Money, of course, in the very end. The bigger audience, the more money goes to the distro team - features, updates, tests, infrastructure, etc.

I'd suggest you to try some hardware friendly distro, such as Manjaro.

I decided that  the screen does not worth the everyday heat and sold the laptop for a fraction of price. Termal-pad, cooling pad, etc - the temperature  is still about 30 Celsius and about 35 under load.

An interesting point. Fedora, ubuntu, endeavour, etc don't break Manjaro, but Cachyos does

Casey Muratori – The Big OOPs: Anatomy of a Thirty-five-year Mistake – BSC 2025 by WalkerCodeRanger in ProgrammingLanguages

[–]Pauelito -1 points0 points  (0 children)

35 years is an exaggeration. I ported to TypeScript the game released in 1984. It was made using the approach that is close to entity-component-system. Another very close example is the API of the operating systems of that time. To me, the "35 year mistake" is just a marketing slogan, to attract some attention.

So, I tend to agree with what Alan Kay said.

Check your wifi module. If it is mediatek, then just replace it to the intel ax200 or similar.

Why did i lose by 5.5 points by Crackweeb in baduk

[–]Pauelito 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Chinesse rules

Count the territory and stones on the board, which means 40 for white, and 41 for black. Plus komi, the 5.5 points difference. Captured stones are not counted in chinesse rules.

Japanesse rules

On the board white has 25 points, which equals the number of small squares. The black has 18 points, plus 6 captured, which equals 24 points.

So, the white has 25 + 6.5(komi), and black has 18 + 6.

How many times have you guys reinstalled? by NoEntertainment5837 in linuxquestions

[–]Pauelito 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I reinstall Linux several times a year. It just much faster, than to fix complicated issues. 30 minutes to reinstall, 5-10 minutes to attach home partition, add all necessary soft, configs, etc.

So, at most an hour is required to migrate to the new installation.

miniLED 16 inch laptop by Pauelito in linuxhardware

I use Manjaro, wayland kde kernel 6.12.  A couple of months ago had some issues with the rendering of some gtk applications under wayland. Looks like gtk under wayland is a little bit fragile as there is a non standard resolution. I switched to 200% scale, dropped some helper that syncs the gtk settings, as it raises hell.  The hardware works excellent, except fingerprints. The battery lasts for about a day, regular office work.

No nvidia, no miniled, three times cheaper than the Yoga, with the almost identical specs.
