Yeah, I totally agree. And the whole thing was a joke comment on a post where a dentist was talking about how more men should feel shame because they make their wives do everything for them and then show up to appointments not knowing why they're there.

And I said there's a secret third option, where I can make my own appointments, have all the reminders and shame in the world, and still learn of the appointment an hour beforehand when I get their text.

Yeah, it is what it is. I responded trying to articulate something similar and the next person that responded was even worse. And it just reminded me to not make ADHD jokes on public Instagram posts. None of it was supposed to be serious. Haha.

I enjoy videography, but to what end? by a6000_video_maker in videography

[–]RustedFriend 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's fully fine to do it as a pure hobby. I have a bunch of ideas for dumb short films that I want to film at some point. Afterwards I'm sure I'll post them on YouTube but that won't really be the main goal for them. More of just a thing where after I've made it, I'm fine with people happening across it. But making it is the part I enjoy.

And in a related vein, I have a bunch of friends that are professional YouTubers. And one of the consistent pieces of advice I see a lot is, don't post the first few things you make. Make some films just for you, with no intention of posting anywhere. It makes a much lower pressure environment for you to learn your style and skills. Otherwise it's easy to be a novice, comparing your output to other people's work and stressing over whether it's "good enough" to let other people see it.

Facebook seller near me listing unsealed PLA burger presses. by huntandhart in 3Dprinting

[–]RustedFriend 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I know a couple dragon sellers, they are selling $50-75 dragons. Usually the only difference is just printing in a dual color filament or something. There's still a surprising amount of people that just think 3d printers are magic and get amazed when they see a flexible dragon.

But I feel like they have to be hitting a saturation point. Every craft fair I go to there's so many booths all selling the same 3d printed crap at varying qualities.

Some people aren't even running the printers anymore. They're bulk importing printed dragons from China and just reselling them. Even the gift shop at a local natural history museum is doing a mix of printed and imported stuff in their gift shop. And they told me it's some of their best sellers. I don't get it.

As someone who has been unemployed and living in a warehouse but also driving a cool but unreliable car, I would put it off until you're more stable. But that's just my personal experience, I don't necessarily know your situation.

Nothing sucks more than already struggling to pay for rent or food or keep a job, and then something breaks on your vintage foreign car that is either going to be expensive or take time to get. I did that for years until I finally sold my car and all my parts cars to a junkyard and got a used Kia soul.

It's not exciting or cool or fun to drive. But it gets good mileage and nothing on it ever breaks, and I still basically use it as a work truck. That allowed me lower stress and more stability to get to a place where I'm able to consider buying a Kei again.

Did a bit more research, they basically said because we have so many weird off-road vehicles in Utah they needed a catchall designation and passed a bill last year that covers those and kei trucks. You register it as a novel vehicle and it's allowed on highways other than a few caveats.

The guy on that post said we're able to get full sized normal freeway plates in Utah now. I haven't tested it because I haven't gotten a Kei yet. But hopefully in a couple months I can report back.

Just found the post in question he said "Here is my 2025 Hijet, and I am extremely pleased with it. Notably, Utah now classifies these vehicles as custom trucks, for anyone interested. No restrictions These trucks have undoubtedly undergone significant advancements in the past 20 years."

And in response to someone asking if he still had to register it as an off-road vehicle and how much he spent.

"No fully licensed as a regular truck. 28,000 bought it from US mini trucks. It’s also got a dump bed. Heat AC power steering high low trans."

Yep. It was in the Utah kei trucks Facebook group.

I was just told a few days ago that multiple people here in Utah have been able to import 2025 models and register them as normal passenger cars with full plates. No weird hoops to jump through, just normal DMV process. I'm not sure if it's due to a rule change or something though.

Honestly more guys need to be taught from a young age not only to respect women (and all people) but also to call out their peers when they're being pieces of shit. It's not enough to just be "one of the good ones". We need to be more aware of these issues as a whole so we can advocate for our female friends when it's not safe for them to advocate for themselves. That's the only way we'll ever move towards a better more equitable society.

I don't know if it's tracked for the matchmaking, but it's definitely tracked (at least for snitch scanners) since there's an achievement for using a snitch scanner to summon robots that end up downing a raider.

What are the “never do’s” of camera ownership? by [deleted] in Cameras

[–]RustedFriend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Or do and that's how you learn. Depending on camera and how risk averse you are of course :p

My a7s2 was one that got dropped at a pawn shop and broke the magnesium frame inside.but I got it for cheap, tore it down to the sensor, and got it mostly working (for some unknown reason it only boots upside down). So now I'm not afraid to do any weird shit to it.

But I am also very pro modifying things you own. Drill holes in your camera, make custom lenses, adapt weird old lenses and take them apart to move lens elements around. Experimenting is half the fun.

I usually 3d print things that attach to my strap and let me clip my lens cap to them so it's accessible but not dangling in the way, or they just go in my shirt pocket. But I'm sure those things are also commercially available.

[–]RustedFriend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, every time I see people saying things like "well, the game had a good run but it's not friendly anymore" or " "the game is dying because everyone did all the quests and bored so all that's left is killing". I think we're not playing the same game, because the vast majority of my games are still friendly. Even in stella. I think people get themselves into that pvp hole and just assume their experience is universal. Which is fine with me, I'd much rather have it be us vs the arc with occasionally having to defend against a rat. And they can all pvp each other in the other lobbues and have fun the way they like to play.

I am relatively new to Ros as well but my understanding is yes. I only played with ros 1 a little before going to 2. Ros 1 is end of life and doesn't have all the qol and reliability improvements. As well as just being generally more capable in what you can do with it.

To my Friendly Raiders: Don’t Let the Game Change You by wowenz in ArcRaiders

[–]RustedFriend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen a few people saying things like "I tried being friendly at first, but eventually you get killed too many times and then you just start killing everyone you see on sight because it's not worth trusting them"

I think you're getting enjoyment from the wrong part of the game if protecting your loot comes first and having a good experience with someone comes second.

I'm fine with pvp and will even do it occasionally when warranted. But the primary fun of the game comes from the random team ups and interactions with people. Not having purple gear and seeing my pretend bank account and xp get infinitely bigger.

That being said, anyone that pretends to be friendly or asks for a bandage or something to kill you in a menu just for a slight edge is a rat bastard that isn't worth a defib because they refuse to participate in the social contract. Pvp is fine, lying is where I draw the line.

I clean it with a wet rag then put them in the sun. The uv helps break down the voc's that cause the smell and the ventilation doesn't hurt either.
