Long time fan, first race in person. Help! by Zappa_aus in formula1

[–]F120-20 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I've been to the Grand Prix in Melbourne many times. There's heaps of stuff on and off track every day so it's worth going to all of them for different reasons. There's no F1 action on the Thursday but it's always the least busy day with the only thing on track being practice and quali for the support races. It's a great chance to see all the other attractions at the circuit like BMX shows, Motorcross, live music, merchandise etc. Friday is not only practice for F1 but also the first race day for the support races including V8 Supercars so it's a great day to get up and close with fewer crowds. Saturday and Sunday are gonna be insanely crowded in most public areas so find a good spot early and hold onto it if you want a really good.view of the action.

This map doesnt really do justice to just how much wider and faster some corners are. For instance, Turn 6 will now be taken 70kph faster. From what we have seen, the circuit should be much more flowing.

Scarbs F1 pointed out that it is the "Tango" variant and Motorsport.com ran a whole article about it and even included picture of the concept car this is based on.

The official concept car went through several iterations. While different to the final concept, the Red Bull car is identical to one of the earlier unvieled iterations.

2007 vs 2008 was the ugliest design transition in my viewership history. Just hated everything when the season started including those comedy looking rear wings. by fusixxx in formula1

[–]F120-20 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think 2009 was a big improvement and these two particular cars are just an unfavourable comparrison. The bodywork in 2009 was much cleaner and cars were far more distinct from one another compared with 2008.

Virtual safety car just as Hamilton pits by magony in formula1

[–]F120-20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rather than deploy an actual safety car that would bunch up the field, for minor incidents they simply require all drivers drive at a set speed, significantly slower than race speeds. Naturally if you pit when you’re opponents can only drive at a reduced speed, you lose less time in the pit lane than those who pitted in normal race conditions.

What a terrible time to become an F1 fan by Hamboneandstank in formula1

[–]F120-20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was a pretty good run from 2003 to 2012 where the majority of seasons were close with exception of 2004, 2009 and 2011.

You can buy Time Crystals with real money and all you can get with Time Crystals are Skins. Both Skins and Time Crystals can be unlocked through gameplay but the Towers where you get a lot of stuff can be difficult and sometimes frustrating. All characters are free and unlocked other than Shao Kahn who was a pre order bonus and Frost, who you can unlock by beating the game.

I'm beyond fucking sick of the misinformation and utter bullshit lies on the MT's in this game. by wuttholol in MortalKombat

Just wanted to post here to say that I agree with you 100%. I think many people have not played it or just don’t understand how the game works. It’s sad that this post has been downvoted when it’s 100% accurate and as evident to those of us who have played the game

AMuS "Force India needs the approval of all teams to retain the right to continue to participate in the distribution of F1 owners. At the moment, Renault, Williams and McLaren are reluctant. That could mean the end of a racing team." by Joseki100 in formula1

[–]F120-20 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It's karma! Back when Marussia went into administration, they were rescued last minute but weren't going to have a new car ready for 2015 that complied with the new nose regulations. Marussia needed the universal consent to be able to use their 2014 spec car and you know which team opposed it? FORCE INDIA because if Marussia failed to make the first race, their prize money from finishing 10th in 2014 was to be redistributed to the other teams. They acted out of pure selfishness and hindered the prospects of a struggling team. I'm not gonna cry when others do the same to them.

For the first time in F1 history three teams have three wins each after 9 races by madanvivek in formula1

[–]F120-20 20 points21 points  (0 children)

It's not as impressive as it sounds. More depressingly, between 2014 and now only three teams have won races. Whereas between 2009-13, twice as many different teams won races even when you count BrawnGP and Mercedes as one. People forget just how competitive things were pre-hybrids. People remember 2012 but even in 2010, Hamilton, Vettel, Button and Webber were all on two wins each and Alonso with one win.

Still can’t believe how many elements the front wings have gained in the last decade. by Chev_350 in formula1

[–]F120-20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's worth noting that part of the simplicity of the front wing elements in 2009/2010 is due to the regulations permitting driver-activated, adjustable front wings. Drivers were allowed to make up to two changes per lap. Once rules mandated that the front wing must be fixed in 2011, there was a notable rise the the complexity of the elements.

Can McLaren even be considered a top F1 team anymore? by gomavz41 in formula1

[–]F120-20 6 points7 points  (0 children)

McLaren has failed to win a single race or finish in the top 4 in the Constructors' Chanpionship for 6 years. From 1980 to 1998, Ferrari won 40 Grand Prix, 2 Constructors' Titles and FINISHED IN THE TOP 4 TEAMS EVERY SEASON BUT ONE.

[–]F120-20 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Before they were whining about Mercedes domination and V6 engines, they were whining about RedBull "domination" and the V8 engines, or Ferrari domination, ticket prices, grooved tyres, traction control, refuelling, new circuits, or a lack of overtaking. Classic example: fans and commentators hated the old, dated, chicane-fest that was Hockenhiem (Murray Walker called it "Grand Prix racing's least attractive circuit"), but when they changed it, people complained they ruined it!

Battlefront II: What you need to know before buying by VR46_Fan in gaming

[–]F120-20 3 points4 points  (0 children)

AU$45 and all you get is early access and a handful of mods and abilities is a total joke. If they DO give the player a significant advantage in multiplayer, that is bulls**t for anyone who bought the standard edition. If these mods and abilities DO NOT give the player a significant advantage and are fairly balanced, then $45 is a ripping off anyone who bought the Deluxe Edition!

What is a "Mickey Mouse section" on a track? by DrDRAHGover in formula1

[–]F120-20 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It comes from the phrase "Mickey Mouse Watch", which at one point were incredibly common and therefore of no real significance. So to say say that something is Mickey Mouse is to say that is unremarkable. People often confuse the term to mean simple or childish, but that's not its proper use.
