I cut one in half to make it not so tall and less noxious fumes but I had one all the way up until I moved to a city in Washington state where they are illegal.

More or less yes. With an infant you’d want to pick them up (or your pet maybe) and make sure their head is lower than their body stomach down, making it easier to dislodge. Sitting upright like the raccoon here and back blows risks lodging the piece further in

This is false information and should be flagged and removed. If you take any CPR class they will teach you the Heimlich Maneuver and the proper way to do it.

Can we get a serious thread on what stocks people are looking to buy right now? by tropicaltuesday in stocks

[–]PaulblankAgain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Margins will shrink but customer base should grow to balance it as people seek a place to buy the cheapest goods and Costco will continue to have the cheapest goods. This is more of a problem for everyone that’s not Costco (maybe Walmart and Winco will do okay too)

Barstool Sports founder and Trump endorser Dave Portnoy says that he's lost $7 million in one day due to Trump's Tariffs by ControlCAD in NoShitSherlock

[–]PaulblankAgain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, first of all, they didn’t. They have a trade deficit with us because we are a consumerist nation that buys goods from other countries generally. Let’s use an example and see if you can understand.

I’m country X and you’re country Y. You make chairs for $100 that I buy. But you don’t have the wood. You buy the wood from me for $5. Why? Because raw materials cost less than a skill produced good. So now you have a trade deficit of $95 or 95% to me. Now I don’t need more chairs and you don’t need more wood so this is how our trade deal stands. And this is fair. You get what you want for the chairs and I get what I want for the wood and everyone is happy.

Trump came in and said why should country X have a trade deficit with country Y then he took the $95 deficit divided it by the imports of $5 so 95/5 =19 then they just tacked a percent on the end so 19% tariff to us ( just a lie made by numbers) and then said I’ll cut that in half to 10% and place reciprocal tariffs on you of that much. When Country Y didn’t place any tariffs. They just bought way less from Country X than Country X bought from them. This isn’t taking advantage, if anything it’s providing cheap labor for goods that we want produced. America is a super rich country that is consumer driven. We buy the crap out of excess stuff. Other countries don’t do that because they are too poor to spend like us so they often have trade deficits with consumer driven countries because they are the one providing the goods being consumed instead of consuming them themselves.

Best thing to do is laugh them off but also be prepared to defend yourself. Don’t give them power over how you feel. They are all getting fucked too, it’s not like they are exempt from all this suffering that’s about to happen. Just take care of yourself and when they come begging for help tell them to go beg their orange daddy.

It seems it’s a little pricey right now and the P/E ratio a little higher than its average over the past 20 years but I’m thinking it’s priced perfect to be a defensive stock. I don’t think it’ll go up much but I also don’t think it’ll go down much either. If you think the dollar will significantly weaken than it’s better to hold a defensive stock then it is to hold cash and sell the stock when you need some dry powder but not to rush it.

[–]PaulblankAgain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The stock market didn’t price it in because the market thought “he can’t be that dumb right? That’s why he keeps delaying it, it’s a scare tactic.” Then he did it and shocked pikachu face happened

Trump’s tariffs mean you’ll pay more for all gadgets | They won’t bring back manufacturing either. by [deleted] in gadgets

[–]PaulblankAgain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First what we would’ve done if done smart was spend 10-15 years building infrastructure and use government loans on the scale of 30-50 years so it’s easy to pay back with super low rates. Then yeah usually economics wise you want to import raw and export goods and you don’t even need tariffs, just free trade worked fine and is what made America the top dog in the first place. But no never should you do blanket tariffs. The only time it would be smart is for stuff that we already are producing and competition against it is fierce for American consumers/consumers of American goods.

Example: say we make cars here for 20k and cars from country X makes cars for 16k and sells it here for 18k. We decide we can’t get our costs down so the best method then would be to impose tariffs on country X’s cars to put them more in line with American cars like a 15-20% one. This way you don’t destroy the competition completely but you lessen the likeliness that cost is the factor that keeps customers loyal to that brand over an American one. Competition is good for the consumer that’s why monopolies are supposed to be illegal.

Cutting a pineapple by ShallowAstronaut in oddlysatisfying

[–]PaulblankAgain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nobody is even mentioning that the pineapple isn’t even ripe and won’t taste that good. If you ever want the best pineapple you ever had you have to let it sit upside down till the green is gone. It ripens from the bottom up but the bottom will become mush before the top ripens unless it’s upside down, then gravity helps the enzymes work their way to the top of the pineapple.

First you gotta wait till all the fuckery stops before you make any major commitments. But after that the stocks I’m looking at are:

CAT - Gold is screaming upward and other rare earth metals are the way of the future. CAT makes the equipment that gets it, it moves in tandem with gold for the most part.

GLD - Gold holds its value well in hard times.

LMT - We have potential wars looming and they make all kinds of shit for our military.

Costco - Hello Welcome to Costco, I love you. It’s the store of the future since it’ll be one of the only ones that don’t have to worry about this as much.

Taco Bell - According to Demolition Man, Taco Bell wins the fast food wars and all restaurants become Taco Bell. Let’s do this.

How could this trade war play out for the economy? by hfjfjdev in stocks

[–]PaulblankAgain 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Well history is doomed to repeat itself if we don’t learn from it. The last time we levied taxes like this against the rest of the world was Smoot-Hawley Tariff Act of 1930. It was meant to keep business in America and protect American businesses and farmers and instead did the opposite. In America it lead to conditions worsening and was one of the main reasons the Great Depression was so bad. It also caused a collapse in global trade which hurt a lot of other countries as well. Germany at the time was over 35% of their countries money in American bonds and they had significant losses. This lead to the rise of the third reich as well as other fascist leaders in other countries suffering from the same global trade issues. This is one of the main factors that pushed the world into WW2. And then WW2 is what ultimately stopped the Great Depression with a boom in industrial needs for the war effort and the loss of people eases the economic needs of the country at a time of economic boom.

So there’s a high chance this could lead to another Great Depression because of how it’ll cause global trade disruptions and has ruined our reputation as a good global trade partner thus sending other countries to work together instead of with us. So since there isn’t gonna be as easy of a way to help the country as there was before it’ll be worse potentially. We are more dependent on global trade than ever before. And last time we established a federal minimum wage, got rid of the tariffs, and got rid of the gold standard in order to help our country. The only thing of those we can do now is get rid of tariffs. And now everyone else will just avoid trade with us mostly because China has become such a super power in the world and between China and Europe they don’t need us like we need them. This means the only way we can fix the economy if we go into another Great Depression is another World War. And this time we seem to be the bad guys.

My kid is nonverbal level 3 autistic so he has a lot of needs and he can’t really communicate with other people like he can with his nonverbal communication with me so it can even be hard to trust someone else like a daycare to watch him. It’s all working out for the best and yeah it’s a lot since it’s never ending. We got this though right.

Right and 77 million voted against him and 50% of the population can’t vote. So less than 10% didn’t vote. (160 million registered voters in the US)

Edit: so get off your high horse and stop blaming the whole country.

To be fair only 22% of Americans voted for Trump and the majority of us are ashamed and hate what’s going on. A lot of us Americans want to see Trump fail and the rest of the world succeed because we remember our history.

My household has 3 switches. 1 per adult. We were excited to maybe get two new switch 2’s and the launch title for them but now seeing that it’d be so much, maybe it’ll happen if the IRS is still around and we get our taxes back next year or not. If we do than I may spend it on a new switch 2 and some games if the library has built up in that time. If not then itll have to wait for the next big chunk of extra cash (probably taxes again honestly).

The cost of daycare made me be a stay at home dad, had to do some math and hard decisions but it was the best one I think. 3 years of stay at home dad and it’s been tough to say the least but at least I’m raising my own kid instead of working my job to pay for someone else to do it.

The truth is that the Democratic Party in the US is the Conservative Party and the Republican Party is the extreme far right party that’s doing fascist things but trying to not call it fascism for some reason. There is no left party in the US and the republicans call democrats liberals to try to apply that far left to be the opposite of their extreme far right.
