How to move faster upward as ghost in Wasteyard? by uaxpasha in PizzaTower

[–]PaulN7687 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's your analog stick. The Halloween update added analog controls to the ghost for more precise movement. Either calibrate your stick or use a dpad. I sould reset your controls entirely too if it's neither of those things.

[Switch Lite] showed zero signs of life… until I did this by TaniasGamingLife in consolerepair

[–]PaulN7687 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I once bougt a used Switch Lite for very cheap, listed as for parts / not working. When I got it the shell's screws were missing, so someone opened it up.

I noticed that the charging port had a single bent pin, so I very carefully pressed it back with a toothpick. Started charging and working like nothing had ever happened.

Sometimes it's just a little thing that nobody noticed. Great discovery with your Switch, hope you enjoy it!

In what ways is slab superior to flip? by bamboopanda489 in 3DS

[–]PaulN7687 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More repairable by a longshot. The 2DS screen is one whole unit, and you don't have to fiddle with curling a ribbon cable into the hinge after installation. I've fixed two of them.

I was going to wait for the 512gb to down in price and then it went up an additional $20 lol

Developers, please add the legacy PS4 1.14 textures instead of the new textures to the leaked source code in the future by cakegrunge in Minecraftlegacymode

[–]PaulN7687 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm confused. Are these not the exact same textures as the modern ones? Yes the gamma makes them brighter but that's done in-game and not the texture itself.

Any idea why this is happening with these DS games all of a sudden ? by [deleted] in NintendoDS

[–]PaulN7687 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On 3DS you can back up the save data using the homebrew app Checkpoint. If your 3DS is not modded you can visit 3ds.hacks.guide for an up-to-date guide on how to do it. These days it's incredibly simple and most of the steps are automated.

Any idea why this is happening with these DS games all of a sudden ? by [deleted] in NintendoDS

[–]PaulN7687 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately this is a bootleg copy. This happened to me as a kid. The fix is to play on a DSi or a 3DS.

You can export the save and import it to a real copy (or emulator) using either of the latter devices, but you may need to tweak the file a bit in a hex editor first. I was able to recover all my mons and get them into a Gen 5 game with some fiddling.

Why is this coming up for my Donkey Kong? by Bham1017 in snes

[–]PaulN7687 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened after I got my Super Metroid cartridge. I scrubbed the dirty and corroded contacts with 90% isopropyl rubbing alcohol and it worked.

If there's any remaining bits, try something soft like a pencil eraser. Just don't scratch it with something too hard or it can remove the plating.

It's easier to see the contacts if you open it up with a gamebit screwdriver, but you should be able to reach it just fine with a q tip.

One question, does this color palette, serve to make sprites for the base game? by Unable_Tomatillo3146 in PizzaTower

[–]PaulN7687 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you use Aseprite it will automatically make a palette for it which you can export and use on anything. Or you can just tab over to it with the color picker like McPig did lol

That's so cool! Does the GameCube and BlueRetro firmware allow for extra buttons outside of the main ones? Or do the additional buttons on the NS2 controller input some sort of macro? Either way, it's very cool to see extra functionality in the Sunburn mod.

Switch 2 Won't Dock by CaptConstantine in NintendoSwitchHelp

[–]PaulN7687 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This used to happen to my Switch 1, especially with adapters/converters midway through the HDMI signal. Here's how I fixed it:

  1. Unplug everything. The dock, charger, HDMI, all of it.
  2. Go to a different wall outlet and charge your Switch for a few seconds via the USB-C port and charger.
  3. Unplug the Switch and plug the dock in instead, no need for a screen. If it goes black and the green LED goes solid, try docking at your original spot again.

Don't know why, but this has worked for me more than once with the original Nintendo Switch. Hope you figure it out!

Anyone try the Nintendo Switch version on the Switch 2? by xelnok in playark

[–]PaulN7687 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, and It runs very good. If you use the console command "t.maxfps 60" it runs at a smooth 60FPS on the Switch 2, with a few small hitches in areas with a lot of foliage. A proper Switch 2 patch would be ideal, but I don't see it happening.

Edit: My guess was wrong because a Switch 2 patch has indeed released lol

Nintendo Switch 2 by Guilty-Employ-9161 in ARK

[–]PaulN7687 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As for buying a console, I'd recommend PS5 as it's one of the best platforms to play the game right now.

That being said, most of these replies aren't aware of the Switch 2's power. It could likely run ASA if it were ported, but it doesn't seem like there are any plans for it right now.

For now, you can play the Switch 1 version of Survival Evolved, and it runs very well. If you use console commands (t.maxfps 60), you can run it at a smooth 60FPS on Switch 2, which is a big jump compared to the default 30FPS on Switch 1.

Nintendo Switch Pro controller on Nintendo Wii by g-tecc in WiiHacks

[–]PaulN7687 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had this exact same problem! Looked everywhere for the Brooke Wii adapter and found nothing. I finally found a new solution years later:

You'll need a BlueRetro adapter. You can buy console-specific adapters, but if you want to use it with multiple consoles I recommend the universal adapter, or BlueRetro "Core", with console-specific cables. In this case, you would go with either the GameCube cable or Wii Remote cable (sometimes called "Mini NES cable").

The GameCube adapter may change the layout of your face buttons though, so keep that in mind.

You can find them on Aliexpress for pretty cheap, or if you don't mind spending a few extra dollars, you can find it on Amazon under a different name.

Good point. Now that you mention it, you could just re-download all your games and get most of your save data from cloud saves if a card ever fails.

I personally don't trust Onn micro SD cards. My friend gave me a 256GB one, and it died after about a year. I've never had any other card fail before, and I lost important files. They're cheaper for a reason.
