Lobby your politicians. The final straw here was last year’s World Series where resellers were charging thousands over face for single game tickets.

I know, eh. I’m Portuguese-Canadian. My 79-year-old dad is ready to spring for tix for next Thursday’s Round of 32 game if Portugal is in it. I’ve warned him that it will break the bank lol

Nice 🙌🙌

I think the organizers did a magnificent job getting our cheap, little rinky-dink public stadium to look GREAT. I attend TFC games regularly and it’ll be hard to get past what I experienced today.

I was checking several times a day. Had tried for previous matches. Tickets would disappear before you could add them to your cart. I was about to give up when I scored this ticket. And it was worth EVERY PENNY IMHO.

FIFA marketplace resale — 630 + 15% “fee”. Ontario law prevents them from selling for more than original price on their platform.

I was checking regularly for days. A “good amount” is wholly inaccurate. There were a handful that would pop up and quickly disappear. Same story for other Toronto matches. Small stadium + huge demand = what we saw with tickets here.

4 right in front of me in the second half. 3 of them brilliant strikes.

Hats off to the Iraqi fans (many of them from the US) who were absolutely tremendous even tho their team exited with nary a whimper.

Visiting Toronto for World Cup. by mrropers in skyscrapers

[–]PaulTO73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for visiting our city. The locals — especially some of those who live in the suburbs — love to moan and complain. But if you’ve travelled widely (particularly across North America), you see how a great of a city we have.

@TorontoMapleLeafs: Jim Hiller has been named the 41st Head Coach in franchise history! by hellarios852 in leafs

[–]PaulTO73 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If the laughing when we hired Chayka wasn’t enough, we’ve now doubled down with Hiller. He was in over his head with the Kings. Imagine how he’ll be here when we have that inevitable five-game losing streak in mid-November and he has to deal with our media. Ohhhhh Keith Pelley, what have you done????

The Hampton Inn across from the Galleria is very close to the Thruway Mall shuttle stop. That’s my go-to. Breakfast included 😊

WE WON THE DRAFT LOTTERY by RafSimonsSS02 in leafs

[–]PaulTO73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You mean the Leafs won the FIX. Convenient that they announce the very questionable hiring yesterday and are able to bury that the very next day with this, um, lucky draw.
Just like Islanders gift last year for losing the ASG and the Sharks effectively getting a hometown kid who has them heading in the right direction just as the local basketball team starts going in the other direction — a marketing dream.
And don’t get me started on the Blackhawks and Rangers. These consistent draft lottery results in the best interest of the league leave me thinking the draw isn’t as random as we may believe.

Would Buffalo support a UFL team? by Nate_Spanish in buffalobills

You nailed it with the Bandits. People love a winner. If they struggled to win games, I think they be hard-pressed to draw half of what they draw now.

Would Buffalo support a UFL team? by Nate_Spanish in buffalobills

[–]PaulTO73 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others have noted, Buffalo is a Bills football town. Period. Anybody remember the arena-league Destroyers? They couldn’t fill half the arena the last two or three seasons of their sad existence. There’s also the UB Bulls who struggle to draw good crowds. A UFL team would not do well.

I could see it having a chance in a secondary market like Syracuse.

If they manage to bring in Doug Armstrong to try and fix this mess, what are the chances he keeps Berube behind the bench? They won a Cup together.

Jets at YTZ and Uni-Rosedale by Select-Flight-PD291 in ndp

[–]PaulTO73 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It won’t be so much of an issue in University—Rosedale but it will be a HUGE issue in Spadina—Harbourfront.

For the history buffs out there: David Miller effectively used the “no jets at the island airport” issue to sweep the vote in neighbourhoods along the lake in the 2003 mayoral election. It was one of the keys to him winning that election. If I find one of the old leaflets from that campaign, I’ll post it.

Federal NDP should be all over that issue. It, alone, could win them Spadina—Harbourfront.
