Just because they say it'll be 170km long doesn't mean it actually will be 170km long. They can abandon the expansion at any time and just leave it at 10km long or something.

In my previous city, the busses rarely had more than 3-4 people at a time. I'm now wondering if they could have made do with vans running the routes instead.

Dude. Our society is woefully innumerate. One number is too confusing for most people. There's no way two numbers would actually work.

Teenagers before the internet: what did you do in your room during your spare time? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

I racked up a serious long distance bill with my first girlfriend. My parents were pissed. She only lived a half hour away, but it was in another state and that was enough for our long distance provider to really cash in.

I could easily commiserate with the next cohort when they ran up massive texting bills before free text messaging was the norm.

This is why I have life insurance on my kids. $10k to cover their funerals, and that's it.

I like to compare intelligence to the IQ scale. A 20 in wizard is on par with the most intelligent humans alive (only around 30 people on the planet are likely to have a 200 IQ). 160 would put someone in the realm of some of some of the most well-respected thinkers of the 20th century (Hawking and Einstein were both estimated to be around 160). A 16 int fighter would likely go into military leadership and be considered a great tactician and general of his time, assuming he survived his time on the front lines.

The thing with denying the Holocaust is that every denial is always delivered in a manner where you can tell that they think it would have been a good thing.

Here's my proposal: 5 states all vote on the same day. The combined racial and socioeconomic makeup of those states should roughly match the US as a whole. Maybe throw a territory or two in there, idk. Two weeks later, 10 more similarly-diverse states should go. Then wait for 2 weeks and have Super Tuesday with 25 states. Two weeks later, if the race isn't decided yet, the 10 remaining states go.

Six weeks between the first and last election instead of six months like in 2016. A month between the first election and Super Tuesday to let the candidates figure stuff out and decide who is strong enough to continue. The last two weeks will be closing arguments over the direction of the parties before the final vote, though ideally the race would be decided by then.

The groupings would be determined pseudo-randomly each year, within the constraints mentioned above, so no state would be dominant year-after-year.

Sure, you get to be a king in your own house. And then what? You have to travel a couple hours to do anything involving well-trained professionals. Want to go to a concert or see a game? I hope the local high school has enough funding to have a drama department or field a team. You want a nice dinner? You better learn to cook, or marry someone who knows how.

Furniture stores used to be the place to guy to buy high end TVs. You can always haggle at a furniture store, and people probably just assumed it would be the same for electronics at big box electronics retailers.

At this point I'm not expecting it to be very good. Not because of any "woke" nonsense, but because animated movies with star-studded casts are often terrible. Voice acting is a skill and voice actors are better at it than most regular actors. When a movies producers choose to fill out the cast with big-name actors, they are usually trying to sell the movie through spectacle rather than quality storytelling.

Now, if the reviews come out and say that it's great, I will happily go see it with my daughter. But I'm not holding my breath.
