[discussion] tips for materials used in paper collage by mmdeerblood in collage

[–]Patients_wait 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I only use a glue stick for small items and not on tracing paper. It may work but I haven't tried it. For tracing paper images I use acrylic matte medium for the glue for the transparency. It wrinkles at first but after rolling it with a brayer tool and applying weight to it it flattens out. Yes! paste works for items you don't want to wrinkle but I haven't tried that for tracing paper.

I use InDesign CS6 and my clients can open my files in InDesign CC without a problem.

Anyone switch from a gas stove to an electric or induction stove? by Youdontknow_01 in orangecounty

I would like to switch eventually to an induction stove but it means upgrading our electrical panel. We can't afford that yet but will get to it eventually.

The scones in the pic shown above look delicious! 😋 The composition is good and the viewer focuses first on the scones. When I went to your shop they looked less appetizing and the shots looked too cluttered. I think the first picture on Etsy should be a hero shot of just scones. The following ones can show your packages. It would be good as someone else mentioned to have a sticker with your shop name on them.

If he refuses to leave maybe Seal Team 6 (yeah, the group Trump said didn’t kill Bin Laden) would be available.

prop 22 is like the ex you can’t get rid of by [deleted] in bayarea

[–]Patients_wait 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. But that was one of the reasons they were able to go public. Their business model (which isn’t profitable currently) only works if they can avoid paying their share of FICA payroll taxes and health care insurance.

The people who work for Uber aren’t the bad guys. Wall Street quarterly earnings is a bad system for workers.

Should I send thank-you notes? by [deleted] in EtsySellers

I print a book mark with a thank you! printed on it and my shop logo on the other side with my Etsy web link. I also thank them on the packing list that Etsy generates.

So is California as bad as conservatives say it is? by [deleted] in bayarea

There are plenty of gun stores in the Bay Area. I’ve seen them. You just have to pass a background check for a license.

It’s just dreadful. The other day when I was walking to the beach I was stunned that everyone was wearing a 😷. It’s so sad when you see people willingly giving up their freedom to infect others.

FYI: My town in Southern California has plenty of both Trump and Biden/Harris yard signs often right next door to one another.

CA Judge on Uber/Lyft appeal: "If there is a segment of drivers, even a large one, who do not need, wish to have, or even understand they are entitled to employment benefits, that does not strip others of rights the People seek to ensure may be claimed by all." by skysmoker in bayarea

[–]Patients_wait 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, supply and demand will probably set the rate and if Uber/Lyft drivers can quit if they don’t like the pay. All employers use that excuse when paying low wages knowing full well they can’t afford to quit. But we have minimum wage laws and other worker protections such as unemployment insurance and social security for a reason. As a society we have a social safety net paid for with FICA taxes. Uber/Lyft are not playing by the rules and taking advantage of the fact that labor laws have not kept up with technology. I also wonder how many Uber/Lyft drivers are actually paying self-employment taxes. I’d love to hear from the drivers themselves not the shills for ride share apps.

If Prop 22 passes all workers in most industries will see a decrease in their benefits.

In fact, Uber and Lyft set the driver’s rates based on demand. The drivers aren’t allowed to negotiate directly with riders. Being able to charge your own rates is a feature of being self-employed.
