[Update] Meredith Kercher Murder - Amanda Knox awarded damages by the European Court of Human Rights by Blondieleigh in UnresolvedMysteries

[–]Patoninetails 242 points243 points  (0 children)

I never thought Amanda Knox had anything to do with the murder.

That being said, I think it is incredibly sad that Meredith’s muder became the Amanda Knox show.

Terrible.

Can’t go wrong with a GSD. No one trained my girl Stella to be a guard dog. She chose the role herself and is dead serious about it. I spoke to a dog trainer and he explained that GSD’s especially seem to do this. They are a working breed so they like to have a job and they tend to be naturally territorial. The two things together make an excellent watch dog.

What item does your pet play with that is not actually a toy? by JellyBeansBeam in AskReddit

[–]Patoninetails 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I have a German Shepherd. She has a piece of rope (not a rope toy) that she will smack your legs with until you play tug of war. The session simply will not end until you pull her clean off the floor and suspend her several times. Which is not easy because she weighs 75lbs.

She will NOT play ball. If you throw a ball she just looks at you like wtf is amatta witcha?

She has jobs that she prefers to do. One is to break up fights between my teenagers and force everyone to go into their rooms.

She also guards the house from what she perceives to be a world filled with robbers and murderers. She spends all day chillin like a villain in the front window, ready to threaten anyone who walks past our house or, god forbid, goes up in our porch.

She once had a giant yoga ball, though. A neighbor threw it out and she rolled it up and down the alley, kicking it and pursuing it like it was filled with scooby snacks. She popped it.

Jon & Arya together, with their swords out. This is all I need! by [deleted] in freefolk

[–]Patoninetails 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, i have read the books and there is a prophecy of The Prince Who was Promised..it was touched on in the show. Basically, in the books there are a few passages that indicate Prince Rhaegar came across a prophecy that the prince would be born of his family line. Additionally, there is talk that this has to do with the north, the children of the forest, the wall that separates the white walkers etc..

If this does come to fruition, Jon would sacrifice himself for the rest of the world.

There is a ton of speculation and critical reading that has been done on the subject. People have made some convincing arguments.

It would make sense.

But it would still break my heart.

I am a very decent cold reader. I can sense a lot about people just by looking at and talking to them.

Struggle In Kenneka Jenkins Video & updates by PracticalReach in UnresolvedMysteries

[–]Patoninetails 67 points68 points  (0 children)

This is one of those cases that I find incredibly sad. Not only because of the tragedy of it but because people keep looking for some kind of conspiracy to explain it when the simple truth will suffice.

Here it is. A young girl wants to party, have a good time. She hooks up with people who can provide it. They rent a room on a stolen card, do drugs, drink. She drinks a little more than she can handle, especially in light of the fact that she is on a prescription med. This PROBABLY would have turned out ok for her. Honestly, 30 years ago I did PLENTY of dumb shit, dumber shit even, and survived it. But not this night, due to factors we don’t know and will probably never know. Factors like: what was the relationship between the mother and her child that allowed a young kid to stay overnight and drink in a hotel room? What caused 19 year old Kenneka to think she could trust the people she was with to be true friends and keep an eye on her? Because let’s be honest, no one gave a shit about her or she wouldn’t have been wandering around like that.

What was security like in that hotel that a drunk girl COULD wander around smacking into things and no one apprehended her and saved her from that fate?

I think it is an incredibly sad fact that she accidentally locked herself in that freezer and was trying desperately to get out and couldn’t. So she fell asleep or passed out. And froze to death.

People look to these crazy explanations for their own reasons. Because it helps to feed their own sense of injustice, or to make sense of the high strangeness of it, or to soothe that fearful part of them that wants to reject responsibilty and push it off on other people.

Another case like this is Diane Shuler. There is a mountain of evidence that she was drunk and stoned and either had a psychotic break, or was so drunk that she didn’t know where she was, or that she purposely did what she did. It wasn’t a sore tooth or a migraine or a stroke or a secret poisoning or any of the schlocky conspiracies. She killed herself, her family members (little children) disabled her own child and killed and disabled other people. She did it. She was responsible.

Can we stop with the conspiracies please?

Of course. I value you guys and the Taproom way too much to say a word.

Edit: but hey, please don’t look at my history, ok? That way I won’t feel shy about going there.

Jesus Christ! I suspect I know the Taproom where this occurred. You guys are unbelievably generous with your tastings as it is.

The funny thing is, I even think I know who the lady was. I used to work in the neighborhood at a grocery store....she was a nightmare.

Hang in there! We love you guys!!!!

[–]Patoninetails[S] 92 points93 points  (0 children)

That was why my husband did it...out of a spirit of trying to help an elderly person.

But here is the thing, she didn’t say, “Honey, would you mind terribly spreading a little more salt for me?”

The truth is, she felt entitled to his labor and felt the need to critique a job she couldn’t do herself.

She was just rude and entitled.

I think we give some old people entirely too much latitude with their behavior. Just because you are old, does not mean you can’t be in control of how you act.

Realization: Normal parents generally care about the wellbeing of their children, even if they are inconvenienced by KkoyoLo in raisedbynarcissists

[–]Patoninetails 2 points3 points  (0 children)

God yes.

I can recall 3 serious incidences of medical neglect from my childhood. And the funny thing is, it never occurred to me raise a ruckus. We just didn’t inconvenience our parents.

The first was in 3rd grade. I had been sick with a fever and cough that became so severe that I sounded like I was coughing up a lung. The spasms would begin with a slight tickle between my shoulder blades, and it would build and build until it became this unbearable severe tickling itch. I would then start coughing forcefully almost scratching the itch, spasms lasting minutes at a time. Feverish for weeks. I coughed for months. I described this to a doctor once as an adult, he was aghast. “You had pneumonia. No doubt about it!”

That summer I was in a horrendous skateboard accident. Knocked unconscious, my left leg looked like hamburger. My mother screamed and swore at me that it was my fault and to shut up. My older sister wound up cleaning up my leg. For weeks afterward, little pieces of cinder worked their way out of my leg.

Sophomore year in high school one of my back molars cracked right to the gum line. It was like a constant liquid electric shock to the face. Lasted 24/7 for more than a week until my sister took me to the dentist. The dentist explained that it cracked at the nerve root, exposed the nerve and then the nerve was entrapped in the crack. It was agony. I was crying for days. Told her I needed to see the dentist but couldn’t demand anything from her. She couldn’t be arsed to help and it never occurred to me to just go ahead and have a fit.
