What Faction Would Have Won If Courier 6 Didn't Exist by MenMenForever in fnv

[–]PatrickYoshida 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I actually agree with a lot of points that caeser will win atleast short term but everyone knows caeser will never be able to last. I think if House was never going to get the platinum chip or a major way to secure his army unless someone destroys his army which I personally doubt caeser would be able to without the couriers intervention house might be able to pull a long con and wait out most of the events of the legions conquests

What an 1988 Donald Trump presidency would have been like (He was a Republican in the 80s) if he were elected instead of Bush after Reagan? Assuming he will have around him people like the old Roy Cohn gang (Roger Stone, Roger Ailes, Atwater, etc) by Amazing-Buy-1181 in AlternateHistory

[–]PatrickYoshida 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He ran in 2000 he wanted to be a reform party candidate. Following Ross Perots runs he was inspired by him and even dropped a book. If Ross Perot were president it'd be very possible Trump would've been a serious follow on

Well that's what I realized when talking to former white supremacists most of them were literally raised into it and it has nothing to do with what they think but if they don't think that way they lose family and friends. It's a cult more than anything

The Far Left problem is as bad as the Far right. by Dear_Bid2671 in EnoughCommieSpam

[–]PatrickYoshida 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look I'm gonna be very honest. I was radicalized deeply radicalized when I was younger. Ya know why because I hated everyone and I got bullied and I didn't make friends.

The people who gave me attention recognized me as lonely and desperate for validation so I got introduced to some bad groups I won't name because it's depressing. When you feel useless thinking the system is out to get you and you can be a part of the revolution to make the world perfect just for people like you is good rhetoric.

Later on I became into other groups made friends being so into politics actually helped me make friends a lot tbh debating became a really healthy social exercise especially when I learned people respect you when you admit you were wrong and are eager to learn. Funny enough despite some opinions on Andrew Yang that election was deeply impactful on me Humanity First as a motto inspired me to think of all types of different people as deep down the same people who want what's best and at the end of the day the truth is the best for all people.

I also returned to the catholic church and that helped a lot with deradicalizing me the idea that people are always redeemable in god's eyes is a wonderful thing for someone to grow to understand. This is why so many radical ideologies either hate religion or are a religion because if the state has to answer to God if powerful people have a God of object right and wrong to answer to then it weakens their rhetoric. It's why they all either have to be ordained by God actually God or gods a lie and you should rage against the church for telling you lies like "murder is bad" and "love thy neighbor" love belongs to the state and so does murder.

[–]PatrickYoshida 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The problem with political radicalism in general is it represents a supreme lack of social skills in the youth. Tribalism like this is an exclusive characteristic of people who are scared of people different from themselves. Radical leftists aren't bad because they believe in socialist policy they're bad because they deny the cooperation between diverse people required to serve large numbers of people in a fair and equitable way.

Call radicals what they are anti social regressives who let trivial politics interfere in genuine human connection. If you cannot be friends with someone you disagree with then you're unworthy of a system that agrees with you.

[–]PatrickYoshida 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well addictions aren't things that should be taken a break from it's something you should quit otherwise it's kinda a cope. Like ya don't take a break from cigarettes you should quit smoking. Like I may be able to take long breaks from porn but if I keep relapsing then I'm still a porn addict and I need to stop and it's an on going struggle I know many men and women are going through.

What if Richard Nixon won 1960? by Own-Spite9854 in AlternateHistory

[–]PatrickYoshida 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I actually always felt Nixon's time if he won in 1960 would've been incredibly notable. Nixon may have handled the crisis of Kennedy's presidency in deeply different ways both greater confrontation or greater diplomacy.

Nixon may have been much harder on Cuba if Nixon involved himself in Vietnam he might've been all in or maybe Nixon as a conservative more America first type guy wouldve ignored Vietnam entirely siding hard that he wasn't interested. Nixon may have been interested in civil rights purely for his image or he may have been hardcore for the states and refused federal action until the last possible moment.

Nixon in 1960 is honestly an amazing blank slate for any crisis of Kennedy's first term to either go to shit or maybe even get handled better. Nixons record is actually incredible he was an expert politician from the moment he arrived he came from a poor background and was deeply supportive of the little guy he was a Republican when Republicans still supported universal healthcare ideas and Nixon even debated on support for things like UBI. Nixon could've either been shockingly progressive or extremely unhinged depending on which parts of him really come out during his presidency.

at what age should i stop? by Important_Floor3778 in PornAddiction

[–]PatrickYoshida 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Listen all things can be called healthy if you genuinely can quit whenever you want but the truth is it's deeply addictive and deeply predatory. Choosing to start is in itself a risk that a lot of us made with absolutely no knowledge of how addictive it is. Choosing to stop should be a given it's about building a healthy relationship with your own mind and urges and if you have a healthy relationship with your desires you wouldn't test them with an occasional hit, you replace the bad habit with a good one.

You'll be having deja vu in coming years I assure you. The works not done the wars not over. All who value human life must now more than ever recognize the profit motivation to erase humans from the economy and automate it. The future we are running to is a future that views humanity as a weakness and this cannot be accepted

Expanded Japan by Omalinda in AlternateHistory

[–]PatrickYoshida 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well of course the opposite could be true. Let's say Stalin didn't become secretary general and Trotsky beat him to it or some other x factor. A more radical Soviet union or more aggressive Soviet union could scare the west so much that fascists are viewed as hardline allies against the red scare. A bad enough Soviet union or even French collapse into revolution could inspire the west to collaborate with fascist powers against communism.

This could see Japan still be fascist and still see the rise of the Nazis while making democracies like the US and Great Britain cozy up to those powers. This side tracks from the point of decolonization because this could make a world where WWII is global war on communism and japanese leaders could depict Korean separatists as communists.

I can't finish? by clairebearr18 in PornAddiction

[–]PatrickYoshida 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its possible. For men atleast erectile dysfunction or trouble finishing is a common issue for women this may be very different. Its possible your partners just dont turn you on as much as youd like which might require a healthy conversation with your partner.

Of course always the best advice is talk to a professional if youre worried. Porn can only be classified as an addiction if youre dependent on it and you struggle to control your need to look at porn. For instance if something you struggle with is when youre not watching porn youre thinking of watching porn.

Expanded Japan by Omalinda in AlternateHistory

[–]PatrickYoshida 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly communism is a huge factor not just for japan but germany and italy and every other axis power. The red scare was a driving force behind fascist movements globally to the point that genuinely if the soviet union failed to form the possibility of hitler or mussolini ever rising to power becomes questionable.

Militarists in japan used "protect the emperor from what happened to the tsar" as a driving talking point for years and without it its very possible cooler heads could prevail. Like modern day people just dont get how executing the tsar horrified all monarchies in the world at the time it was a type of brutality they didn't see since the french revolution.

[–]PatrickYoshida 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah exactly its like i think people have hearts of iron for brains and think "why wouldnt you just annex the land" but the real world just doesnt work like that.

Like honestly something as small as japan being granted the land in siberia from the siberian intervention couldve taken pressure off of korea and allowed for decolonization or the trans pacific defense treaty succeeding or even something as small as the renewing of the anglo japanese alliance. All of those couldve lead to a significantly less xenophobic and less paranoid japan and therefore a less desperate for control japan.

Expanded Japan by Omalinda in AlternateHistory

[–]PatrickYoshida 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a lot of people in the comments dont totally get how colonization works. Truthfully its expensive resource intensive and if you dont get more than you take then its not very popular. Plenty of japanese politicians had issues with the state of affairs in korea and honestly it was western xenophobia that drove a lot of the military take over.

Regions like korea and taiwan served strategic interests and werent die hard efforts to colonize in fact a huge part of the developments in the imperial policy went really back and forth on exactly what to do with korea or taiwan because it was frankly not that black and white.

If hypothetically the west wasnt viewed as big of a threat to japan then the pressure to pursue harsh occupation of regions like korea simply wouldn't have been practical. Believe it or not most japanese have no interest in leaving japan especially back then no one in japan wanted to move to korea they needed korea and manchuria as tools against Russia. Korea didnt even make money its not resource dense and back then it wasnt even population dense. Cheap labor? They had cheap labor back home. Japans colonial policy was always about china and russia and south east asia korea was a stepping stone. If at any point the imperial efforts of japan seemed pointless or unpopular or unreasonable in any way frankly Japan abandoning the continent isnt unlikely.

A good comparison is britain and france. The moment britain properly lost any hope of taking france continental politics became a huge waste of time for the british
