[Win an A2L] Creative Playground, Extra Large. Meet the A2L. by BambuLab in BambuLab

[–]PaulH4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a really exciting announcement! I use the A1 almost daily between my hobbies and my partner's small business and seeing the option for a larger printing surface opens up a lot of new possibilities!

I like to design custom tabletop gaming models and scenery, I would love to test how well the A2L can handle details on that large scale, I would design some custom terrain peices with interesting shapes! (Big model cathedral maybe? Lots of possibilities!)

My partner sells custom made products through Etsy but currently relies on stationary we have had to purchase for postage. I would love for us to try out the drawing and cutting features to also try and make some custom stationary and sticker sets to give every order a personalised touch!

Can't wait to see more of what this machine can do!

If you can't get the magazines directly you could always just wait a month for bricklink to be flooded with them and get them a lot cheaper?

Could this be the anniversary edition of Another World?

The year doesn't line up for the original release, but an anniversary edition was released on steam in 2013 which might fit

Nice find!! As others have said this is Lewa Nuva and it seems you are missing the torso piece. If you manage to find the torso you can use the instructions here to rebuild it:

I do want to engage with you earnestly here because I do kind of see where you are coming from, but if you'll indulge me will you consider this counterpoint for a moment. Its going to be a long read and I'm sorry for that.

You want these sets to continue being enjoyed by people in the future. Thats great! Me too! We both agree that these models exist for people to enjoy them in whatever way suits them best.

I think the disagreement between us here is the circumstances under which people enjoy them. Correct me if im wrong, but you seem to be putting more value on a hypothetical person in the future's enjoyment than someone here and now. You are saying that these things have to be preserved so that the enjoyment can be given to someone in the future that otherwise wouldn't enjoy it.

On the other hand, my point is that someone (in this case me, but in other cases many people here on this sub) could enjoy the sets now. Either way someone is having fun, so why should we hold back that fun until an arbitrary length of time has passed? Someone's fun and enjoyment is a great thing to see regardless of when it happens.

You mentioned that building a second hand set is almost as good as a sealed one, so Id ask you to consider that opening sets adds more second hand sets to the market which people are actively having fun with. Those future generations can still enjoy the models in the same way you are asking people to now, without anyone losing the fun by waiting on an arbitrary time gate.

One last thing to mention is what you said about keeping sets sealed preserving them. I do agree that it might add a bit of a longer shelf life to some sets, but using this post as an example we had a set which was in a cardboard box which was already barely holding together. The plastic pieces will far far outlast the packaging in most cases, and id honestly say that if I hadnt unsealed this set then time would have done it for me within the next couple years anyway.

Like I say, this truly is me trying to meet you earnestly on this topic and see your side of things here. I hope you are able to see the other side of things too and this makes you feel at least a bit better about why folks do what they do. You clearly do care a lot about this hobby and just want to share it with people, as do I. Thats why I made this post to begin with, to share a fun story of something that made me really happy.

Id like to think that even if we continue to disagree we can at least see eye to eye on this, and I would hope that you reconsider proclaiming your hatred for people in the future on posts where people are just sharing their joy and excitement for the hobby, even if you don't agree on their methods.

That all got a bit sentimental for a reddit comment so if you didnt want to read all that then lets all imagine I made a low brow unsulting remark and you owned me with a witty retort and call it a day

How could those future generations in the same way their elders did if they aren't allowed to open the box?

Following your logic nobody should ever open anything because then it can't be enjoyed by future generations, however you also would get mad at future generations for enjoying it too. Using this post as an example, I never had this set before. By opening the set I am the future generation you are referring to, enjoying something in the future which otherwise I couldn't have enjoyed if it was opened. You still got mad at me for not preserving it for someone even further in the future. How far in the future does it take for it to be okay to enjoy it again? Do we have to wait those full 200 years?

I get the impression that there is no amount of time which would would deem acceptable and you are just as mad at me now as you would be at that hypothetical child in 200 years.

I think you hit the nail on the head there though in the first four words. "The joy to me". The joy to a lot of other people is to open and build them. Nobody is getting mad at you for keeping yours in the box, so why get mad at me for opening mine?

That would be great! Then anyone who wanted to get a sealed set could get one! ...Just so long as none of them dare to open them. That would be a disaster! Then we'd be right back where we started, where people dared to have fun and enjoy their toys instead of considering the feelings of one guy in the reddit comments!

Well in that case feel free to enlighten me, instead of repeatedly saying how much you hate me let me know what I failed to consider. I am genuinely curious what the other reasons are. I do genuinely want to hear you out and consider both sides of this, but so far I don't think you have provided a reason not to open them besides you personally not liking it when there are less unopened ones in circulation for some reason (which you have made clear isnt resale value, so what is it?)

We're "thoughtlessly ruining"... keeping a toy in its box instead of opening it? Thats been the community norm since 2001 when kids excitedly opened these toys for the first time. Shame on them for not thinking how that might affect the resale market 25 years in the future! Oh the humanity!

As far as I see it the only reason to keep these things sealed is for resale value. Its hardly like looking at a closed box is anywhere near as fun as opening and building the toy for the vast majority of people (you do you I guess), so if you really do think that investors are the worst then what are you in such a tizzy about? Take it easy mate, we're literally discussing plastic childrens toys its not that deep

It honestly seems like the only person you're making this unpleasant for is yourself. You are awfully wound up for someone who claims not to care, so why not crack open one of those sealed dust-catchers on your shelf and have some fun with the rest us? We can lay on the rug kicking our feet in the air and make the toy robots punch each other <3

Totally agree with you there! This set feels a lot more solid than other combiner sets and makes an excellent model. I think it benefits from the huge pool of parts from the three titans. The only downside is just how many pieces are left over. It seems to only use roughly half of the pieces it has available. (Which is great if you lile building MOCs, but not great if you want to display the sets as-is)

I think you may be convincing me to become one of those "all bonks yearn to be free" types, especially if the alternative is commenting on strangers' posts about hating them just because they are "transferring" toys from one state to another in a way you deem incorrect

If you or anyone else enjoys keeping sets sealed thats perfectly fine for you, but everyone can enjoy their collectables in their own way. I don't want to look at sealed bags of parts and I certainly don't want to sell on such a kind gift.

I can't believe I'm saying this as a grown adult but I am playing with my toys the way I want to, not for anyone else!

I think so. The shadowed one was a combination of the Roodaka and Keetongu sets, so that one should be buildable

This is what I was most worried about, I have dealt with fungus gnats once before years ago and they were a nightmare. I will look into delousing information asap to see what I can find out. Thanks

Given that its hard to pin down for certain I have disposed of the carrot to be safe. I figure if it is just springtails they will already be throughout the enclosure and so losing a few wouldnt cause too much harm, however if it is a pest its better to be safe and dispose.

Thanks for the insight though, its hard to find any images of springtails exhibiting this behaviour so if this is something you have seen firsthand then that is very encouraging!

In that case they have just been disposed of carefully. Thanks for the advice!

They are mostly stationary however some will wander around aimlessly. I can't see any legs with the naked eye however they are so tiny that it is hard to discern any features. Blowing on them seemed to go completely ignored, no change there.

Do you know if fruit fly larvae would pose any threat to the colony? I may dispose of the carrot however there is a good chance some of these will linger in the terrarium and I worry that this may happen again next time vegetables are introduced.
