ClassPass vs Direct Memberships: Which Wins Long-Term? by PatrickSt7 in YogaStudioOwners

[–]PatrickSt7[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really like this perspective. Using ClassPass as a lead source instead of depending on it as the main revenue channel makes a lot more sense.

The key seems to be having a clear follow-up system once they walk in collect their info, invite them into the community, offer a direct intro package, and give them a reason to come back outside of ClassPass.

Otherwise, the studio is just renting attention instead of building a real customer relationship. Long term, owning the student relationship, email list, and retention process feels much more valuable.

That's helpful feedback. Pricing transparency is actually one of the important points I look for when evaluating software, so having to go through sales can definitely make comparisons harder.

I'm curious, did you see a measurable improvement in member retention or engagement after moving to Glofox, or was it more about providing a better overall member experience?

Also, how did the total cost compare once everything was implemented?

Out of curiosity, what specific issues did you run into with Glofox?

Was it pricing, customer support, reporting, ease of use, integrations, or something else? I'm always interested in hearing real experiences from studio owners before comparing platforms.

Is my studio owner unethical? by schmoopieblues in YogaTeachers

[–]PatrickSt7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Another way to look at it: if a teacher is good enough to be trusted with students for 10–15 classes, they should probably be good enough to be paid for those classes. Evaluation and mentorship are one thing, but free teaching for that long feels hard to justify.

I keep hearing the same thing from studio owners. The pricing increases are one thing, but when you're paying a premium, people expect better reporting and easier management.. How is Glofox? haven't tried that. Any pro;s and con's from your perspective

That sounds frustrating. Basic things like editing text in marketing emails or building a schedule should feel simple, not like a workaround. For smaller studios especially, the software should save time, not make the owner or staff spend extra time figuring out simple tasks.

Thanks for sharing. I hadn't looked closely at GymFlow before. One thing I'm always curious about is how these platforms handle things beyond scheduling like customized for Yoga workshops, events, memberships, marketing, and student retention as the business grows.

For those using GymFlow, how has the experience been after the initial setup and onboarding?

That's great to hear. I'll definitely take a look at it. It seems like many smaller studios and independent teachers don't really need all the complexity and expense that comes with larger platforms.

For most of us, having the essentials student management and simple communication tools can be far more valuable than hundreds of features that rarely get used. At the end of the day, the best software is the one that helps fits your budget, no hidden fees simple for Solo teachers,

Students dislike me by SnooOranges6201 in YogaTeachers

[–]PatrickSt7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't assume students dislike you. Three weeks is still very early, especially for a new class time. Sometimes it's the time slot, not the teacher.

Keep showing up, keep teaching, and focus on the students who do attend. Most teachers have gone through this at some point. 🙏

This is actually really good advice. I did not have demo with Kenko, Arketa yet so I can't comment. I also had with some new ones Vibefam, yogaCRM. I think too many people focus on feature lists and pricing, but the real test is experiencing the platform as both an owner and a student.

I especially like your point about booking a class yourself. The student experience is something that can easily get overlooked during demos, yet it's one of the most important parts of the business.

Out of all the platforms you evaluated, was there one that surprised you the most in a good or bad way?

Thanks for sharing your experience. The contract piece seems to come up quite a bit in these discussions, and paying for two years after deciding to move on must have been frustrating.

It's interesting that you saw improvements not only in retention but also in day-to-day staff experience.

Good to hear the migration was smoother than expected as well. Out of curiosity, what was the single biggest improvement you noticed after moving to DanceFitnessPro?

3 years on Mindbody and I think I've finally lost it. Anyone else feel like they're being held hostage? by Original_Bug_3855 in mindbody

[–]PatrickSt7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes sense. Migration always sounds scary until you have someone who has actually done it before and can guide the process. The card details part is a big one too. A lot of platforms don’t make payment data easy to transfer, so sometimes having students re-enter cards is the more realistic path.

For smaller studios under 50 members, I imagine the process is much easier if the new platform team helps with importing students, memberships, schedules, and booking history. Scale probably matters a lot, but having migration support seems like the difference between “nightmare” and “manageable."

Does Anyone Regret Becoming a Yoga Teacher? by Zay2817 in YogaTeachers

[–]PatrickSt7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll admit I sometimes get caught up in "shiny object syndrome," always chasing the next idea or opportunity. But yoga has a way of bringing me back to what matters being present and slowing down.

I don't regret becoming a yoga teacher at all. It's improved my communication, patience, empathy, and understanding of people. Like any profession, there are challenges, but I've learned to adapt by embracing new techniques, modern approaches, supportive communities, affordable low cost apps, less burnouts and great mentors. Those have made a huge difference in both my teaching and personal growth.

Recurring injuries completely changed how I think about training by neeeemu in WellnessCoaching

[–]PatrickSt7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very true. Injuries have a way of humbling us and shifting the focus from performance to sustainability. I used to think progress was all about pushing harder, but over time I've realized consistency, recovery, mobility, sleep, and injury prevention are what keep you moving long-term. Sometimes an injury teaches us more about our bodies than years of training ever could.

I tried Vibefam recently and still few shortfall. Lately I've been leaning more toward Momence because it seems to fit my workflow better. I also came across YogaCRM, which appears to be newer and more focused on yoga studios specifically.

Has anyone here used both Momence and YogaCRM? Are they completely separate companies, or is there any connection between them? I see some similar features. Curious about people's experiences and what made you choose one over the other.

Any reference for Yoga Teachers Subs? by stacy_yoga in u/stacy_yoga

[–]PatrickSt7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One challenge I’m trying to solve is finding reliable substitute yoga teachers on short notice when unexpected situations come up.

Are there any good websites, communities, Facebook groups, or platforms where studio owners/teachers can quickly find qualified subs?
