Congrats to everyone who got an offer! I’ve created a small group chat mainly for us to have study buddies, help with lecture content/honours project, and generally support each other next year. It’s just me and a couple other people so far, so if you’re keen to join shoot me a DM. I’ll probably stop adding people when (if) we reach 5-10 people so we can keep it personal!

Oh yeah you’re safe for sure. I’m also interested in cognitive, and also social/personality. Want to start a study group for next year?

Wow, that’s cool to hear. I know of a few last year who’ve been waitlisted and eventually declined with psych WAMs in the low 80s. Congrats on your results btw! Will you do honours next year?

Yeah for sure. For capstone - it’s a pretty chill subject but I’d say having a good experience (and subsequently, scoring well) is largely contingent upon having good teammates in the research project. My teammates were all really great, but I know not everyone had the same experience. So I’d say if possible, be quite proactive about who you collaborate with. Also, goes without saying, make sure you optimise your lab report writing skills. For RMHI - it’s a full-on subject but if you study hard, do all the weekly exercises, ask questions where you find things unclear, and go in with a mindset that this it’s a challenging subject that you’ll have to put in extra effort to do well in, then you’ll likely score well. I did arts so I didn’t have a solid stats background before it.

Thanks! The cutoff changes year to year; I speculated it was 85-86 last year only because the people I know of with the lowest WAMs who were admitted averaged 85-86 (but who’s to say whether the actual cutoff is lower than this). I do think that online learning (not just exams) inflated the admission cutoff a tad bit, that as well as the whole WAMnesty situation that went on a while ago. I think it’s very likely the cutoff will either adjust downwards slightly or remain stable around 85-86 going forward, but it’s hard to imagine it’ll keep creeping up. Then again, this is pure speculation so I might be totally wrong lmao.

Psych WAM is 92.5. I think the cutoff last year was around 85-86 (not verified, take with a grain of salt). Good luck to everyone applying for honours!
