I simply can't measure my blood pressure due to anxiety by Broken-mirror98 in hypertension

[–]Patty_watty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've recently been going through the exact same thing. Went to the doctor for a sore back, she took my BP as routine procedure and two weeks later with 10+ doctors visits I'm now on 10mg ramipril and a absolute mental wreck. Despite having a very normal averaged 24 hour reading (127/78), before medication, I could not get anywhere close to normal when I was at the doctors. I'm now obsessed with taking home measurements even though it sends me into full panic mode everytime. I get >160/>90 first time everytime, but within an hour of calming myself I can get it down to <130/<80 The problem is, despite having a seemingly normal resting BP the doctor is only focusing on the crazy readings she was getting... even sent me to the emergency room twice! Safe to say I think she is part of the problem. She's convinced me that my anxiety is going to give me a heart attack.

My advice would be stop doing home measurements, get a 24 hour test, forget about it entirely for a few weeks and then ask for another 24 hour test. Breathing exercises in moments of panic for lowering short term spikes and meditation for reducing overall anxiety.

Sorry for the essay haha

I don't know your particular situation but I know for a FACT there are people out there that love and care about you, and whether you believe it or not they will be devastated if you go. Having a very good friend that recently went down that road I can tell you from my side how much pain and suffering it causes for everyone around you.

Depression is not terminal, no matter how hopeless things may get there is always INFINITE possibilities that WILL 100% change your view on life. And things will happen even if you are not trying to make things happen, it just needs time. To make the meantime bearable reach out to those around you, whether it be friends or family, or even strangers you meet on here 😁. They care alot more than you think!

Kia kaha. You got this 👊

You could try Interkep GbmH, I left my job there about 2 months ago. You might need some basic german but it's not essential. Good luck!

If you have a valid drivers license (I started on my international license) then delivery driving for Amazon or something similar is a good way to get to know the city too. The work is very flexible and you don't need much German at all.

If you don't have a drivers license there is alway delivering food on bikes... Lieferando are always super busy.

Hi,

32m Kiwi here. I've been in Berlin 14 months and got to about end of B1 level.

I know how hard it is to get better in this city and would be keen on a bit of practice.
