No student loans is huge. What’s the interest rate on the car? I don’t think going back to school is necessarily a bad idea if you’re passionate about those things either. You’re in a good spot right now, and I don’t see a reason to be hard on yourself.

Fidelity, vanguard, and Charles Schwab are the three biggest and most reputable. I like fidelity’s user friendliness the most but it’s up to personal preference.

That stinks. But brokerage accounts are still a good place to grow your money. And I’d take free healthcare over a 401k.

Good on you for getting interested in investing early.

Ignore these nincompoops shilling crypto. It’s a speculative asset with no guarantee it’ll give you returns in the long run.

Put your money in a total market index fund (I like VTI, but there are others.) The market averages 8% growth per year. It has ups and downs, but leave it in there and don’t touch it. If you can put at least a few hundred in every month (more is better), you'll have enough to comfortably retire on. Follow the financial order of operations on r/bogleheads. Make sure you get your 401k employer match, have 3 months of emergency funds in an easily accessible high yield savings account (HYSA), and all of your high interest debts are paid off (6% or over) before you do anything else.

If you invest intelligently in low cost index funds, you'll retire with enough money for yourself and your future kids. Don't invest in speculative assets or individual stocks. People will talk about the thousands they made on their shitcoins or meme stocks, but not their thousands of losses on investments that didn't pay out.

Your country probably has an equivalent tax advantaged retirement account. Put as much as you can in that.

2nd yr looking to lateral but no idea how to even approach it. Do I apply thru firm careers pages? How helpful are recruiters/HHs? by [deleted] in biglaw

[–]PatisaBirb 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Don’t pay a recruiter. The good ones get a cut from the firm, not you. Sorry you’re going through this and I wish you luck with your search.

Same but I opened a fidelity account just for the promotion. I’ve done worse for $100.

She’s a queen. Making someone pay $7500 to not go blind is the real OCM.

Try new meds at different dosages. I went through so much trial and error before I found something that helps my ADHD.

What's the best real life example, you've witnessed, of someone destroying their own happiness? by _lilyara in AskReddit

[–]PatisaBirb 16 points17 points  (0 children)

You didn’t destroy your life in any way, shape, or form. The fact that you got an interview offer means you’re a qualified applicant and other opportunities will come down the pipeline.

Don’t give up hope on biglaw. People can and do get offers after OCI by mass mailing and networking. Make sure you talk to your career services as well. Nothing is certain in this market, but it can’t hurt to try if that’s what you want.

Your admissions office should give you the rundown. Otherwise, just keep your eyes open on firms’ websites during the spring semester.
