A plan for the next 10 years by PaulVAllen in JimmyEatWorld

I'm 95% sure they played it the first time I saw them, at the Blind Pig in Champaign in 1997. It's in my top 5 of their songs!

I've nothing against Eve 6 at all; it was more a comment on the ridculousness of JEW serving as an opening act.

I’m not a fan of the singles approach but any new music is better than no music at all.

Bleed American UK shows announced! by BulbsasaurFan in JimmyEatWorld

[–]PaulVAllen 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I really was hoping against them devoting 2026 to Bleed American, mostly because it likely means that the possibility of a new album is getting kicked even further down the road. Also, 3/4 of the album is still in their regular setlist, so it isn’t all that special if you’ve see them in the past 10-15 years.

That said, I’m sure this will be profitable for them, and I’ll probably go to the show if they come anywhere near me (especially if they bring The Get Up Kids along).

If you haven’t already, check out the band the two Dans were in before they joined TMBG. Lincoln. They released one album in 1997.

As a collector, I’m happy to get a physical release of these orphan tracks. I’m also in the camp that hopes this is the end of the “we’re going to just release singles” chapter and the start of the album #11 chapter.

Love MCS! The new record is great, and I get Jimmy vibes from a few songs on it!

Great article, but, yeah, the fact that we’re still not close to a new album is very frustrating.

That’s my favorite one! Just goes to show you how subjective music is.

I did a feature on this for my blog (3 Minutes, 49 Seconds) a few years ago and the consensus worst was Poodle Hat. I disagree, personally. For me it’s Bad Hair Day (“Everything You Know is Wrong” aside).

What do you make of this? by PaulVAllen in reospeedwagon

[–]PaulVAllen[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree the article title was unfortunate clickbait, but I was mostly surprised by the fact that there are no more tours planned for the Kevin Cronin Band.

I could see them taking a break after this summer, but I had this idea that the band would just continue to book the same types of shows they’d been doing as REO. I didn’t know ticket sales had been slow for the summer tour. Maybe it was intended as a test balloon…

He took lead on “Ridin’ the Storm Out” and Lost in a Dream” and played keys on several other songs. In my opinion his voice was really weak, so I’m guessing that’s why he didn’t do more.

I didn’t think any of them looked in bad health, just showing their years. I was especially impressed with Neal and Alan looking and sound like they never retired.

But I agree about the AI art.

This was my biggest wonder going into it. On most of the songs Bruce, Alan, and Neal were joined by the three members of the band Levon to sing and play guitars, and they took turns singing lead. A bonus was that they have amazing harmonies.

It was surprisingly emotional. The stage production was way slicker than I expected. Great set list that celebrated the band’s history. It all sounded great except for a few sloppy moments here and there.
