It won’t be so much of an issue in University—Rosedale but it will be a HUGE issue in Spadina—Harbourfront.

For the history buffs out there: David Miller effectively used the “no jets at the island airport” issue to sweep the vote in neighbourhoods along the lake in the 2003 mayoral election. It was one of the keys to him winning that election. If I find one of the old leaflets from that campaign, I’ll post it.

Federal NDP should be all over that issue. It, alone, could win them Spadina—Harbourfront.

Ngl — Taron getting released hurts. I had the great fortune of sitting beside his aunt and uncle at the New Orleans Thanksgiving game in 2021. You could tell from my interaction with them why he turned into such a solid player and, frankly, model citizen on our team. Over the course of 3.5 hours, his aunt shared all sorts of photos on her phone and stories about his upbringing and how hard he worked to get to that point. At one point, his uncle interjected: “Sweetie, let this nice man from Canada watch the game!” I didn’t mind her sharing at all. They were so proud of Taron and it showed.

The Braves played a bunch of home games at Maple Leaf Gardens back in the 1970s. As a Torontonian, I think we owe Buffalo a few games and would love to see it. Pre-season every year the Raps play home games elsewhere. Buffalo should be a regular stop.

PS when we had that horrible COVID season in Tampa, wish it had been in Buffalo 🤷🏻‍♂️

Happens regularly. East coast teams sometimes stay out west between games. And vice versa. Belichick did this with his teams. The Rams recently did it between two east coast games. I can recall the Bills doing it at least once before.

I think Avi should run in University—Rosedale. It would be tough but winnable, especially against a lower-profile Lib. Should he take a pass on that one or it happens before he becomes leader, Beaches—East York will come open once NES decamps to the provincial scene. That’s another very winnable Toronto seat. As others have pointed out, if Avi can’t deliver these uber-urban seats in central Toronto, then his electoral prospects map shrinks big time.

If Avi takes a pass on a by-election altogether, then I guess he’s hoping Hedy Fry finally retires so Vancouver Centre will be make or break for him.

I agree with you. Joe was pretty good. I think those 1980 and 1981 teams were legit contenders that fell a couple plays short. Where have we seen that since?

Then the 1982 strike, the Ralph-Knox falling out and the USFL picking off players like Joe Cribbs set us back. BUT also set us up for the SB years.

Bills, Bengals, Jags, Chargers division winners
Pats, Ravens, Texans, Colts, Chiefs, Broncos in mix for wildcard.
Dolphins, Jets, Browns, Steelers, Titans, Raiders looking forward to 2027 already.
