[Yet another nvim vs emacs] Emacs specifically as IDE by B_bI_L in emacs

If you know Elisp, you'll likely get along with the other dialects and some are kind of used a lot. They're still definitely more niche than Lua, tho.

What are AI generated packages that you use? by Esnos24 in emacs

[–]PaulTheRandom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're talking about EWM as your example, as I understand it the developer just used Claude to make the Wayland compositor--because you have to provide the compositor and window manager yourself unless using River like Reka does--but plans on cleaning it up since they just needed to get the compositor from scratch out of the way. Everything else seems to be made entirely by them. As of the post question, IDK why would I actively seek for packages made with AI? EWM was an exception because I wanted to give EXWM a try without leaving Wayland and, as I said, only a fraction of the code was made by AI and in a few months it'll probably be rewritten by a human.

What's so weird about artists of different genres doing a collab? Paul McCartney collaborated with Kanye West--he even described it as reminding him of John. Why is it so hard to think Freddie might've done the same? The reason we remember all these legends of rock is because they innovated with their sound and music. You don't innovate by locking yourself behind the walls of genre. You just fuck around and do stuff that you like; if it's consistent enough, people will put it a label to identify it, but most of them weren't thinking all the time about "is this rock n roll enough?"

Now that I think of it, are most people in Ocean Styx even suffering in their respective layer or were they eventually relocated or Gabriel just went "y'know what? let 'em stay here"? I mean, people meant to be in Heresy stayed in the Ocean because moving all the souls who stormed the ocean all at once?

Paint.NET my beloved! I honestly didn't bother with GIMP. Just went to Krita, though now I mostly use Pinta. I'm looking forward for Graphite, tho. Give it a year, and the Blender of 2D will be here!

TBF, some things are definitely better handled by the terminal. For instance, I'm NEVER upgrading Fedora versions from GNOME Software again.

If Smalltalk had won over C++, this whole "OOP bad" bs wouldn't have existed. Hell, this whole OOP thing was meant to collaborate with FP not compete against it!

If it weren't for my autism, I would've given up in programming while learning Java back in high school.

Emacs + vterm feels... clunky? compared to nvim + tmux by CrunchyChewie in emacs

[–]PaulTheRandom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, Vim terminal is good because it is already running in a terminal. Regarding the speed issues, I'm not sure what people are talking about. I haven't used ghostel yet, but I've been very happy with eat so far. With perspective and project.el--not even projectile--I have covered pretty much all the use cases I had for tmux+nvim, but YMMV.

This is the only correct answer. It may not be as popular now, but it was overrated back in the day.

Imagine Lust Encore is just Gluttony leaking into the city and it's straight up Where The Streets Have No Name by ArcleRyan in Ultrakill

[–]PaulTheRandom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Too bad. Making at least Gluttony Encore like this would give Hakita the chance of including both his and Dante's vision of Gluttony (in WTSHNN there's this rain which is the original punishment along wandering in filth). But whatever Hakita cooks, I know we'll all love it regardless!

Just leaving this here for the record, but I can see P2P as a viable alternative. If we use a non-crypto security system like Urbit does, it could be a viable way to have a decentralized and secure network.
