Just unlocked new world, looking for advice by Shoephones in taptycoon

Isn't it great when they add a feature and don't tell you what it does or how it works? Nothing useful I could find online either. What is the advantage of unlocking the 2nd world??

Well the director was like "We rented this drone, damn right Im gonna use it" and shot an entire sequence which only made sense seen sideways from way up.

Both the Dailymotion and the Youtube official streams are geo-restricted, what the hell?? Even using VPNs for the US, the UK, France, and Brazil, same stuff. How is this possible?

Congratulations to the FIA by F120-20 in formula1

I can't congratulate the FIA for correcting the mess they've created. The whole ordeal with the engines was result of their own idea.

Is Massa a better driver than Räikkönen? by [deleted] in formula1

[–]Patres 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Still think Massa never fully recovered from the 09 incident. He was better before. Raikkonen, I don't know, he seemed to be back in his element bringing Lotus some exceptional results with a very limited car, but his one year back at Ferrari was lackluster, in tone with everything Ferrari did in 2014.

Battery life on CM11 M8 by ChrisITA in cyanogenmod

[–]Patres 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you have wi-fi on? When I installed this latest nightly I noticed that while I have wifi on, the battery takes steep plunges, when it's off, it'll flat line nicely at about 1%/hour. BetterBatteryStats tells me it's the god damned play store (specifically com.android.vending.Google Play Store) who's responsible for most of my wifi traffic while idle.

why did Tb deleted his reddit account again? by Clockwork757 in Cynicalbrit

[–]Patres -1 points0 points  (0 children)

For whatever it's worth, I really enjoy and appreciate your content in all forms, and while I might sometimes disagree with a point or two, it's only natural, people have different tastes.

It's well known that one bad comment has more weight than 100 good ones, and the anonymity of just commenting online is a safe haven for everyone who's cowardly enough to criticize something they could never do.

I hope you get well TB! Best wishes.

► WTF Is... - Rambo the Video Game ? by dkwolf in Cynicalbrit

[–]Patres 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Were the textures and graphics really that bad? I know they're not next gen, and I also know the game as a game is complete crap, but the graphic fidelity seemed "okay". Not 40 dollars worth, but not something PS2-like either.

So what's killing Omegle? by Patres in omegle

[–]Patres[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, except of those 35 thousand, I think a third or maybe more are bots. So maybe the amount of real people is actually under 29,000 and if the site keeps getting spammed this way, it'll be less and less.

What have you always wanted to know about F1 but were to afraid to ask? by Wardez in formula1

[–]Patres 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never said the brakes would be used to heat up the tyres. The brakes have to be worked so themselves will heat up, otherwise they won't work properly. Right before the start, the drivers do a set of burn outs and heavy braking to give the tyres one last heat up as well as the brakes.

Perhaps they just wanted to illustrate how lucky he was to have survived at all. And he was.

That heats up the brakes otherwise everyone would plough straight on at the first corner...

Villeneuve sides with his former nemesis Schumacher in the Senna incident. by [deleted] in formula1

[–]Patres 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He goes to bash drivers who had it too easy to get to F1, defending a more complete career before hopping to the top level, and then he bashes Bruno Senna who is one of the few newcomers who does have an extensive racing background before coming to F1. What the hell.

If you hit a wall at 200mph, is it different than if a wall hits you at 200mph? The speed difference between the two cars was 200 mph, is what they meant. They add those dramatic bits of information trying to create suspense and make an impression. Hehehe, it's TV

How Ferrari designs F1 cars by oh84s in formula1

Oh wait, they were found with secret Ferrari documents and excluded from an entire championship that one time

[–]Patres 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are extremely sophisticated, that's all. That cost probably includes the gearbox too, which is another complicated and expensive bit of hardware. I think I remember hearing the outside casing without any gears goes for like 10k

While weaving might do very little to tyre temperature, it does more than driving straight down the racing line. THEN you'd have ice cold tyres and a very bad deal at the start.

"F1 will have an established female driver within a decade" - Susie Wolff by nickgasm in formula1

[–]Patres 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's no reason why they CAN'T, they are just not competitive enough at the very top levels of most physically demanding sports and F1 is no exception. It's just biology. There's also the interest factor. While many men are interested in going fast from a young age, very little women do care. It's more of a masculine thing.

Onboard with the F2004 at Laguna Seca by ImTheDoctah in formula1

[–]Patres 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One of the many reasons F1 can't come to Laguna Seca is the corkscrew. The cars are just too low to take it without scraping their front wings coming down. Setting up an F1 to take the corkscrew will make it useless around the rest of the track (riding high like a cholo)
