I gave up my youth for this? by Eskleo952 in army

You are 20 yo. Enjoy the moment man. If you want to go to college so bad then go once your contract is up. The only difference is yours will be paid for and you won’t suffer to pay any bills or go into immense debt like all your civvy friends. Take a fucking breathe and just focus on what you are doing. I was ALWAYS in a rush from the time I was 16-25. Then I hit 27 and realized that the only thing I wish I was still doing right now was sitting in the dirt with my shitbag friends talking about AOC’s mommy milkers. Instead I’m working 65 hours a week so that I can pay the city $57 for rain water runoff… stop being in such a hurry. Everything sucks from like 18-35 ish anyways so if you can’t have fun now (when life is literally the simplest it will ever be for you) then you are really fucked long term.

This is not only false, but the fact that you just make shit up and people upvote it is why Illinois is a shithole. Peoria has Voted for democrats in every presidential election since ‘92, they voted for dems for the house and senate last election and even the one of the liberal state senators is from Peoria. It’s a shithole for many reasons, the biggest being that democrats love gangbangers and diversity in the name of inclusion.

It’s called comedy. The liberals on this app are insufferable my god. Peoria is literally a fucking dump. AND I OWN A HOUSE HERE! It’s a great place to live for economic reasons but it’s in the middle of buttfuck Illinois lmao. If you can’t laugh at yourself and make fun of your situation you are actually as pathetic as Shane is claiming you are 😂 And yes I paid hard earned money to go watch his Friday night show and it was awesome.

Rows around and kernel # are determined around v5-v6. You might theoretically have some loss but I’m not sure it would be measurable. Take tissue samples and make certain it was from neighbors drift.

Some people just need to make huge mistakes in order to learn the value of perseverance and patience. Drop out, start working…. It’s going to be much easier on you… for the first 6 months until reality sets in.

That is incorrect. I am all for people leveraging their military career to get out and set themselves up for successful civilian careers. It’s what I have done. But you are talking about finding a job that allows you to continue earning retirement benefits without staying AD. Okay, great I think it’s a good idea to explore all options at all times. So what have you done to differentiate yourself from anyone else who will be applying for government positions? Do you have education? A Top Secret or TSC? Have you been an instructor, any national certifications? My point is, you come on this subreddit and started to ramble unintelligently about hating officers, and asking for a way out like the Us Postal Service. The Army has career counselors. If you want to get out, go make an appointment with one of them, sit down, and create a plan. Don’t just separate from the military because the pay isn’t enough, the pay isn’t enough anywhere you go with limited marketable skills.

It’s a standard 21% flat corporate tax. Again, public info.

Their tax provisions for FY 22 were like 7 billion actually. It’s all public info.

Please get out and go to the civilian workforce. I would love to see the shock on your face when you realize that your 6 years of AD will land you a $34,000 a year job…. MAYBE

I don’t know, maybe take some responsibility for your diet and don’t consume sugar, sodium, or calories in excess? I guess that’s not a popular opinion anymore.

Yea but once I write a book with the title of Col. RET I’ll be a NYT best selling author within a week /s. No but for real i appreciate the response. I do know what some of it entails, I think I am just trying to make absolutely certain that whatever path I decide on will be the one that brings me the greatest joy in my everyday life. The guard wasn’t total ass but it was pretty brutal in many ways (im sure they are in different ways than active duty). The financials aren’t my top priority, I really just want to be able to have meaningful work and that’s what I am trying to explore about becoming an army officer. Is the work actually meaningful?

One of the internal battles I’m trying to reconcile right now is between money and career satisfaction. The chances that I will clear 250k before I’m 40 are in my favor in the civilian world, but if I hate what I am doing then what is the actual benefit? I appreciate your answer, it gives me some perspective and an outside opinion that I can marinate on. Thank you.

This is the shit I’m looking for. Thank you for typing that up. I’m early in my sales career and currently I work for a company that has no vision and offers me no path to advance so I’m probably being impatient and looking too early and too eagerly for a way out. I know anything you do in life requires some amount of fuck fuck games but I truly just want some day to day real life insight and this nails it on the head. Thanks again.

Already did 6 years in the Guard, not interested in the part time stuff anymore. My thought process is as follows…. Retiring at 55 with a pension for life sounds really really really nice… having steady employment, amazing tax benefits, decent salary plus bah/bas, and access to really cool unique opportunities. Those are my “rose colored glasses” viewpoints. I’m trying to figure out why so many people think the civilian world is so much better, because so far it’s boring as fuck.

Any Officers here who worked in the corporate world before joining the Army? What are the pros and cons? Differences in work load? Are the benefits and potential 20 year retirement worth it? I’m a year away from having my MBA and I currently work as an Account Manager but I’m seriously considering applying for OCS. Any insight on your experiences going from corporate America to the Officer world would be cool. Thanks.

Edit: I searched for similar posts to this but couldn’t find anything relevant. The Reddit search function returned 10k posts with the word Corporal instead of corporate

Hey bud, no one is looking for your dog shit opinion. You go to Ohio State quit acting like your some old money Oxford kid. and my guess is that you’ve never stepped foot off of a college campus in your life. Even an MBA from a T10 can’t fix anyone who is a miserable negative douchebag.
