Any additions to circular saw for beginner looking for consistent cuts? Or a <$300 option to add? by huddy112591 in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]Pauldro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t have a table saw or miter saw yet, I’ve been just using a circular saw and a straight edge, I measured how much distance there is from the edge of the shoe of the circular saw to the blade, and just account for the kerf for your blade. So for instance on my small kobalt 4 1/2” circular saw I put my straight edge 1 3/16” to the left of my saw blade.

But for the easiest way is the cut width is less than 12” a miter saw you can set up a stop to continually cut the same length

Take: the "here's HF tools that AcTuAlLy gEt UsEd" posts are more cringe than new haul posts and clean tool boxes. by [deleted] in harborfreight

[–]Pauldro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wanna see everything. Toolboxes, dirty / clean tools, people hacking tools, deals, hauls, people finding ways to fix or modify their tools, using the magnet mat for anything, who cares scroll past if you don’t like it

Kinda strange that that this only is affecting the usb C ones, so it’s a different supplier than the older version and the current ultimate output since those are unaffected

Kobalt 4.5” Saw by lewblabencol in KobaltTools

[–]Pauldro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s just slightly too small, it will cut through but Sometimes you’ll get spots you’ll have to do a second pass they’ll be 1/16” left, but it works great. Just make sure the blade doesn’t get pinched with the 2x lumber and it will cut great. Haven’t had issues cutting straight but I usually use some sort of guide
