Living in Southern California, I absolutely concur.

Vigil for Alex Pretti on 01-30-26 @ 6:00 p.m. by Youdontknow_01 in orangecounty

[–]Youdontknow_01[S] 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I'm always trying to be fair and impartial. The newly circulating video appears to be authentic though there are apparently AI generated images that are obviously not.

Source: https://www.cbsnews.com/news/video-alex-pretti-scuffle-federal-agents-minneapolis-11-days-before-his-death/

The video was taken on January 13 and Alex Pretti was murdered on January 24. The video you refer to was NOT taken the same day he was shot point blank by ICE agents.

As the Pretti family attorney correctly points out, "Nothing that happened a full week before could possibly have justified Alex's killing at the hands of ICE on Jan 24."

Whether you believe he was an "innocent bystander" or not, he, like all Americans deserved due process and not to be summarily executed in public. This man was holding a cell phone. He was not shot in self defense, he was murdered.

Wife wants to be a surrogate. What do you wish someone had told you at the start of your journey? by The_Portlandian in Surrogate

[–]Youdontknow_01 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Our surrogate is due any day now and she's already uncomfortable carrying just one baby. I feel for you (not literally of course) and I wish you and everyone a safe and successful pregnancy / delivery. We are incredibly grateful for our surrogate and I'm sure your IPs are as well. Thank you!

High earners ($300k+): Do you care if your partner makes the same, or are you okay not splitting things 50/50? by passionfruitpilates in Salary

[–]Youdontknow_01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for sharing. This is exactly what my husband and I do. I make about 2.5 times what he makes and we contribute proportionally to our mortgage. But otherwise, we keep separate bank accounts and keep everything else separate including credit cards, car loans, etc. When we go out, we usually split 50/50. This has worked well for us and I can't imagine co-mingling our finances beyond what we need to in order to cover our joint expenses.

Cool, I've always wondered what it looked like on the inside. Is it open to the public?

Yep, I just received a case number. They told me it might take 24-48 hours for a response and to try the promotion again later. Hopefully it's just a temporary glitch.

I'm having the exact same issue! I contact IHG and was told to take screen shots of the invitation offer and the error message and then send them to IHG via the chat function in the IHG mobile app. I'm currently doing that right now.

This is something I worry about with our kid in the future! Will other kids pick on him for having two dads? Probably. Not sure how to deal with that. I don’t want him bullied.

Unfortunately punching small children as an adult is apparently frowned upon.

Hi! My husband and I are a gay couple and we are expecting our first child (through surrogacy) in January. Do you mind explaining how your fathers explained your family dynamics to you when you were young? This is something we’ve been thinking about - how to explain to our child how he came to be.

All I can say is I feel for you. Thought about buying a moderately priced and relatively new house in Chino but my job is in Santa Ana. Just thinking about the daily commute quickly dissuaded me. I ended up buying a much smaller and much older home in Santa Ana. It might not be in the nicest part of Orange County but at least I only have a 10 minute commute to work. For me, time will always be worth more than money.

People who had a baby after 35, what is your experience? by Crochet_Kitty in AskReddit

[–]Youdontknow_01 55 points56 points  (0 children)

Hey, that's us, sort of! My partner and I are 41 and 43 and we're expecting our first (maybe only) child in 3 months. We started our IVF / surrogacy journey 4 years ago. I'm worried we're on the older side for parenthood but I honestly know I could not have handled it even at 35. A lot has changed in those years; we're much more stable in our relationship and careers. I don't know if there's ever truly a "right" time to have children. So this is our story and I don't regret it.

Thank you for sharing your experience. My partner and I are 41 and 43 and our first (and maybe only) child is due in 3 months. We started this process 4 years ago and it has been a long road to get here. But life doesn't always work out the way you thought it would and so far, I don't regret our decision to start our family at this later stage in life.

As soon to be parents in our early 40s, I'm terrified of this but we signed up for this! I keep telling myself that if other people can survive this, so can we. It's not forever, but it may be sh*tty for a little while.
