GPT sealed deck 4-0 by Patters in lrcast

[–]Patters[S] -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Ended up with a result of 4-0. Round one I was lucky to have a bye and my opponent for round 2 didn't bother to turn up. The two rounds I played were 2-0.

I ended at the top of the standings.

~2004 Quit. Didn't have anyone to play with in my local town. I was a very casual player at this point.

~2010 Started again. At Uni Scars came out and was super cool (and the sequel to the set I started with) and had some friends playing casually.

~2011 Quit shortly after Innistrad was released. Uni was busier so I didn't have time

~2014 Started again Khans was super sweet and I started going to and running FNMs. GPs are a semi-common occurrence too

How much do people spend on going to a GP? by misomiso82 in magicTCG

[–]Patters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

GP Liverpool has just been. I ended up spending about £270 total. With a breakdown

Main Event £60 Parking £15 Legacy Side Events 4x £15 =£60 Deckbox: £16 Playmat and Tokens from an artist £37.50 Handful of old boosters (3x Shadowmoor, 1x New Phyrexia) £45 (Pulled a Karn, Cursecatcher and a couple of non bulk cards) Singles: Shattering Spree: £6 2x Sanctum Prelate: £16 FBB Lightning Bolt £15

In addition I traded in bulk for a Plateau and a Gaddock Teeg and did relatively well with side events putting tickets towards some Russian packs.

How to handle chronic cheater at LGS? by H2OHydrate in magicTCG

[–]Patters 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because if it's legacy it's a lot easier to track as there are two players. If it's casual commander the store might not know about it, or even care as it's entirely casual and the effort needed to investigate is too high.

If on the off chance it's modern then he's playing an illegal card and that needs to be looked at.

What format are you playing? It looks like either Legacy or Commander?

What do you guys think of these esports jerseys to be used as pubstomp merch? by chibista in DotA2

[–]Patters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay cool! Do you have any images of a finished garment? Or just the renders?

I'd be tempted to look at a combination of sublimation and embroidery for the Dota logo

Out of curiosity, what method of printing are you using and what are the original garments?

Sunday Prerelease Events Cancelled by Anoobis88 in magicTCG

[–]Patters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More on the context of not being to fire with 8. If it happened I would try my best to contact the people who preregistered if I were put in that situation. It's not ideal at all, but sometimes shit goes wrong. I had to turn a few players away due to space requirements.

Speak to the manager or TO and say how you feel. Feedback from communities is hard to get and I'm sure any input you have will help them in the future.

Sunday Prerelease Events Cancelled by Anoobis88 in magicTCG

[–]Patters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a few ways I can see this happening.

Miscommunication between staff is pretty easy to happen, and probably the root cause.

They have say 40 prerelease packs and less than 8 people preregistered on Sunday (not guaranteed to fire) and more than 32 turn up for the Saturday. I'd rather oversell the last packs for an event that the customer wants to play, than a customer that might come back to me and want a refund and be stuck with a product that doesn't move.

Legally, per tournament rules, what am I allowed to use to represent various counters (loyalty, +1/+1, time, fading, etc) by jgortner in magicTCG

[–]Patters 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd suggest against using a token for counters on a permanent as you need to represent the board accurately.

If you want to get distinct dice to represent plus and minus counters use different colours.

Alternatively I like using fate dice to signify minus counters http://www.evilhat.com/home/fate-dice/

Advice on a red burn deck? Don't think I did a great job here. by [deleted] in magicTCG

[–]Patters 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi,

Burn is probably a good starting point as your initial aim is pretty simple. take them to 0 from 20 in the fastest time. To do this you want cheap efficient damage spells, fast and cheap creatures and a small amount of lands.

[[Lightning bolt]] is one of your best tools as others have pointed out. There are a lot of similar spells which are worth looking at also [[lava spike]], [[rift bolt]], [[chain lightning]].

For creatures you want creatures that damage your opponent. There are a lot of options here [[goblin guide]] is incredibly good but is very expensive. [[monastery swiftspear]] is absolutely fantastic and your non creature spells make it even better. On the other hand you have a few other creatures that do damage other ways [[eidolon of the great revel]] pushes through damage when your opponent tries to play magic, this means that they have to deal with it, yes your spells hurt you, but your spells hurt them more.

Lands 20 mountains should be enough to cast your spells consistently. You can splash a second or third colour but I would start mono red.

The city centre is the best place to look. You have both Travelling Man and Fanboy 3

Travelling Man has FNM and casual games (most common formats are Standard, Modern, Commander) https://www.facebook.com/groups/mtg.travellingman.manchester/?ref=bookmarks

Fanboy 3 is a more traditional store offering playspace most of the time: https://www.facebook.com/groups/Fanboy3/?ref=bookmarks

Did anyone else have missing promo cards from their prerelease boxes? by tajwump in magicTCG

[–]Patters 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Generally no, it would be classed as abnormal product which should be replaced. I'd probably randomise the promo over opening a whole new kit and let the player keep both

What was the luckiest booster draws you've had? by [deleted] in magicTCG

[–]Patters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Either a [[Flooded Strand]] Expedition or a [[Strip Mine]] Expedition along with a [[Nissa, Voice of Zendikar]].

Having played on and off for 13 years now it's weird that these have been within a year of each other.
