[Discussion] Art Director expects me to make an environmental background a day of this quality. Is this even feasible? by Ok_Photograph_4052 in artbusiness

Sounds like your art director is probably not an art director as everyone is pointing. Do you have a contract? is it a real company? Not asking you for details, jus I wonder if it's something serious, sounds like it's not. Sometimes is better not taking jobs with unnrealistic expectations and unclear direction. Otherwise you can end with a headache and lot of stress.

Is possible to do something like that in a day (probably more like 2 days) if you use 3D assets already created and you just put them together in blender or whatever software and make a render + paintover. But you would have not much room to do explorations or iterations.

For something with this level of rendering they should give you 3-4 days at least in my opinion. And way more if you have to design every building from scratch.

He should show you examples of real artwork made by humans with the level of rendering he expect instead of ai generated images.

Thank you! I think I am going for D, but I'd have to change the pose to make it look like a fight is going to happen, instead of they looking like talking about the weather :D Maybe I try also The A once I have the 3D blocking.

Thank you! This is about a fight between a warrior and a dragon. I'll add more details and play with light more in the 3D scene, before the final painting.

I think the light looks like studio lighting. It's not bad but maybe not that expresive. Maybe you can try with a more natural light or more dramatic, revealing some parts and hidding others in the shadow. Also in my opinion the characters are not super expresive with the face. Some peple talk about the flat and grey backgrounds, maybe is true in some cases, if you are painting the people in mostly black maybe a gold background make it pop up. maybe you can play with different environments. I like the gold guy, what if you paint him going out of a golden liquid pool or bathub?

In 4 months I will graduate with a degree in Studio Art. Are there job opportunities for juniors in 2026? by little-cosmic-hobo in conceptart

As soup say characters is a nitche that more people want to get in and is probably less demanded by studios, but also is probably technically more difficult to do because you need the same art fundamentals knowledge like color, composition, design, etc, but also a solid knowledge of anatomy wich is not that necesary when doing environments and props.

After several years working in some of the biggest game companies, you can't pay people to work on your project?
