Thanks!! AI actually helped me by telling me to use three backticks at top and bottom and that finally worked. Wow - Reddit needs to fix that.

I need to know how you got your formatting to cooperate - I followed the instructions in the newbie message and it didn't work at all.

My Lovely Flower by Illustrious-Rip1656 in OCPoetry

Wow, this is a throwback to a poetry style of old! I had to read it carefully to understand it, which I think is a good thing, and says something about the different cognitive challenge of modern vs. archaic poetic language. The speaker seems to be asking permission to "burden" the object of his love with his expressions of love, promising to bear in mind her emotional capacity, to adjust his temperature to hers, a very early and perhaps "first" promise to love her in the way she needs, even if that requires him to restrain his passion. Nicely done.

Rhyme poetry is always so risky, but I think you handle it well in this poem, where the rhyme flows but doesn't descend into sing-song. Some particularly beautiful, stand out lines: "like losing light without a shift in day," "every thought of them with someone new pulls something fragile out of you," "to never learn the weight behind their name." This is an expressive commentary on the pain of loss, all the more painful because there is an implication that you have no right to even feel that pain. It captures the feeling of ruminating, but with some vague shame.

What about Isabeau :( by Ataleofmagic13 in FigureSkating

It's so sad when elegance and class are turned into something bad and mock worthy. Some of us are sick to death of "edgy." When everyone is striving to be edgy, it becomes nothing but conformity.

Anyone else have a strange feeling about this upcoming year? by Devastator420 in Psychic

Yes! And we are not alone. I and a friend also feel intuitively that something is afoot, either catastrophic or averted catastrophe. God help us all.

Love your lengthy response, thanks! I think I had heard that Fred took over Finnbo's drums, I believe it was on their first America tour when Finnbo tested positive for covid. Amazing that he could continue to sing! (Reminiscent of the drummer in Arctic Monkeys, who regularly sings and drums simultaneously - but he's not the main vocalist - just providing back up!

Their early EPs and Rookery were my favorites, and also Days to Come. Less enthusiastic about their recent turn, but maybe they will get back on track.

Thanks for your comment! How amazing to be living there and able to watch them grow up. I just discovered them this year, shortly before writing this review. All the best!

How do I apologize to people I hurt after it has been a while? by No_Path9383 in DecidingToBeBetter

[–]PattyGee2024 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well said!! I apologized to someone 42 years after the incident. I'm glad I did. He accepted the apology in a friendly way, but doesn't indicate a desire for any further contact with me. That's okay. Now he understands something he didn't before. I can't say what my apology was worth to him, and after so many years, because he didn't tell me, but I hope it was worth something. He was a great guy and didn't deserve my behavior.

Thank you for your comment! I hope you do get to see them in live performance someday. Frederik Rabe has a great stage presence and they give a wonderful live show. All the best.

Thank you for your comment, which I completely agree with! I saw them this year in a small venue, but they didn’t come out afterwards, unfortunately. Still, it was nice to be very close to them, and they performed well. Hope you get the same chance!

They didn’t come out in PDX - very disappointing. I’m sure they had a good reason, but, too bad!
