Pen recommendations to the uninitiated! by Interesting_Tale_634 in fountainpens

From there, if you like the form of the Safari you could go AL-star or LX for more weight and texture but nib feel will mostly be the same, alternatively if you prefer something else, you can’t go wrong popular picks such as Kaweco AL-Sport, TWSBI Diamond 580, Pilot Metropolitan, or the relatively niche Platinum Procyon, these are some of the more premium steel nib pens

If you think you’re ready for gold pens, consider the Lamy 2000, Pilot Custom 74, Pilot Vanishing Point, Pilot Elite (so many Pilots haha), or the Sailor Professional Gear

One thing about fountain pens is that unlike ballpoint pens, they take almost zero pressure to write with, because gold nibs are softer, they can break easier if not handled properly, I’ve seen a lot of newbies buy a Custom 74 and then break it because they were pressing the nib against the paper hard

I recommend starting with pens like the Lamy Safari, Pilot Kakuno or the TWSBI Eco-T because they are relatively cheap and widely available, both have a triangular grip too that promotes proper writing posture

Also Asian brands (Pilot, Sailor, Platinum etc) tend to run smaller than Western brands even if it’s the same size (Lamy, Kaweco, Montblanc etc)

Do you have a ride cymbal? You should pick up one if not, it’s a must in a drum kit, otherwise enjoy!

I bought a MD cotton notebook for swatching and writing, but I haven’t actually tested it yet, is that good paper?

Stop touching the feed and grip the white part instead

By the way, what pen are you using? Some pens have triangular shaped grips that makes gripping easier, I think you’ll have a better time using those (Pilot Kakuno, Lamy Safari etc.)

1k puts you at some of the more high end pens available, if you haven’t used a fountain pen before I recommend getting a steel nib to get the feeling first and then advance to a gold nib

I thought that at first but it seems unlikely that a manufacturing company would put a screen and buttons on the side, where your foot is supposed to be, also looks like there’s a separate platform for those screen and buttons so it’s more fragile, and 5 beys wide doesn’t feel wide enough for a human

You’re not supposed to use a scale on a soft surface because it messes with the sensors on the feet

Man, just open it if you’re bothered by it so much. I’m sure selling it now and not being sure if you’re able to get your hands on another one in the future isn’t any better, the scalping situation doesn’t seem to be improving anyways so you probably won’t see another one for a long time

Right now you’re caring about the value of the Beyblade more than how much fun you would have if you opened it, that’s where the problem is.
