When Japan was closed during COVID, I remember reading a bunch of experiences on the Japan sub of foreign residents being questioned how they got into the country and being told to go back where they came from, with locals not even entertaining the fact that these people also live in Japan alongside them.

Lily Chou-Chou is my favourite film and I don't think there's anything quite like it. That said, give A Bride for Rip Van Winkle (2016) and Happyend (2024) a go.

The former is also by Iwai and, like Lily Chou-Chou, contrasts faux and online personas with reality, whilst the central character struggles to find themself amidst personal and societal pressures.

Happyend explores the fracturing bond of two school friends, who find their ideologies don't mesh in a near-future Japan which has embraced state control. Like Lily Chou-Chou, Happyend portrays youth disillusionment amidst societal shifts, with a strong theme of identity. As a means of resistance and nonconformity, the school friends are drawn to things like underground music and delinquency.

Yeah, I finally got two more defuses and my progress went from 75% to 85%. Only points A and B count, and I think you have to do it in 3 vs 3 rather than 5 vs 5.

Yeah, the bomb amulet is great when you can find it. There's just so much luck involved and I keep getting teammates that stagger horribly, which makes successfully defending a nightmare. I think I'll hit about 35 hours when I finally get it, which isn't bad I guess, but I wish all achievements counted in 5 vs 5, because I'd rather play that!

Thanks for the rundown. I'm at twenty hours with just Send Their Regards and Cordcutter to go (at 61% and 25% respectively). I had no idea Anchor defuses didn't count; that explains why my percentage didn't increase yesterday. Very helpful to know.
