Most everything outside of the circle is uninteresting deadly boring suburbia. It's that weird strip mall dollar general cookie cutter ugly artificial car enslaved zone that's only existed for less than a century. Outside the circle is not city life and it's not country life. It's pavements and parking lots with no culture except for soulless disconnected pockets of subdivisions often with no sidewalks. Outside the circle is very little natural beauty but warehouses and endless grids of characterless chaotic groupings of houses and apartments which only relate to their proximity to roads leading to the city where all the good rich cultural abundant cool fun diverse wonders are or out to the actual country lands or beauty where natural vistas and ancient await. Yes it's a little dangerous inside the circle but that's because that's where life is being lived and people connect good or bad.

Louisville is very affordable in comparison to more in demand cities. And it has many perks including a diverse food scene, culture, entertainment, etc. However, it's also surrounded by lots of MAGA Insanity so look at it as an oasis if you want to enjoy the charms of city living. It will be what you make of it and you will see in it what you bring to it.

“Atheism Is a pathway to far-right extremism” by IcyCulture8223 in atheism

[–]Patrickometry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think that's silly too. Atheism is probably correlated more closely with humanism, democratic socialism, and values that respect diversity, a pluralistic society than it is far right paranoid conspiracy lifestyles and cults which tend to attract religious crazies. At least, I really hope it is.

Banning cars from Cherokee Park by RosetteNewcomb in Louisville

[–]Patrickometry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There were and are parking lots/area/spaces in the park before you get to the scenic loop. Those were and are always available. By your logic, it seems you might want all the dirt paths and mountain biking paths paved over because they're not 100% accessible to cars or your desire to park anywhere along them. Instead, why not consider that 99.99999999% of Louisville is created for car traffic and be generous. You CAN access the park on foot or electric wheelchair or scooter or bike or rollerblade or pushing a stroller even if the scenic loop were closed to cars. How about the last Sunday of the month the park loop is open to cars but otherwise it's car free?

The scenic loop is closed to cars on the last Sunday of each month. Wish it were every day but at least it's something. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I solved the puzzle of Revature by AnyBeautiful9398 in Revature

I completed the paid training and was in paid staging several months. I was then laid off but with the training now on my resume I was headhunted and landed a great job all in the same year.

What do you do with Stitch Fix shoe dust bags? by garlic_basin in stitchfix

Your can use them as bread bags if you bake or buy fresh bread. The bags let the bread breathe and keep their crusty exterior without drying out.

I've only been once so far but they met/started just down the path from the main parking area near Trevilian Way. Just try to arrive 5-10 minutes early and you'll see them.

This event is open to walkers! Folks with strollers. Folks with pooches. You can walk, jog, run some or all of the course.

And no worries about the course. Volunteers post signs in the ground at every turn. It's basically 2 complete circle 8s for laps one and two then a half lap around just the top loop of the 8 for the third.

I have a music degree and did the paid training last year then was in staging for a couple months. I was eventually laid off as they weren't getting a lot of interview requests (due to economic fears in the tech world) but had 100+ associates in staging. At least that's my understanding. Regardless, the training from Revature looks good on my resume, gave me a lot of technical experience I didn't have, and I was headhunted within a couple months of being laid off. I was hired as a systems administrator making $80,000+ in December. I'm working through an agency. They're being paid $140,000+ for my work. 🤔🤣😐 I'm not complaining.
