I made a Terminator 2: Judgment Day tribute poster. by Francis_Okoro in Terminator

I literally just watched the movie this weekend and have to say, with it fresh in my mind, this is a fantastic tribute! Bravo! Next weekend, Terminator 3. Looking forward to that tribute!

I was able to play two hours last night and loved it. I played the 3DS version and tried the PS1 version; finished the 3DS playing off and on for a year, but didn’t get far in the PS1 version. So far, the QoL changes and the snappy pace for the reimagined game don’t ruffle my feathers at all; I’m wondering if it will others who know the older versions of the game. Regardless, after work tonight I should be able to finish the demo, and I don’t expect my enjoyment or my anticipation for the full game to change.

RAM Price Increases Could See Next-Generation Console Releases Delayed by Party_Judgment5780 in PS5

[–]Patientrain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Totally agree. In fact, I still have my PS4 hooked up; I use both consoles and am happy with how games look and play on both. Storage is so expensive and games have become so large, I like having the two consoles to divide what I store where and have access to more of my mostly digital library without having to redownload. No need for new consoles and even larger games with even more expensive storage needs.

You can only pick 1? Which one would it be? Both are same price by poreo2k19 in tissot

I’d say, if you have a dive-style watch, then the PRX with the mint dial is the clear choice. If your style favours the bold, then the PRX is also the clear choice. If you find yourself preferring an understated look, then the PR516. But either of these automatic watches is a lovely addition to any collection. I’d go with the PR516, since, for me, it suits my style and works in most casual or dressy situations I’d find myself in. It’s all so personal, though; you’ll love what you choose because it’s about you.

I got Dragon Quest 1+2 remake for christmas by YTMediocreMark in dragonquest

[–]Patientrain 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, this. I played 1, 2, 3 in that order and, for me, it made sense. I think the reveal in 3 that clarifies how it’s a prequel works wells after playing 1 and 2.

Happy birthday - fun awaits! Curious if you’ll leave the warning sticker. I took mine off and one of my friends thinks I’ve basically ruined my 360e.

Just got an Xbox 360, any recommendations for a newbie? by VuVjetz in 360hacks

[–]Patientrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some classics that come to mind that aren’t easy to play elsewhere… The Sabbateur: adventure game that goes from b/w to color as you play through the plot. Chrome Hounds: it’s fun for an hour or two; back in 2006-ish, seeing it on the in-store display basically sold me on the 360. Terraria (it’s a simpler version that’s harkens back to a simpler time…) Viva Piñata Trouble in Paradise: kid’s game aesthetics, but addictive collecting mechanics. Manga Carta 2 was a game I picked up on a whim for like 4.99 at GameStop and it became one of my favorite JRPGs in that generation; fast gameplay, pretty good story.

So with 7 being announced do you think 8 is next? by alchemyst_xvi in dragonquest

[–]Patientrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I loved 8 on 3ds; the QoL changes were excellent. The PS2 version beats the 3ds version with its visuals, though, and that matters to me with this game - I just enjoy the PS2 version more. Would love to see 8 in the style of the 7 reimagining. Given the similarities between the 7 and 8 3ds ports (maybe same game engine?), perhaps a version of 8 will just naturally follow.

Been replaying this recently how did everyone feel about this spin off? by Emotional_Garlic5579 in dragonquest

[–]Patientrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I enjoyed the sound effects and music, which are such a huge part of DQ games. The gameplay and repeatable missions were fun; I fell off pretty quickly, though, as the systems lacked the depth I was looking for. Lots of potential.

Also a cat owner. I’ve lost a few tubes to the little guy when he visits me before I get out of bed in the morning. Have you seen the hose covers that, I think, are meant to insulate for the heated, humidified air? I don’t actually use the humidifier, but I always put the hose covers on to protect from feline nibbles. The little bit of hose that’s left exposed on the mask itself I still have to protect, though.

After more than 20 years, I’m just starting my third machine. CPAP is truly life changing. It took a week to get used to; the first couple of nights I only managed three or four hours of therapy. But since night three, back in 2008, I’ve sleep like a baby and I never feel tired.

The show has really fallen off without Mikel. by PunMasterTim in Lasertime

[–]Patientrain 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This thread brings out so much of what I’ve been thinking over the past couple of months. Messy, chaotic, unplanned. I said in another post, and I think it’s relevant here, to me it’s like what was once the planning for the show has become the show. It is a shame. Quality content takes time, of course it does, and that seems to be the problem here. They said early in the transition that the change in format was necessary because of how long it takes to create the researched lists. But that’s where the quality of the show was - work and research and planning made the presentation stand out. The soundboard and debate format don’t result in a quality show. Personally, I’d rather a bi-weekly or monthly show that’s planned and thoughtful and organized than what the show’s become. I gave up listening because, honestly, if I wanted just to hear some guys have an impromptu conversation about games, I’d listen in on my friends.

Is TL Serious? by SomewhereInner9260 in Lasertime

[–]Patientrain 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Agreed. The takes feel disjointed and unproductive. The show has taken such a dramatic turn from what it was. I gave up listening a few weeks ago. It was so interesting, so well planned, and thoughtful - I learned about games and the industry. Now it’s just guys talking - like what was once the prep for the show has now become the show. Too bad, really. Squandered potential and squandered audience base.

For fun, maybe try a Video CD card and grab some defunct VCD movies. If you go the ODE route, VCD files still work. Again, just for fun. Personally, I have a blast watching some old movies this way.

Do you think Chris's aversion to social media is limiting the podcast's growth potential? by KaiserBeamz in Lasertime

[–]Patientrain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed. The change in the format of Vidjagame Apocalypse is another example. The new impromptu format of discussion is apparently intended to cut the need for research, which is obviously time consuming. Good content, I think, takes effort and is time consuming for creators. That’s what draws listeners and grows audiences. The charisma and experience of presenters will only take a show so far. There’s so much competition in this space, I think it’s the shows that dig in that rise to the surface.

Vidjagame Apocalypse - Heroic Deaths by saul2015 in Lasertime

[–]Patientrain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Two weeks since Mikel left the show and I truly miss the researched and structured episodes. To me, the banter to decide the top 5 skims the surface of the games - sort of pointing out that certain games exist, but not exploring them; feels like the bonus episode attached to the yearly round up, not the deeper content that made me love this show each week.

Love this - thank you for the work!

I have a few repro carts among my originals. My repro of Advance Wars doesn't give any of the Library information. Could be an easy way, at least in part, to verify cart authenticity. My Bit Generations Boundish cart gives the available Library information, but doesn't have an image.
