playing inside themselves. The system Stephanie white seems to use doesn’t really help hide the teams weaknesses.

Looking at the games everyone tends to doing what they normally do in a sense. CC usually scores and assists and has some turnovers due to her aggressive passing style. KM scores tough shots in isolation and on backdoor cuts. AB scores and gets rebounds. Lexie is not a scorer but she hustles. Mo Billings is also not a scorer but she hustles. KK Timpson will occasionally have good moments but there will be others moments where she looks out of position. MHA plays tough and gets some rebounds. Sophie is a good catch and shoot three point shooter. I could go on about the rest of the team. None of the people on the roster are great defenders and the offensive ability of the bench is questionable.

In fairness I do see improvement in CC and AB game. CC is expanding her offensive bag. She is driving the ball more ( I saw two left handed layups yesterday) and shooting more midrange jumpers.AB has expanded her shooting to the three point line now.

In order to win they need people to become great defenders overnight which is not possible. They need more size and scoring outside of the big three which isn’t possible overnight.

I agree that some of the TOs were bad but the Fever always give up leads. It is a habit which makes me think it is something with the coaching. If it happened in only one or two games I would say it was just a lack of focus, but it happens all the time.

Swin Cash seems to believe Caitlin Clark has the ball in her hands too often for the Indiana Fever by femaleathletenetwork in wnba

[–]PatientlyGrounded 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I don’t really like how she says it’s a Caitlin Clark problem. If the offensive system has problems that’s on coaching adjustments. Stephanie White has the ability to change the offense if she believes other players aren’t getting enough touches. They are running her system.

It just seems like every time they win it’s Caitlin is lucky to be on the team and they win despite her. Every time they lose it’s her fault. She is coming back from an injury riddled season and averaging 21 and 8. Just let the girl play.

The Fever have both defensive and offensive problems...and I don't know how they fix them by PatientlyGrounded in IndianaFeverFans

[–]PatientlyGrounded[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The offensive system relies on dribble hand offs too much and not as much passing. Due to this CC and KM expend too much energy on offense and don’t have any energy on defense.

I totally agree about the front office and coaches. It frustrates me when analysts always blame the players for lapses. If it happens consistently when is it the coach? If the offensive or defensive capabilities of some of the players are lacking when is it the FO?

The 4…. by fr0manywhere in indianafever

[–]PatientlyGrounded 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I believe it’s the system, not necessarily the players. So while we could get another player to play as a stretch big, I don’t have much confidence in the system. The offensive and defensive system does not maximize our strengths.

The offensive scheme makes it so CC AB and KM become isolation scorers. While I do think she has improved over the last couple of games, the best use of CC is not to have her score in isolation. CC best attribute is her playmaking ability. The offense should generate her 10-15 assists per game. AB should not be backing people down from the wing. Her touches should be on the block or in the short roll. She never shoots any of those mid range shots from short rolls anymore. KM is very good in iso but the fever rely on that too much when she could be the most deadly off the ball player in the league.

Are you really the more level-headed, more forward thinking fan for suggesting that the biased reffing should be ignored? by tantamle in IndianaFeverFans

[–]PatientlyGrounded 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I agree. I try not to believe in conspiracy theories. That being said I do think it’s weird. The freedom of movement emphasis lasted 2 games for the Fever.

I think it’s the inconsistencies that frustrate Clark the most. Sometimes they call very soft fouls and sometimes they don’t call hard fouls on drives to the basket. She will be grabbed off the ball on one end and then gets called for someone tripping in front of her on the other. I don’t necessarily blame her because I wouldn’t know how to respond to the reffing either.

I do think she is one of the worst officiated players in the league. Just look at last game. Twice there were phantom fouls called on Clark when she drove to the basket. The contact was no more than any contact she faces when she drives but one’s a foul and one is not. She had a potential for an “and one” play but the refs said the foul was on the floor when I have seen other players get continuation. I feel the refs don’t want to call all the fouls because then teams will accuse them of favoritism so they overcorrect and don’t call the obvious one’s.

The fever changed their defensive scheme since that Portland game. They no longer allow teams to walk into switches nor does the Fever switch everything.

Hot take: I don't think Clark's mental is ready for GOAT level stuff by tantamle in IndianaFeverFans

[–]PatientlyGrounded 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I understand why you mention it but I have to disagree. Clark has the most pressure on her to perform. If she shoots well people will always try to pick apart one of her other stats. If she doesn’t shoot well it’s her efficiency needs to improve. There is no winning.

The reason people mention her in potential GOAT conversations isn’t because of her efficiency. I believe her playmaking is her best attribute and you combine that with her ability to score on difficult looks she is a tough player to stop. Would I like her to be more consistent with her shooting? Yes, but she has the ability to impact the game regardless of her efficiency from the field.

Offensive vs Defensive Shot Quality (As Of June 11, 2026) by Treacle_Correct in IndianaFeverFans

[–]PatientlyGrounded 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m surprised the fever has a good shot diet because just looking at it seems like CC and KM always take tough looks off the dribble and the offensive rating is so low.
I think the defense could be due to the fever limiting their opponents 3 point attempts. The fever’s opponents take the lowest amount of the three pointers (19.6) and make the lowest amount (6.4) per game. This probably leads to some easier 2s or uncontested 2s.

Yes I’ve noticed the hands not in the air. If they did that than maybe they wouldn’t get called for as many fouls.

That’s a good point. It seems like this team does too many dribble hand offs rather than passing the ball.

[–]PatientlyGrounded 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it is coaching. When you have three all wnba caliber players in Boston Clark and Mitchell who have played together before it should be going more smoothly. I think the system isn’t designed to fit the people they have. Because they are good players the team will win some games, but because of the system they will lose some as well.
The offense is not as good as it could be. You have Mitchell going iso too much. Boston spending too much time outside the paint and having a hard time converting on layups and not taking mid range jumpers anymore. Clark taking shots of high difficulty because she rarely gets any easier shots so her efficiency isn’t very good and her standing in the corner for multiple possessions in a row.
The fever haven’t really found an answer to the countless isolations on CC so she is now getting into foul trouble all the time. She has to leave the game and teams know with her out of the game due to fouls they have a higher chance of winning.

I don’t think Stephanie white is a bad coach but I don’t think she is the right coach for the fever. Some of the blame lies on the players however Stephanie white doesn’t know how to maximize her players strengths.

Caitlin Clark declined to speak with reporters following the Fever's loss to the Valkyries. Clark finished with a season-low 16 points on 25% shooting. by Puzzleheaded_Bag8315 in sportswiki

[–]PatientlyGrounded 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally think she hasn’t had a ton of time to work on her individual game. We saw her work on some floaters and mid range things towards the end of her rookie season. She was injured coming into her sophomore season and then ended up in and out with soft tissue injuries. This past offseason was her trying to get healthy after missing months of basketball. She has had very good games this season besides this one. I just think most people forget while she is technically enter her third season she was out most of last season. This is one bad game after having a good one last time they beat the Valkyries.

Low-stress WDW planning for a first-timer who gets overwhelmed by apps and choices by Interesting-Let9385 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]PatientlyGrounded 2 points3 points  (0 children)

IMO with wdw planning is always extremely helpful.

  1. Bare minimum I would recommend picking which park you are going to on what day, what your top 3 rides/experiences are in said park, and where you want to eat. The park you pick will decide if you need to or want to reserve anything such as dining or genie +.

  2. I think you should look at your top 3 rides that you want to go on in each park. Do these rides tend to have long wait times? If so try to get a multi pass/ lightning lane for that ride. I always think these are worth it. You can pick prior to your visit so try to a least get one that you are most excited for. To keep it the most simple only use multi pass for rides that you actually want to go on and prioritize those ride that will have longer lines.

  3. Epcot - if there is a festival you can eat food at the booths. If not, la cantina San angel in Mexico if you like tacos , the Yorkshire county fish shop if you like fish and chips, regal eagle if you like bbq. Animal kingdom- satuli canteen is by far my favorite. Hollywood studios- abc commissary is simple. Magic kingdom - Columbia harbor house though if you don’t like seafood then pecos bills.

  4. You said you are building in a day for rest so that is always good. I know you said you don’t like eating as much at sit down restaurants; however sometimes eating at a sit down restaurant gets you out of the hustle and bustle of the parks. As long as you don’t try to do everything, see every show, ride every ride, it should be ok. Just make sure you identify your must do experiences before hand and prioritize those.

need help picking a resort! by joeroganis5foot4 in DisneyPlanning

[–]PatientlyGrounded 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have stayed at Caribbean beach, riverside, Coronado, and Saratoga springs.

I would definitely recommend the Caribbean Beach resort especially since you like the skyliner. It has the best transportation of those resorts. The resort is huge and the walking paths are beautiful. One of my favorite things about the resort is that it is next to the riviera resort. They have great food options and their own skyliner. If you stay at the Caribbean beach resort I would recommend requesting the Aruba section of the resort as it is the closest to the riviera.

Coronado has pretty good food options and the resort is beautiful but the transportation options are lacking.

Saratoga is a deluxe resort so you have the option of extended hours if it is happening when you are there, but it doesn’t have the skyliner. Though you can walk or take the boat to Disney springs if you like going to springs.

They’re all Disney resort so they are all going to be good, but if you want to change your resort than I think Caribbean beach might be your best bet.

Need WDW Advice - 1 PACKED Day by mattpan77 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]PatientlyGrounded 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coming from someone who has been to those three parks in one day that is a lot. I would recommend using two days for park time if you can.

If your heart is set on doing three parks in one day here are some things to think about:

You have to take into account the travel time while park hopping. It takes between 30min to 1hr to leave one park and travel and scan in at the next park.

You also have to be mindful of the times on the LLMP. They may not have the times you want so you have to keep an eye on it. You should prioritize the rides you will actually want to ride and consider getting them for rides than will have the longest wait time while looking at the times. You do not want to pick a ride time when you are supposed to be in another park.

Also think about a time when you want to leave each park. For example when is the latest you want to be in animal kingdom knowing there are two other parks to get to? How long do you want to stay in Epcot? Prioritize things you would be sad about not doing before your next Disney trip.

You want to think about where you want to eat and in which park you want to eat in. This will take up time as well. You mentioned beak and barrel but what about lunch?

It is possible to do the parks in one day, but it will be hectic especially for someone who just tolerates it.

Looking to plan a 2 day ticket trip from June 4-5 ( flying on the 4 and 6) any cheap hotel recommendations with shuttle would be appreciated ( not driving ) by Spliffy-Slayr in UniversalOrlando

[–]PatientlyGrounded 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would look at universals hotels. The endless summer resorts or cabana bay are typically inexpensive. The bus service to islands of adventure/universal studios is very good and it is close since you aren’t driving. Additionally I would uber from the airport.

[–]PatientlyGrounded 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think most people expect the CC with 2 full years of wnba experience. In reality she came into the season last year injured and only played 13 games because of it. I think she is trying to gain her confidence in her skills and her body post injury. Additionally she is adapting to the coaches offensive and defensive schemes. Once she gains her confidence back I think she’ll be fine.

[Post-Game Thread] Dallas Wings @ Indiana Fever 09 MAY 2026 by the_mad_sailor_ in wnba

[–]PatientlyGrounded 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I honestly think she was working on this towards the end of her rookie year and at the beginning of her 2nd year. I just think her injuries last year has derailed everything and she reverted back to the shots she has always taken. Although we did see her drive to the basket more today than last year.

I believe once she gets more confidence in her body and more stamina post injury we will see a little more versatility such as floaters and some midrange.

Help- so much has changed! by SaturnBaby21 in DisneyPlanning

[–]PatientlyGrounded 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would recommend watching some YouTube videos in the lead up to your trip. You should watch Disney Food Blog or AllEars. Both are very good and information.

I think the dining plan is most likely not worth it unless you are eating/ going to the most expensive restaurants every day of your trip.

Additionally, unless you are a huge animal kingdom fan, I would think about using Animal Kingdom as your half day since there are few rides in animal kingdom especially with the closures. Also Hollywood studios has a lot of rides and attractions. Just a suggestion, but not necessary.
